Too Turnt for Nashville: James Brooks, 21

Officers working the Entertainment District Initiative in downtown Nashville watched as 21-year-old James Brooks fell to the ground near 6th & Broadway. As they approached him to assist, they observed his extreme level of intoxication, and attempted to help him stand, however, he had trouble standing and walking on his own, and much of his speech was slurred and was not forming complete phrases. Officers asked him to call a friend to come to get him, however, he repeatedly just opened the camera app on his phone. Officers attempted to assist him with using his phone to arrange an Uber, however, he kept giving his address as “zero”.With no other options available, he was transported to booking, and charged with public intoxication. 

Too drunk for Tootsie’s — Kaleb Spence Clark

31-year-old Kaleb Spence Clark became aggressive toward bouncers when they told him he had to leave the downtown Nashville bar Saturday. Officers were flagged down and Clark says he only had “3 shots”, however, he was slurring his speech, and unsteady on his feet. He was taken into custody for public intoxication and transported to booking.

Joshua Holloway charged after brutally assaulting a man in front of a police officer

Sgt. Matthew Evans was in his marked patrol car when he witnesses 23-year-old Joshua Holloway punching John Dudas in the face. The victim attempted to flee into the crowd, however, Holloway pursued him, and when the man fell to the ground he began to brutally punch and kick the man, who sustained serious injuries, including missing teeth. He claimed the man had assaulted one of his friends, however, multiple independent witnesses confirmed Holloway threw the first punch.

Tourist bites Nashville Police Officer & Medic — Jessica Russell free on Pre-Trial Release

33-year-old Jessica Rose Russell was found in downtown Nashville extremely intoxicated, unable to care for herself, and believing she was in Illinois. Medics were in the process of assisting her when she became combative, and officers arrived to assist. As they were attempting to get her onto the gurney, she attempted to free herself from the soft restraints they had placed on her and became more aggressive. She lunged at medics several times and eventually bit medic Alexander Martin, but did not break the skin. Then she latched her mouth onto Officer Timothy Lehnert, breaking the skiing and drawing blood. Both Russell and Officer Lehnert were treated at the hospital. Russell is now free on pre-trial release.

Man refuses to leave Nudie’s Honky Tonk — Brian Asplin

Bouncers at Nudie’s Honky Tonk told 43-yea-old Brian Asplin he had to leave after he was belligerent and disruptive to other patrons. Asplin refused to leave the venue, and MNPD officers responded to the scene. They found him to be heavily intoxicated and unable to care for himself. He was transported to booking and charged with public intoxication. 

Father & Son Tourists cause CODE 5000 #OfficerDown call on Broadway — Weston & William Kandarian

24-year-old Weston Kandarian says off-duty South Carthage Police Officer, Kenneth Thomas, who was working as security for Tootsie’s on Broadway, asked his father, 55-year-old William Kandarian, to leave the venue due to being disruptive and reportedly standing on barstools. Weston interjected and punched and attacked the off-duty officer, while his father, William, placed the officer-turned-bouncer into a chokehold until he lost consciousness. Weston claims the officer is the one who placed him in a headlock first and started the physical confrontation. The victim was transported to Vanderbilt for treatment. 

Broadway brawl ends after long struggle; woman spits on 4 MNPD Officers

Eryanna Giles says she was walking on the sidewalk in front of Nudie’s on Broadway when 22-year-old Shawntranise Waller suddenly punched her and pushed her out of the way. A large brawl then broke out, and 22-year-old Roneqwua Hayes and 21-year-old Janeshia Leggs both joined in the fight. Leggs and Hayes were quickly apprehended by nearby officers who observed the fight, however, as they approached Waller to take her into custody she began to resist and fight the Metro Nashville Police Officers. It took nearly a half-dozen officers 5-7 minutes to get her into custody, according to their own report. She spit on 4 officers during the battle, including Arnold Ricket, Michael Waltz, Robert Leverick, and Lucas Thomas.. Once they put shackles on her and got her into the rear of a transport vehicle she stated “I am sorry for spitting on you; at least I don’t have HIV”.
