Metro Nashville Police Officers working the Entertainment District Initiative in downtown Nashville observed 31-year-old John McKnight staggering and falling as he was walking on Commerce near 8th Ave N. and several pedestrians stated McKnight at spit on a person as he walked by. When he got to 611 Commerce, he began to hit and kick the glass entry door and entered the lobby while yelling as officers demanded he stop as they identified themselves. He ignored the officers and they grabbed his right wrist to detain him, McKnight squared up and yelled and scream at the officer in an aggressive manner. He was subdued to the ground with a controlled takedown and taken into custody.
John McKnight, of Miramonte in Irvine, CA, was booked into the Metro Nashville Jail on July 1st, charged with disorderly conduct, resisting arrest, and public intoxication. A judicial commissioner set his bond at $4,500 and the Davidson County Sheriff’s Office gave him pre-trial release from their facility. He was initially booked as a ‘John Doe’ due to being uncooperative until he could be identified.
