26-year-old Thomas ‘Tommy’ Alexander Lopez was found screaming for help at 801 Church Street in the early hours of Friday morning. When officers approached and asked what was going on, Lopez replied, “nothing.” He reportedly reeked of alcohol and was obviously intoxicated, but was able to tell officers he was staying at the Courtyard by Marriott downtown on 4th Ave North. Officers were able to escort him to the hotel, which was a few blocks away. Once at the hotel, Lopez became combative and made threats to push the officer who was assisting him. It was decided Lopez was unable to care for himself, and as he was being taken into custody for public intoxication, Lopez used both of his hands to push female officer Kelly Turcios backward. He was taken into custody, despite his resistance, and transported to booking.
