43-year-old Vanderbilt Doctor Derrick Sowder was jailed on April 15th for a hit and run on Lebanon Pike. A witness provided police with Sowder’s license plate number, and they found him parking his vehicle in his driveway as they arrived. There was significant damage to his vehicle, consistent with the crash that took place approximately a mile away. Sowder told police that he had been hit by an unknown vehicle and drove home without stopping after the crash. Sowder appeared to be intoxicated and admitted to drinking a glass of wine about 3 hours before the crash. His speech was slow and slurred, and he had watery bloodshot eyes. Mr. Sowder’s boyfriend, James Lindsey, took a rideshare to his house after hearing about the crash and told police that He and Sowder each had about four glasses of wine at his house before Mr. Sowder left to drive home. Mr. Sowder hit Elliot Mullins on a motorcycle, and he suffered a compound fracture to his leg.

Devontee Matthews kicks door into pregnant roommate’s belly
21-year-old Devontee Matthews was jailed on April 14th after kicking a door into his pregnant roommate’s belly. Police spoke with Shanifa Honore, who said she and Matthews got into an argument which escalated when he kicked her bedroom door into her belly hard enough for it to knock her head onto the wall. Shanifa told police that Matthews returned to her room and hit her tv, causing the screen to crack. Officers saw the damaged door and tv, and Shanifa was visibly pregnant. There was video evidence of the incident as well. Matthews told police that he was upset about statements Shanifa and her boyfriend made. He was determined to be the primary aggressor and taken into custody.
Tourist Jamie Arnado jailed after attempting to put her finger in boyfriend’s bum in Nashville hotel
47-year-old Jamie Arnado, a tourist from California, reportedly attempted to stick her finger in her boyfriend’s anus at the Holston House Hotel in downtown Nashville early Monday morning, ending in quite the commotion, and eventually, her in a jail cell. The couple, who have been dating for five years, had been drinking Sunday night before returning to their hotel. As she entered the hotel, she screamed at the staff, demanding a late checkout, and became aggressive. Her boyfriend, Patrick Jenks, was able to get her into their room despite her yelling “shut up” at him during the process. About an hour later, she called the front desk and stated she had been assaulted. Security went to the room, at which time she told her boyfriend she was going to have him arrested for assault, and claimed he grabbed her wrist and twisted it. As police arrived and conducted interviews, it was revealed that she had attempted to stick her finger in her boyfriend’s anus during a sexual encounter, and he told her to stop, and she scratched him along his back, which is what caused him to grab her wrist. She was determined to be the primary aggressor and taken into custody.
