46-year-old William Myers was seen intoxicated in public outside of the Central Police Precinct on June 5th. That day, Officers responded to a call regarding an assault outside the Precinct. Officers arrived on the scene and made contact with Myers, who officers told to back away from the other involved parties of the incident. When officers ordered Myers to back up, he refused to move and continued to stand there, acting belligerent. Myers refused to comply with officers’ commands to back away, so officers could not safely get more information. While officers were speaking with Myers, they could smell the strong odor of alcohol coming from him. Officers also noticed Myers’ slurred speech before he admitted to drinking in his prior interactions with police. Myers could not give an account of what happened, and his story changed multiple times as he spoke with officers. Officers deemed Myers to be too intoxicated to care for himself, and he was taken into custody for public intoxication.
William Dean Myers was booked into the Metro Nashville Jail on June 5th, charged with public intoxication. A judicial commissioner set his bond $100.
