19-year-old Andre Barnett had a domestic incident with his boyfriend, Nathaniel Green Jr., at their Hermitage Studios apartment on July 22nd. Green Jr. told responding officers that Barnett had thrown his belongings from the balcony, cracking his iPad screen. He added that Barnett wanted to have s*x, but he was not “in the mood.” Green Jr. stated that Barnett had become upset and said he was going to invite someone else over to “f*ck.” Green Jr. responded that he was not okay with that, adding that if Barnett did that, he would leave. Then, when Green Jr. told Barnett he was leaving, Barnett grabbed Green Jr.’s arm tightly and said, “You are not going anywhere,” preventing him from exiting. Green Jr. told Barnett he was calling the police, which is when he let Green Jr. go. After this, Barnett chucked Green Jr.’s tote bag from the second-floor balcony near the mulch area and left with a friend. Officers observed Green Jr.’s items, including his broken iPad, on the ground as he advised them that he wanted to press charges for the occurrence.  The police located Barnett near the Old Hickory Boulevard Subway, where he explained that Green Jr. refused to have sex with him, so he told him to leave. Then, Barnett admitted to grabbing Green Jr.’s property and throwing it over the balcony, adding that he did not know Green Jr.’s iPad was in his bag. Barnett was deemed the primary aggressor and was taken into custody for false imprisonment, domestic assault, and vandalism on July 23rd.
