25-year-old Marquavious Garner was identified as the person who stole Shady Malk’s blue 2021 Dodge Charger SRT from Terminal Garage 3 at Nashville International Airport late May 19th, 2023. Officers spoke with Malk, who reported that he had parked his vehicle around 4:30 a.m. and that by 11:47 p.m., it was gone. Malk added that he did not permit anyone to drive his vehicle. Officers reviewed the CCTV video showing Malk’s blue Dodge Charger SRT being removed from the parking spot around 11 p.m. and Garner driving off about nine minutes later. Garner and at least two others arrived at the airport around 10:48 p.m. in a black Hyundai Elantra with a temporary tag.
Officers located Malk’s car with the interior completely swapped out on May 21st, 2023. The SRT is valued at $80,000, and the removed red interior leather is valued at $10,000. When officers recovered the vehicle, it had black cloth Scat Pack seats, a Scat Pack steering wheel, two door panels missing, two doors replaced with black plastic doors, and the SRT badges removed from the grill and quarter panels. Malk later located the SRT and followed the individuals until they abandoned the SRT and fled. When the men fled, they left Malk’s Charger and a 2021 Ram TRX, where officers found Garner’s fingerprints. A warrant was issued for Garner’s arrest on July 6th, 2023. Garner was later taken into custody for vehicle theft on July 29th, 2024.
Marquavious Garner was booked into the Metro Nashville Jail on July 29th, charged with theft. A judicial commissioner set his bond at $60,000.
