68-year-old Mianga Mseleca was seen walking in the middle of the roadway on I-24 East around mile marker 55 on August 4th. When the officers arrived, they noticed Mseleca standing in the middle of the active interstate. Despite several attempts by the officers to move him over to the right shoulder, he refused to cooperate. Officers then tried to move Mseleca inside their police vehicle to get him off the interstate. However, Mseleca again refused and continued to stand in the middle of I-24.
When officers attempted to handcuff Mseleca, he resisted and began pulling away before they apprehended him. Officers also noticed a strong smell of alcohol coming from Mseleca. As a result, Mseleca was eventually taken into custody for public intoxication, resisting arrest, and refusal to disperse on August 5th.
Mianga Mseleca was booked into the Metro Nashville Jail on August 5th, charged with public intoxication, resisting arrest, and obstructing a passageway or refusing to disperse. A judicial commissioner set his bond at $1,600.
