19-year-old Javion Hyde had a domestic altercation with Carolyn and Reginald McGill at their Cahal Avenue residence on the afternoon of August 10th. While officers were on the way to the location, they observed Hyde walking down Martha Avenue. Officers commanded Hyde to stop, turn around, and put his hands behind his back. When Hyde disregarded their commands, officers informed him that if he did not listen, he would be tased. Hyde promptly replied, “Tase me!” Police then utilized their taser on Hyde, which was ineffective. Hyde raised his right arm over his head with his fists balled up and charged at Officer M. Cammarn. Officer Punke swiftly grabbed Hyde’s hand and spun him towards Cammarn.
At this point, they performed a takedown and tried to detain him. However, Hyde refused to put his hands behind his back, and officers had to force them behind his back to arrest him. When the police arrived at the Cahal Avenue residence, they spoke with Carolyn and Reginald. They both told police that Hyde was having a psychiatric issue and started attacking them. Officers observed marks on Carolyn’s right arm, but she would not tell them how Hyde attacked her. Then, Reginald told officers that Hyde kicked his door down, entered his room, and started strangling him. Hyde was then taken into custody for aggravated assault, domestic assault, resisting arrest, and assault on an officer.
Javion Hyde of Cahal Avenue in Nashville, TN, was booked into the Metro Nashville Jail on August 10th, charged with aggravated assault, domestic assault, resisting arrest and assault on a officer he is free on a $7,500 bond.
