31-year-old Khalil Camoru Steward had a domestic altercation with his ex-girlfriend, Selina Easley, at their Richards Road apartment on August 1st. The police report stated that Steward and Easley argued over whether a window should be opened or closed. During the argument, Steward stood up and slapped her in the face. Then, after Easley pushed him away, they started fighting. This led to Steward body-slamming Easley onto the floor, where he punched her twice near the left side of her head. After this, Easley got up, and Steward slammed her on the ground again. Easley remained on the floor until Steward walked away and retreated to the bathroom. Following the incident, Easley noticed she had a bite mark on her right shoulder that she said happened sometime during the scuffle. Officers observed the bitemark a day later when she reported it. A warrant was then obtained for Steward’s arrest.
Then, on August 14th, Easley called 911, stating that Steward was back at the apartment and an order of protection was in place. Officers confirmed with DCSO that Steward had been notified of the order on June 19th, prohibiting him from the location. Police also discovered Steward had three outstanding warrants and had been informed by Easley on August 13th that Steward was usually armed with a Glock handgun. Before officers arrived, they called Easley to see if Steward’s gun was still there. Easley told officers that Steward’s gun was on the windowsill. Then, officers arrived at the residence and knocked on the door, where they overheard Steward and Easley arguing. After this, Easley let officers in, and they located Steward in the kitchen and the handgun on the windowsill. Upon further investigation, officers learned the handgun was reported stolen out of Clarksville, Tennessee, by Ronald Pallman. Steward refused to speak to the police regarding the matter and was taken into custody for theft of a firearm, domestic assault, and three counts of violating an order of protection on August 14th.
Khalil Camoru Steward was booked into the Metro Nashville Jail on August 14th, charged with domestic assault, three counts of an order of protection violation, and theft of a firearm. A judicial commissioner set his bond at $14,500.
