19-year-old Kendel Rome had a domestic altercation with her father & former President of Fisk University, Kevin D. Rome, at their Division Street residence on the afternoon of August 16th. Kevin told responding officers that he and Kendel had a scuffle over her gathering her belongings to leave. Kevin stated that Kendel had started destroying items and being aggressive toward him. Kevin explained that he tried holding onto her to prevent her from breaking anything else.

Kevin said she scratched his arms while holding her, leaving visible marks. Officers noticed several broken items on the ground when they entered the residence. Officers also observed that Kendel had fake fingernails missing from her fingers, which was consistent with Kevin’s statements and his injuries. Kendel Rome was deemed the primary aggressor and was taken into custody for domestic assault.
