46-year-old Mario Twitty was caught after stealing a cell phone near the WeGo Central bus station on Dr. Martin Luther King Jr Boulevard on June 9th. Clarence Allen reported to officers that he had left his cell phone near his belongings on a bench in the bus station. Allen stated he had walked away briefly and when he returned, he realized that his cell phone was gone. Officers conducted a search using the cell phone’s information through their online database. The database showed that the phone was deposited into an EcoATM located at Dollar General on Dr DB Todd Jr Boulevard.
The phone was deposited on the same day, thirty minutes after the phone was stolen. Twitty was seen on EcoATM cameras wearing the same clothing and matching the description of the suspect who stole the phone. During the transaction, Twitty provided his driver’s license, which police used to identify him. The stolen phone’s value was less than $1,000. A warrant was issued, and Twitty was later taken into custody for property theft on August 16th.
Mario Xavier Twitty of Lafayette Street in Nashville, TN, was booked into the Metro Nashville Jail on August 16th, charged with theft. A judicial commissioner set his bond at $1,000, and the Davidson County Sheriff’s Office gave him pre-trial release from their facility.
