DUI: Michael Hawkins has “one or two shots” before driving

36-year-old Michael Hawkins was jailed Friday morning after reports of a driver asleep behind the wheel. When police arrived, they observed Hawkins in the driver’s seat with the car still running. When he noticed the officers approaching, he attempted to drive away. Police ordered him to stop. He complied and stumbled out of his vehicle. When police asked for Mr. Hawkin’s license, he was reluctant and handed officers a handgun carry permit instead. The officer asked if there was a handgun in the vehicle, to which Mr. Hawkins replied that there was a gun in the center console. The gun was within reaching distance. When the police asked him how much he had to drink, he admitted to having “one or two shots” earlier that day. He was visibly intoxicated and leaning on his vehicle to maintain his balance. It was noted that Mr. Hawkins smelled strongly of cologne, which officers believed was a cover scent. Officers later noticed a slight smell of alcohol on his breath despite the overpowering scent of his cologne. He consented to sobriety tests, performed poorly, and was taken into custody. During the vehicle search, officers located the handgun and a revoked license. Mr. Hawkins does not have any prior convictions or DUI.

Eric McGee punches woman in face, breaks her phone

36-year-old Eric McGee was jailed Sunday morning after assaulting a woman on Chutney Drive in Antioch. Jade Wallace was yelling and crying hysterically as she told police that McGee beat her up and needed to go to jail. Wallace showed officers video footage from the front door camera that showed McGee opening the front door as Wallace approached, punching her in the face, and dragging her into the house. After arriving at booking, Wallace advised that her phone broke while she was being dragged. Wallace then told McGee that she had called the police, so McGee threw her iPhone 14 to the ground and shattered it completely. Officers observed the broken phone.

Ki’Eric Hicks publicly urinates in Magaritaville Hotel

24-year-old Ki’Eric Hicks was jailed on November 19th when officers responded to Margaritaville Hotel on John Lewis Way for reports of a man acting abnormally. Hicks was running around the lobby and spinning on the floor. He urinated in the hotel’s fire room. He was visibly intoxicated and speaking rapidly about irrelevant things. Hicks yelled at his friend, who was trying to help him up to their room. He yelled at the hotel staff and wouldn’t calm down long enough to tell officers what was happening. Officers believed that Hicks was under an intoxicant and could not care for himself or accept care from others. Ki’Eric has charges as recent as September for possession of a handgun while under the influence, driving under the influence, and leaving the scene of an accident as well.

DUI: Nicholas Burks causes accident, tells officers he “did not run into anything”

28-year-old Nicholas Tre’Shun Burks was involved in a vehicle accident on I-24 East on November 19th. Burks told officers he was driving when he heard a loud pop but insisted he “did not run into or hit anything.” Officers observed Burks’s car with significant damage on the front end, inconsistent with his statements. Burks was visibly intoxicated, consented to sobriety tests, performed poorly, and provided two breath samples, resulting in 0.136% BAC and 0.141% BAC. He was taken into custody for driving under the influence.

Zachary Hodskins smashes girlfriend’s phone during dispute

27-year-old Zachary Thomas Hodskins was involved in a domestic disturbance with his girlfriend, Lauren Dupree, on Kirkwood Avenue on November 19th. Officers could see the couple arguing through the front door as they arrived. Hodskins advised them that he and Dupree were having a verbal disagreement over something that happened earlier. Dupree also stated that the argument occurred but also mentioned that Hodskins grabbed her phone and smashed it on the ground. He was taken into custody for vandalism.

Anica Renee Tafoya: Too drunk to fly at Nashville Airport

32-year-old Anica Renee Tafoya was sitting outside a restaurant without shoes at the Nashville Airport on November 20th. Officers were dispatched, checked on Tafoya, and noticed she was visibly intoxicated as she kept repeating herself. Tafoya could not provide a boarding pass when they asked what gate she was flying out of or which gate she needed to be at and could not type in her phone passcode to find the boarding pass, causing it to disable. She could not stand up to walk without assistance or walk without veering side to side, so she was placed into custody for public intoxication.

Taylor McEwen admits to “smoking weed every day” during traffic stop

22-year-old Taylor McEwen was jailed Wednesday evening when police pulled over a silver 4-door Chevy Sedan with a broken taillight on Harrison Road after they observed it turn into a Save A Lot grocery store, park, and immediately leave without using a turn signal. When police ran the tags, it showed that one of the owners had an outstanding warrant from a different county. Before stopping, the driver committed another traffic violation by running through a red light. A warrant from Sumner County was discovered after identifying McEwen as the passenger and running his name. When McEwen was taken into custody, 9 grams of marijuana were located in his pocket, along with a black rifle located under the seat. The rifle had a full magazine and a round in the chamber. The rifle was pointed in the direction of the backseat where a two-year-old child was sleeping. McEwen admitted to “smoking marijuana every day,” which deemed him a habitual user. Under federal law, habitual drug users are prohibited from possessing a firearm. McEwen has a history of gun-related charges, including a previous incident in 2021 for felony aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.

Adam Williams vandalizes property at Psychiatric Hospital, damages worth over $5,000

19-year-old Adam Williams was jailed on November 16th for destroying property inside TriStar Centennial Parthenon Pavilion. The facility’s director, Mr. Ronald Haskamp, stated that Williams was admitted on October 27th. During his stay, he destroyed $5,886 worth of property. On October 29th, officers were called to the facility after Williams had destroyed multiple doors of the area where he was being housed. Mr. Haskamp stated the damage done to the doors cost $5,000 in repairs. When Williams was asked why he destroyed the doors, he stated, “Because he was angry.” Officers viewed video surveillance that was recorded on November 13th that showed Williams pouring liquid onto a computer, causing $886 worth of damage. After being medically discharged from the facility, Williams was taken into custody.

DUI: Zachery Baker has one “12 oz Corona” before driving

31-year-old Zachery Baker was booked early Friday morning after officers observed him speeding down I-40, going 82 mph in a 55 mph zone. When the police attempted to pull Mr. Baker over, he yielded and nearly struck the cushion barrier. While speaking with Baker, officers could smell alcohol coming from his vehicle and asked him if he had anything to drink, to which he replied that he didn’t. His speech was slurred, his eyes were bloodshot, and he staggered while walking. He finally admitted he had one 12oz Corona an hour before the stop. Mr. Baker then performed poorly on sobriety tests and was transported to Saint Thomas Midtown Hospital for a blood sample before booking.
