DUI: Abebaw Tesfaye hits multiple police cars on State Route 45

51-year-old Abebaw Melaku Tesfaye was involved in a three-vehicle collision near State Route 45 and Myatt Drive in the early hours of March 30th. When officers arrived, they observed Tesfaye operating an Amazon delivery semi-truck. Then they spoke with him, and Tesfaye stated he failed to see the red stop light while traveling westbound on SR-45. Tesfaye stated this caused him to hit a marked patrol car, which then rear-ended an additional patrol car. Officers on the scene noted that Tesfaye stumbled out of the truck and was slow to provide his license. He told them he had not slept for 10 hours before the accident. Tesfaye stated he had not consumed any alcohol, consented to sobriety tests, and performed poorly. Tesfaye agreed to provide a blood sample after being informed of implied consent. Tesfaye was taken into custody for driving under the influence.
