Daniel Filipovich assaults ex-girlfriend during confrontation over threat to leak explicit photos

38-year-old Daniel David Filipovich had an altercation with his ex-girlfriend, Hannah Paige Babitt, at his house on Lischey Avenue in the early hours of January 22nd. Later that night, officers were dispatched to Marengo Lane and spoke with Babitt about the altercation. Babitt advised that she went to Filipovich’s house to talk to him about him threatening to leak a nude photo of her. Babitt attempted to go upstairs and talk to his brother. Then, Babitt showed officers footage of Filipovich blocking the stairs, grabbing her by her jacket and neck before sitting her down on the couch, hindering her breathing. Babitt said she planned to leave via rideshare, but when she was leaving, Filipovich pushed her from behind, causing Babitt to slip on the ice and hit her head on the concrete. Babitt then canceled the rideshare and told Filipovich that she needed immediate medical attention, so he called the ambulance. However, the call for service made by Filipovich was regarding a fall and not an assault, so the authorities were not alerted at the time. Babitt was transported to Vanderbilt Hospital by NFD and told them she wanted to call the police but was unable because Filipovich was still with her. Filipovich was taken into custody for aggravated assault on February 12th.
