Marvin Morton drunkenly assaults sister and her boyfriend after drinking in Downtown Nashville

20-year-old Marvin Morton had a domestic altercation with his sister, Rachel Jones, in downtown Nashville and then at their Brentwood Place residence late February 23rd. Jones spoke with officers when they arrived, advising them that Morton had called her, stating he was drinking at a bar on 8th Avenue. When Jones got there, Morton was highly intoxicated, attempting to park his car. Jones made him get out of his car and parked it for him. Jones said that during this, Morton continually berated her while pushing and spitting on her. Then Jones and her boyfriend, Nathaniel Clay, got Morton to calm down and agreed to drive him home. While Jones drove, Morton continued to yell and spit on her. When they got to their house, Jones told Morton he was not allowed to come in if he kept behaving like that, so she went inside and locked the door. Morton then tried to get inside, and when he could not, he broke the door down. Morton and Jones then began arguing in one of the bedrooms. Morton pushed Jones to the ground and got on top of her, so she hit him in the face repeatedly but still could not get him off her. Clay and Jones were on the phone before Morton broke in, so when Clay got home, he ran inside and saw Morton on top of Jones. Clay grabbed and struck Morton several times while trying to get him off of Jones. When officers arrived, they observed several marks on Morton’s face, including a swollen eye. As they spoke to Morton, officers noticed he was too impaired to give a coherent statement, so officers transported him to the hospital. Morton was taken into custody for underage alcohol consumption and domestic assault on February 24th.
