Alexus Schultz stated that James would show up at her job leading up to the incident, which made her very uncomfortable. She said that James would also call her derogatory names during arguments. On the day of the assault, January 29th, Alexus was planning to tell him that she didn’t want to communicate with him any longer. They began to argue, causing James to become irate and verbally aggressive. During the argument, James slammed Alexus’ finger in the door and then strangled her, leaving scratch marks on her neck. James told Alexus that he did not strangle her and that if she told anyone that he did, he would call the police on her.

Yulimar Miquilarena-Yanez jailed due to the Ricky Ott Act after car crash on Nolensville Pike

21-year-old Yulimar Miquilarena-Yanez was the driver involved in a car accident resulting in injury at Nolensville Pike and Edmonson Pike on February 7th. The other involved party had to be transported to Vanderbilt Hospital for treatment. As a result of the “Ricky Ott Act,” Miquilarena-Yanez was taken into custody for a financial responsibility violation involving injury and not having a driver’s license.

When officers arrived, they observed Cowart sitting at a computer watching p*rn, with his sweatpants pulled down and his hands in his boxers, actively m*sturbating. The officer tried to handcuff him, but he was able to slip away due to an unknown substance on both hands. When he was finally arrested, he admitted to m*sturbating inside the library because he was “h*rny.” At least seven people witnessed Cowart m*sturbating inside the library. Officers noted there was an M&M tube located near the computer, which contained a glass pipe and tobacco. He was then transported to the Downtown Detention Center for processing.

Jonathan Mattingly breaks into woman’s apartment, emails her photo captioned “Staying with ya tonight!”

37-year-old Jonathan Mattingly was booked after entering an apartment on Rep. John Lewis South without permission. Chloe Witmer advised that she received an email with a picture of her garage key fob and pass with the subject line reading “Staying with ya tonight!” That image was followed by a selfie of Mattingly in the bathroom of Chloe’s apartment that she uses as a short-term rental. One of Chloe’s employees went to the apartment and found a handwritten note signed by Mattingly on the ground. She then entered the apartment and said hello, to which Mattingly replied hello back. Mattingly then came out from the bedroom area and began talking to her as if nothing was wrong. When Mattingly started digging in a bag, the employee became uncomfortable and left the apartment. She later returned with the police, but Mattingly was no longer there. The property captured in the selfie was also missing from the apartment. Police recovered a pill bottle with Mattingly’s name and an address in Bardstown, Kentucky. Officers located an article detailing the 2022 arrest of Mattingly in Pikeville, Kentucky. The booking photo in the article and the photo from Mattingly’s email were used so Chloe and the employee could identify him. Officers contacted the Pikeville Police Department and were provided with Mattingly’s Kentucky driver’s license number. Mattingly was taken into custody for theft and aggravated burglary on February 6th.

Cody Theriot deemed too drunk for Nashville International Airport

30-year-old Cody Theriot was jailed on February 6th after arguing with a bartender at the Ole Red restaurant at the Nashville Airport. Theriot told officers he was upset with the bartender for cutting him off. Theriot was told to go to his gate and wait for his flight. Less than 2 hours later, police received a call that Theriot was arguing with a different bartender who refused to serve him. When officers made contact with Theriot the second time, they noticed he was much more intoxicated. He had bloodshot eyes, slurred speech, and was unable to follow basic instructions. Police determined him to be a public annoyance and took him into custody.

DUI: Isaac Longinos drinks several Modelo beers before nearly rear-ending vehicle

24-year-old Isaac Angel Longinos traveled 20 mph in a 45-mph zone on Murfreesboro Pike near Ransom Place on February 6th. Officers observed this as he swerved and overcorrected before nearly rear-ending another vehicle while approaching a red light. They conducted a traffic stop and noticed he was visibly intoxicated when they approached the driver’s side. There were several open cans of Modelo beer on the floorboard. Longinos exited the vehicle as they requested and consented to sobriety tests. Longinos could not complete the sobriety tests due to his level of intoxication. Officers detained him and performed a records check, which showed that he did not have a valid driver’s license. Further investigation led to them discovering Longinos had a fake temporary tag affixed to the rear of his vehicle that was later turned in as evidence. They transported him to booking, where he urinated on himself while sleeping. Longinos was taken into custody for driving under the influence, not having a driver’s license, and having a fraudulent title.

Jonathan Keene arrested for attacking police officer at Centennial Hospital in 2021

46-year-old Jonathan Scott Keene randomly attacked Metro Nashville Police Officer Nathaniel Jones while he worked with a patient at Centennial Hospital in June 2021. Jones was sitting in a chair when Keene jumped onto him, knocked him out of the chair, and squeezed him with his arms. The reason for the incident is unknown as there was no prior contact, business, or communication between the men beforehand. Multiple individuals, hospital staff, and another officer were needed to stop Keene. Keene was taken into custody for the assault of an officer on February 6th, 2024.

Mariyah Reid vandalizes ex-boyfriend’s Xbox during altercation

21-year-old Mariyah Reid had an altercation with her ex-boyfriend, Shantonio Je’quan Hurt, at his apartment on Bell Road on February 6th. Hurt spoke to officers, advising them that Reid became angry and poured water on his Xbox game console and TV before she left. Reid agreed to return and speak with the officers. Reid admitted to pouring the water on Hurt’s Xbox and TV. Reid was deemed the primary aggressor and was taken into custody for vandalism.

DUI: Brent Kitchens drinks beer before crashing into brick wall

22-year-old Brent Kitchens sped northbound on Nolensville Pike before swerving and colliding with a brick wall on the morning of February 7th. Officers witnessed this, and when they approached him, he stated he “messed up” and admitted to drinking alcoholic beverages at his friend’s house before driving. He was visibly intoxicated as he consented to sobriety tests, performed poorly, and provided a blood sample after being informed of implied consent. Officers located an open bottle of beer in his center console, and then he was taken into custody for driving under the influence and an open container violation.

Ashlyn Engelbert send over 500 texts to ex-boyfriend in one day, tells him “I’ll smash your car windows!”

31-year-old Ashlyn Engelbert was caught harassing her ex-boyfriend, Jason Demarcus, at Blackwood Drive on February 4th. Demarcus provided law enforcement with texts he had received in the prior 24 hours. He had received over 500 text messages. The messages ranged from pictures of Engelbert to multiple references about sleeping with Demarcus. The messages also included threats such as “I’ll smash your car windows!” Ashlyn Engelbert was taken into custody and charged with harassment.
