Abanoub Nageib jailed after drag racing down Murfreesboro Pike at 95 mph

18-year-old Abanoub Nageib was speeding alongside another vehicle on Murfreesboro Pike late July 12th. Patrolling officers observed the cars going 95 mph in a 50 mph zone and conducted a traffic stop. The other driver entered the center turn lane and kept driving. Nageib pulled over for police at the Murfreesboro Pike Publix. When the police spoke with Nageib, he was apologetic and denied racing with the other driver. Then, Nageib asked officers why they didn’t stop the other vehicle for speeding. Nageib was cited for the occurrence that day. Then, Nageib failed to book himself by August 15th, and a bench warrant was issued for his arrest on August 23rd. Nageib was later jailed for drag racing on August 28th.

Antonio Pena jailed after drag racing on Gallatin Pike at over 80 mph

38-year-old Antonio Pena was caught speeding and drag-racing at the intersection of Gallatin Pike and McChesney Avenue on August 17th. When the officers arrived at the scene, they spoke with another officer who stated that he had observed a black Chevy and a black Camaro speeding excessively on Gallatin Pike. The officer mentioned that he was behind both vehicles as they approached a red light. Once the light turned green, both vehicles began to accelerate at a high speed, with the Camaro staying within the speed limit and the Chevy driving above it. The Chevy was estimated to be driving at approximately 80-85mph in a 40mph zone on Gallatin Pike. After this, the officers turned on their lights and spoke with Pena, who admitted he was racing the Camaro. As a result of this admission, Pena was taken into custody for drag racing.

Dreyden Cruz weaves between cars on motorcycle while speeding down Briley Parkway at 137 mph

19-year-old Dreyden Cruz was caught after driving recklessly and drag racing while at Metro Park near Two Rivers Parkway on August 10th. That day, officers were alerted to a motorcycle rally at Metro Park. They received multiple calls reporting that several motorcycles were speeding in the area. While traveling south on Briley Parkway, officers observed Cruz speeding. The information was relayed to a police helicopter as Cruz headed towards I-40 West. The vehicle’s speed was measured at 137 mph, and Cruz was seen weaving in and out of heavy traffic. Cruz traveled through Briley Parkway, I-40, up to I-24, and then around I-65, back to Briley Parkway. The police helicopter observed Cruz pull into a parking lot at Two Rivers Parkway and remove his helmet. Officers in the helicopter then gave his description to officers on the ground, who promptly detained him.

Cruz was taken into custody and admitted to officers that he was trying to catch up to a friend who had left earlier. Officers noted that Cruz’s motorcycle had an improperly mounted and altered license plate. Officers then discovered the vehicle’s VIN showed it to be registered to a different tag number. Cruz confessed to placing a fake tag on the motorcycle to deter theft. Officers also ran Cruz’s driver’s license, showing he had no Motorcycle endorsement. As a result, Cruz was charged with altering his registration, misuse of registration, drag racing, wrong driver’s license type for a vehicle, and reckless endangerment.

Chad Kates speeds down Rosa Parks Boulevard at 80 mph in Chevy Spark, tells police his car “only has 100 horsepower”

23-year-old Chad Kates was seen in a silver 2018 Chevy Spark speeding out of the Waffle House parking lot on Clarksville Pike at 5 a.m. on July 13th. The vehicle was seen driving so recklessly that officers believed it was stolen. Officers followed the car while it continued to accelerate at a high speed. The vehicle was observed committing numerous traffic violations while pulling away from officers going 80 mph. Officers noted that the Chevy Spark was going at least double the speed limit on Rosa Parks Boulevard. In fear for the safety of other drivers, they activated their emergency lights in an attempt to stop the car. The vehicle was very slow to stop, but it eventually stopped on Athens Way. When officers made contact with the driver, who was later identified as Kates, they asked him if he had any reason to be a driver that fast. Kates responded that his car “only has 100 horsepower” and denied doing anything wrong. Upon further investigation, it was found that according to General Motors, a Chevy Spark’s top speed is about 117 mph. Using this information, officers determined that Kates was driving near the maximum speed his car can travel. Chad Kates was taken into custody and charged with drag racing and reckless endangerment.

Genaro Guevara races down Gallatin Pike at 100mph in Camaro LT1, tells police he was “Just Driving”

25-year-old Genaro Tellez Guevara was observed speeding, following another vehicle, appearing to race in his Red Camaro LT1 near the Hart Lane and Gallatin Pike intersection late June 27th. Officers observed them going 100 mph in a 40-mph zone, during which Guevara weaved in and out of traffic, disregarding other drivers. Then, officers caught up to him and conducted a traffic stop. Guevara told police he didn’t know the other driver and that he was “just driving.” Guevara was cited for the incident that day. Guevara was later booked on the citation of drag racing and reckless driving on July 5th.

18-year-old Abdulrahman Elsaadawy drag races down Murfreesboro Pike

18-year-old Abdulrahman Elsaadawy was observed driving slowly next to another vehicle before speeding off near Murfreesboro Pike and Foster Avenue on March 30th .Officers conducted a traffic stop, where they detained and mirandized Elsaadawy. Elsaadawy then admitted to “taking off” after the car next to him. Then, officers cited him for the occurrence. Elsaadawy was later booked on the citation of drag racing on April 23rd.

Binahy Abdullatif drag races in 2016 Acura ILX on Nolensville Pike

23-year-old Bihany Basheer Abdullatif, a K&G Fashion Store employee, was booked on the citation of drag racing on April 19th. On March 23rd, officers observed Abdullatif and an unidentified individual in another vehicle at the Nolensville Pike and Haywood Lane intersection speeding off after the light turned green. The other car reached 81 mph in a 40 mph zone, and Abdullatif was pulling away from them in her 2016 Acura ILX. She was then cited for the incident.  

Roman Betancourt-Garcia charged with drag racing on I-24 in Antioch

19-year-old Roman Betancourt-Garcia was speeding on I-24 East, near Antioch Pike, in the late-night hours of November 26th. Officers observed him and a dark-colored Nissan traveling in and out of traffic at 105 miles per hour while racing. A traffic stop was conducted, officers spoke with Betancourt-Garcia, and he advised them he did not have a driver’s license. He was cited for drag racing. Betancourt-Garcia was booked on the citation on December 19th.

Slider Alexander Mandujano jailed after video posted online

Days after this video (in story) was posted online in late February, and even being named “Best Slider” by Scoop: Nashville, detectives had identified then-20-year-old Alexander Mandujano as the driver of the white Pontiac G8. Police say the video shows Mandujano “coming within inches of pedestrians” while “performing reckless maneuvers” near Trousdale Drive. A warrant was issued for his arrest in March, and he was booked this week on the outstanding charge.

Xavier Daimwood charged with inciting a riot during intersection takeover in Nashville

19-year-old Xavier Daimwood was jailed on November 19th after a group of street racers took over an intersection near Century Boulevard. Hermitage Precinct officers arrested four men from out of county early Sunday morning after they were found taking over the intersection of McGavock Pike at Century Boulevard doing donuts and burnouts in a white Dodge Charger.

Officers arrived at 1 a.m. to find more than 60 vehicles participating in the dangerous driving stunts. As they were approaching the intersection, they witnessed a man fire a gunshot into the air around bystanders and vehicles. A traffic stop was initiated on the Charger, which was blocking the roadway, when it fled from officers going more than 90 miles per hour onto Elm Hill Pike. Additional gunshots were seen coming from the Charger during the brief pursuit. The driver, Xaiver Daimwood, 19, of Shelbyville, was taken into custody after surrendering to officers on Donelson Pike at Lebanon Pike. He was charged with aggravated reckless driving, drag racing, evading arrest, disorderly conduct, inciting a riot, and driving under the influence.
