DUI: Cody Carlbert nearly hits multiple people trying to leave airport with rented Ford Taurus

45-year-old Cody Edward Carlbert tried to drive away in a rented Ford Taurus and nearly hit an employee and a passenger at the rental car facility at Nashville International Airport on April 15th. When officers arrived, Carlbert told them he was trying to leave with a rental, but the booth attendant said he seemed intoxicated, so he exited the Taurus and returned to the terminal. Carlbert reeked of alcohol and started “talking in circles,” unable to comprehend what officers were telling him. Multiple rental car employees advised that he almost hit two people and provided footage showing the incident. Carlbert showed signs of impairment during the eye test and refused to take any additional sobriety tests. Carlbert was taken into custody for driving under the influence.     

DUI: John Hendrix falls asleep behind the wheel after drinking at a friend’s house

41-year-old John Zachary Hendrix was asleep in his car in front of his friend’s Sigler Street Residence on April 15th. Officers conducted a welfare check near the location, where they observed Hendrix with what appeared to be an alcoholic beverage next to him in his cupholder before they woke him up. When he got up, he reeked of alcohol and told them that he was coming from “hanging out” at a friend’s house, which he was parked in front of. They asked him about the drink in the cupholder, and he said he had drunk it “long ago.” He could not recall when he left his friend’s or fell asleep. Then, he exited the car, unsteady on his feet, and took sobriety tests, where he performed poorly. Afterward, he told officers he did not want to take any additional tests, so they detained him, informed him of implied consent, where he refused to provide a chemical sample, and Mirandized him, during which he requested an attorney. During a further inspection of his vehicle, officers discovered the cup had remnants of alcohol, and the keys to his car, which is push-to-start, were in the other cupholder, readily available. Hendrix was then taken into custody for an implied consent violation, an open-container violation, and driving under the influence.

DUI: Sean Autry crashes car after drinking at friend’s birthday party

18-year-old Sean Autry had a single-vehicle accident near Mile Mark 94 on I-65 South in the early hours of April 15th. When officers arrived, Autry provided them with his driver’s license and exited his car, where they noticed he walked unsteadily and had a strong alcoholic odor. Additionally, he was very emotional, screaming profanities outside of the vehicle. Officers asked him how much he had to drink, and he told them he did not have much. He refused to take sobriety tests, so they read implied consent to him, where he agreed to provide a breath sample, resulting in 0.120 BAC%. He later advised he had two beers at a friend’s birthday party before the crash. Autry was taken into custody for driving under the influence.

DUI: Jacob Hudelston caught with handgun after crashing into rock wall on I-65 South

30-year-old Jacob Huddleston had a single-vehicle accident where he drove off the roadway and collided with a rock wall near Exit 74A on I-65 South in the early hours of April 14th. When officers arrived, Huddleston told them he was unsure which direction he was going or how he had gone off the road, but he believed he was driving onto the I-65 South entrance ramp from Old Hickory Boulevard. They noticed he reeked of alcohol and asked him if he had consumed any, to which he said no. He refused to take sobriety tests but allowed them to check his eyes, where they found indication of intoxication. Hudelston declined to provide a chemical sample and, under Miranda, told them he had three beers a little after midnight. During an inventory search, officers located a half-empty liquor bottle, a couple of beers in his vehicle, and a loaded handgun in one of the pockets of his backpack. When asked about the gun, he said, “Yes, I inherited it,” so it was seized. Huddleston was taken into custody for driving under the influence, implied consent, weapon possession while under the influence, and an open-container violation.

DUI: Brandon Parsons walks away from accident after drinking 7 beers, tells police “he crashed”

37-year-old Massage Therapist Brandon Parsons was involved in a car crash at Hillsboro Pike on April 9th. Parsons was located walking away from the crash and did not attempt to contact law enforcement. When officers met with Parsons, he told them that “he crashed” and was trying to get home. Parsons admitted that he drank seven draft beers and then drove in his car. Parsons consented to sobriety tests and performed poorly. Officers informed Parsons about implied consent, but he refused to provide a breath sample. Brandon Parsons was taken into custody and charged with implied consent, driving under the influence, and leaving the scene of an accident.

DUI: Terry Briskey swerves between lanes nearly striking telephone pole

59-year-old Terry Lynn Briskey swerved in his white Nissan Rogue and hit a concrete barrier on North Main Street late April 5th. Briskey crossed back over two traffic lanes, nearly striking a telephone pole as well as another vehicle. Officers observed this and conducted a traffic stop, where he continued driving and slowly drifted into the southbound lane. Then, officers pulled next to Briskey and noticed he was lying across the center console, appearing to be unconscious. Officers parked in front of his Nissan to ensure his safety, during which he sat up and looked at them. While Briskey tried to park his car and turn the radio down, he showed numerous signs of impairment. After he parked, officers noticed Briskey reeked of alcohol and removed him from the driver’s seat, where he admitted to having a drink an hour before the incident. Officers informed him of implied consent, and he agreed to provide a blood sample. After Briskey was transported to Nashville General Hospital, he was taken into custody for driving under the influence.

DUI: Grisell Pirela speeds, swerves between lanes on I-24 East

38-year-old Grisell Pirela was swerving and speeding on I-24 East in the early hours of April 6th. Officers observed this and conducted a traffic stop. Officers approached the passenger’s side, spoke with Pirela, and requested her driver’s credentials. While she searched for her documents, officers noticed a strong alcoholic odor on her person. Officers then asked Pirela if she had anything to drink, to which she replied yes. They had her exit her vehicle and walk to the front of their patrol car, where she showed multiple signs of intoxication. Then, Pirela advised officers that she had a metal rod in her left leg and had been recently diagnosed with vertigo. Pirela took sobriety tests, performed poorly, and, after being informed of implied consent, refused to provide a chemical sample. Pirela was taken into custody for driving under the influence and implied consent.  

DUI: Caleb Serrano speeds down I-40 after drinking 3 pints of lager, thanks officers for stopping him

33-year-old Caleb Antonio Serrano was seen speeding at 85 mph in a 65-mph zone on I-40 in the early hours of April 7th. Officers observed this and conducted a traffic stop. Officers approached the passenger’s side and noticed Serrano reeked of alcohol. Officers had him exit his car for questioning, where he admitted to drinking “at least 3 pints of lager.” Then, Serrano took sobriety tests, performed poorly, and was detained. While being transported to booking, Serrano stated he did not even remember getting into his vehicle and then thanked the officers for stopping him. Serrano was taken into custody for driving under the influence.

DUI: Cinnamon Gadson found lying on ground beside vehicle after crash on Memorial Drive

44-year-old behavioral analyst at The Perfect Child ABA Cinnamon Gadson was involved in a two-vehicle car accident in the Memorial Drive and French Street area on April 6th. Upon officers’ arrival, they observed Gadson lying on the ground on the other side of her vehicle, smelling strongly of alcohol. While speaking with Gadson, officers noted that it became apparent that she had consumed alcohol due to an empty container of alcohol and her slurred speech. Gadson consented to sobriety tests and performed poorly. After being informed about implied consent, Gadson refused to provide a blood sample and was taken into custody for driving under the influence and implied consent.

DUI: Ryan Deveaux crashes car, hands police drivers license from the Bahamas

26-year-old Ryan Deveaux was in a single-vehicle car crash on Interstate 24 East at Exit 59 on April 7th. When officers came into contact with Deveaux, he demonstrated multiple signs of intoxication as well as the smell of an alcoholic beverage. While speaking to Deveaux, he requested to be seen by an ambulance. NFD arrived shortly after and checked on Deveaux, but he refused any medical treatment. Deveaux consented to sobriety tests and performed poorly. Deveaux was then taken into custody and read implied consent, which he refused. After officers transported Deveaux to booking, they found that his driver’s license was from the Bahamas. Deveaux did not have a valid US driver’s license, so he is legally prohibited from operating a vehicle in Tennessee. Ryan Deveaux was charged with implied consent, driving under the influence, and driving without a driver’s license.
