Ebony Collins caught at Nashville International Airport with 20 pounds of marijuana

30-year-old Ebony Collins was taken into custody for felony possession on February 28th. Nashville Airport Police Department investigated an inbound Southwest flight 802 scheduled to arrive from Los Angeles, CA, and deployed their narcotics detecting K-9 Peggy, who gave a positive indication to four bags. There was a hard-sided dark pink roller bag with a SWA bag tag name displaying “Collins/Ebony,” a dark blue hard-sided roller bag with a SWA bag tag name displaying “Moss/Alvin,” a light blue hard-sided roller bag with a SWA bag tag name displaying “Hampton/Willie,” and a light pink hard-sided roller bag with a SWA bag tag name displaying “Hughes/Toshel.” Officers located them once each bag was claimed and separately asked to search their luggage, to which they consented. During a search of Collins’s dark pink suitcase, they located 17 bundles of vacuum-sealed marijuana, totaling 9,071.85 grams/20 pounds, two bottles of promethazine syrup, and a container with a mixture of pills.

Toshel Hughes caught at Nashville International Airport with 18 pounds of marijuana

27-year-old Toshel Dennesse Hughes was taken into custody for felony possession of a schedule VI drug on February 28th. Nashville Airport Police Department investigated an inbound Southwest flight 802 scheduled to arrive from Los Angeles, CA, and deployed their narcotics detecting K-9 Peggy, who gave a positive indication to four bags. There was a hard-sided dark pink roller bag with a SWA bag tag name displaying “Collins/Ebony,” a dark blue hard-sided roller bag with a SWA bag tag name displaying “Moss/Alvin,” a light blue hard-sided roller bag with a SWA bag tag name displaying “Hampton/Willie,” and a light pink hard-sided roller bag with a SWA bag tag name displaying “Hughes/Toshel.” Officers located them once each bag was claimed and separately asked to search their luggage, to which they consented. During a search of Hughes’s light pink suitcase, they located 18 bundles of vacuum-sealed marijuana as well a small amount in her purse totaling 8,164.66 grams/18 pounds.

Alvin Moss caught at Nashville International Airport with 10 pounds of marijuana

37-year-old Alvin Lester Moss was taken into custody for felony possession on February 28th. Nashville Airport Police Department investigated an inbound Southwest flight 802 scheduled to arrive from Los Angeles, CA. Officers deployed their narcotics detecting K-9 Peggy, who gave a positive indication to four bags. The bags included a hard-sided dark pink roller bag with a SWA bag tag name displaying “Collins/Ebony,” a dark blue hard-sided roller bag with a SWA bag tag name displaying “Moss/Alvin,” a light blue hard-sided roller bag with a SWA bag tag name displaying “Hampton/Willie,” and a light pink hard-sided roller bag with a SWA bag tag name displaying “Hughes/Toshel.” Officers located them once each bag was claimed and separately asked to search their luggage, to which they consented. During a search of Moss’s dark blue suitcase, they located 10 bundles of vacuum-sealed marijuana totaling 4,535.92 grams/10 pounds.

Thomia Smith denies ownership of backpack containing 112 grams of marijuana

19-year-old Thomia Smith was jailed on November 9th after police pulled her friend over. Loud music and the odor of marijuana were emitting from the vehicle. One out of three occupants handed over a black bag containing 32 grams of marijuana. The vehicle was then searched, and officers located several bottles of liquor and a larger bag of marijuana containing 112 grams inside a backpack behind the driver’s seat. All three subjects in the vehicle denied ownership of the backpack.

Jayla Shepard free on pre-trial release after being found with Glock & marijuana during traffic stop

18-year-old Jayla Shepard faced multiple charges after police say she was the front-seat passenger in a vehicle driven by her 17-year-old boyfriend that was stopped at the I-24/I-40 interchange. Officers immediately noticed a “large amount” of marijuana in the center console area along with some joints. A search of the car revealed a backpack behind Shepard’s seat containing another just over a half-pound of marijuana, baggies, scales, and a Glock 17 with no serial number. The juvenile boyfriend denied possession of any of the items, and Shepard claimed the marijuana was hers “but we both smoke it”, and states the juvenile bought the gun for her, but she was afraid of it. She is free on pre-trial release, charged with two felonies and three misdemeanors.
