DUI: Nicholas Riffle tells officers he’s drunk after almost crashing into a police car

28-year-old Nicholas Robert Riffle sped past a vehicle in his Hyundai Santa Fe near Lebanon Pike and Spence Lane around 2 a.m. on April 24th. He continued speeding, traveling in the turning lane through the intersection into oncoming traffic, and almost collided with officers. Officers activated their emergency equipment and conducted a traffic stop on Clovernook Drive, where they asked him about his “poor driving,” which is when he admitted to being drunk. Riffle exited his car, stumbling and showing signs of impairment before he consented to sobriety tests and performed poorly. After being read implied consent, he agreed to provide a breath sample, which resulted in 0.178 BAC%. Riffle was then taken into custody for driving under the influence and reckless driving.

DUI: Johnnetta Penrose caught with marijuana in car, congratulates officers for finding her “$20 bag of weed”

46-year-old Johnnetta Penrose sped in her white Buick SUV and ran through the red light, nearly colliding with a U-Haul truck on Fesslers Lane in the early hours of March 13th. Officers observed this and conducted a traffic stop. As Officers approached the driver’s side, they noticed a small bag of marijuana on top of an ashtray in the center cupholder near a Patron Bottle, which was almost empty. Officers questioned Penrose, and she admitted to drinking, adding that she had just left a friend’s house, where they celebrated and consumed the Patron. Detectives asked if Penrose would be willing to take sobriety tests, which she consented to and performed poorly on. Before Penrose took the field tests, she tried to hide the bag of marijuana while getting out of her SUV. Penrose was detained, and officers tried to explain implied consent to her, but she was unwilling to listen, interrupting them repeatedly. Officers located an open bottle of Pinot wine behind the driver’s seat during a subsequent search of her Buick. On the way to booking, she continuously congratulated officers on finding her “$20 bag of weed.” Penrose was taken into custody for driving under the influence, implied consent, an open container violation, and simple possession.

David Garner drunkenly refuses to leave Opryland Hotel, declares he is a “Federal Agent”

41-year-old David Garner was at the Opryland Hotel on Opry Mills Drive in the late hours of December 20th when he refused to leave after being asked to. When officers arrived, they met with the Opryland Hotel Security staff, who told officers that there was an assault incident that occurred on the General Jackson Boat dock involving Garner and his female friend. Security asked Garner and his friend to leave because of the incident but refused to tell them their room numbers or leave the property. Officers spoke with Garner, who seemed intoxicated. When officers told Garner that he would be arrested if he did not leave, he became aggressive and argumentative. After half an hour of arguing with Garner, the officers escorted him to the lobby and ordered a taxi. Instead of getting in the taxi, Garner declared he was a “federal agent” and approached a hotel employee, becoming verbally aggressive. Garner was taken into custody and charged with criminal trespassing.

DUI: Elyse Kimmel crashes Subaru Forrester driving home from club

30-year-old Elyse Nicole Kimmel was involved in a car accident at the intersection of Lafayette and 2nd Avenue South in the early hours of December 8th. Officers arrived and spoke with Kimmel, who advised she was the driver of the white Subaru Forrester, that she was driving her mom and friend home, and that she was unaware of how the accident happened. Kimmel was visibly intoxicated, refused to take sobriety tests, and was read implied consent. She was taken into custody for driving under the influence and implied consent.

DUI: Magdalena Campos drives without license, causes accident

37-year-old Magdalena Neri-Campos was involved in a car accident on I-40 W on November 3rd. Medics told officers that the driver, Campos, was intoxicated and did not speak English. Once they arrived, they were able to confirm that as they observed her to have bloodshot eyes and an odor of alcohol. Campos stated she had no idea what happened regarding the accident and consented to sobriety tests. Campos exhibited signs of impairment and was unable to complete the tests due to her having to use the restroom. Officers were advised that Campos also had no valid driver’s license. Campos was taken into custody for driving under the influence and not having a driver’s license.

Tanner Hollingsworth charged with drag racing after crash with injuries

21-year-old Tanner Hollingsworth was driving his white 2012 GMC Yukon alongside a Dodge Challenger while drag racing on April 15. Police say he admitted to being a part of “the group” that was also blocking intersections so that cars could spin inside the ‘pit.’ While he was racing the Challenger through an intersection near Fesslers Lane, he was unable to avoid an oncoming vehicle, and crashed into the vehicle, leaving the driver with injuries. Security video from nearby businesses showed him weaving in and out of traffic and racing before the crash. Hollingsworth was charged with drag racing via a state citation and was booked on the charge this week.

DUI: Chris Snan admits to drinking and smoking prior to crash on I-40

27-year-old Christopher Snan was jailed on March 12th after losing control of his 2019 Dodge Challenger on I-40 and striking a retaining wall just after 11 p.m. while allegedly being under the influence of drugs and alcohol. When officers arrived on the scene, they smelled alcohol coming from Snan. He told police he drank 3-4 hours before driving. Snan was detained and relocated to a shell gas station and spoke with a different officer who could also smell alcohol on his breath. He told this officer that he drank 5 hours before driving and smoked marijuana around 8 am. He consented to Sobriety tests and performed poorly with multiple indicators of impairment. He told police that his shoulder hurt from the crash, and he had bad knees from previous injuries, which could impact his field sobriety tests.

D’Ante VanNuck charged with drag racing in Nashville

25-year-old D’Ante VanNuck is charged with drag racing after police say he rolled down the window of his 2019 black Dodge Charger at a Murfreesboro Pike intersection, interacted with the driver of a red Ford Mustang beside him, and the two raced down the roadway at a high rate of speed after sitting for a period of time after the light turned green. VanNuck was stopped on I-40 after officers caught up with the vehicle and charged with drag racing.

California Tourist punches cop in face after being kicked out of Kid Rock’s Bar — Connor Brink-Sawyer

Metro Nashville Police offices say they repeatedly pleaded with 24-year-old Connor Lee Brink-Sawyer to go on about his night after he was kicked out of Kid Rock’s bar in downtown Nashville for fighting inside the venue. Brink-Sawyer repeatedly tried to re-enter the bar and was extremely intoxicated. Despite attempts to let him walk away, he became aggressive toward officers, resulting in his initial arrest for public intoxication. As an officer began to take him into custody for a charge he would have walked away from after a sobering-up period, Brink-Sawyer began to swing his fists at officers, he landed a punch on the face of Officer Michael Jason Leon Hones.

Brink-Sawyer was transported to the Metro Nashville Jail, where he was charged with public intoxication, disorderly conduct, resisting arrest, and assault of an officer. Connor Brink-Sawyer, who is from Modesto, CA, is free on pre-trial release. Today is his 24th birthday.
