Jose Vargas charged with DUI in downtown Nashville

23-year-old Jose Vargas was driving on 1st Ave near Broadway in the early hours of Sunday morning when officers conducted a traffic stop due to the absence of headlights being turned on. As they spoke with Vargas, it was apparent he was visibly intoxicated. He admitted to consuming one, then five, alcoholic beverages at a bar he had just left with his two passengers. He performed poorly on field sobriety tests, according to Detective Myers; however, Officer Amabile conducted the same tests and stated he did not observe the same indicators of intoxication. He eventually blew a 0.069% BAC on a breathalyzer over an hour after the initial traffic stop. 

Lindsey Morrissey — deemed too drunk for downtown Nashville

29-year-old Lindsey Morrisey was standing in the middle of 4th Ave in downtown Nashville late Saturday night with heavy traffic around her. Officers noticed her in the roadway and responded to check on her welfare. She was escorted out of the roadway, only to return immediately. Due to her state of intoxication, she was taken into custody and charged with public intoxication. A search incident to arrest revealed an empty liquor bottle on her person. 

Collin Erdman cried and begged not to be arrested for DUI — he was walking

26-year-old Collin Erdman was found on the streets of downtown Nashville in the early hours of Sunday morning, where he says his roommate had just dropped him off to avoid a DUI. When officers encountered him, Erdman had just thrown his cell phone, which struck a random woman and caused her lip to bleed. He was reportedly extremely intoxicated and kept crying and begging not to be charged with DUI (despite being on foot). The woman refused to press charges, and Erdman was taken into custody for public intoxication.

Michael Farmer — too drunk for downtown Nashville

Patrons near Jason Aldean’s Bar flagged down officers working the Entertainment District late Saturday night to alert them that a very drunken 27-year-old Michael Farmer was staggering around and pulling on random door handles. Officers made contact with Farmer, who was typing random letters into his phone while staggering. He was described as incoherent, with slurred speech and repeated words and phrases. As he was being taken into custody, he was unable to sit upright in the back of a patrol car. He claimed to have only consumed 2-3 alcoholic drinks.

Tourist Daniel Leja puts security manager in headlock during Honky Tonk Central brawl

40-year-old Daniel Leja was in a group of “unruly and intoxicated” patrons at Honky Tonk Central in the early hours of Saturday morning who were fighting and causing a ruckus. Security manager Cameron Moores left his office to assist the staff on the floor, and while directing patrons to leave, he was placed in a headlock by Leja. The other staff took Leja to the ground and detained him until police arrived.

Musician Nate Lupi charged after shattering Rippy’s glass door in downtown Nashville

22-year-old Nashville musician Nate Lupi was jailed on felony vandalism and public intoxication charges late Friday night after staff from Rippy’s Honky Tonk say he shattered their glass front door with his foot as he was being ejected from the bar for disorderly conduct. Lupi told police he consumed three shots of tequila inside immediately prior to the incident. 

Fort Campbell’s Christopher Jones arrested after drunken traffic cone rage in downtown Nashville

Metro Nashville Police Officers working the Entertainment District Initiative in downtown Nashville encountered 32-year-old Christopher Benjamin Jones of Fort Campbell, KY, near 1st & Broadway. Officers watched Jones as he was in a “highly agitated state” while talking on the phone with his wife. They watched as he kicked a traffic cone across three lanes of traffic, with approximately twenty pedestrians nearby. He refused to listen to officers and admitted to drinking. Due to his highly intoxicated state, he was taken into custody and charged with public intoxication.
