Nathaniel Starr tells police “I like them old” after being accused of inappropriately touching a child

39-year-old Nathaniel Starr was taken into custody for sexual battery and indecent exposure on April 13th after officers were dispatched to the Cambodian International Buddhist Temple on Dellway Drive regarding a 14-year-old boy being inappropriately touched. When officers arrived, the boy told them he and his father were at the location to celebrate Chinese New Year, adding that his father’s acquaintance, Starr, also attended the event. The juvenile victim advised that his dad had to drop someone off and asked him to accompany him, but Starr interjected and suggested he stay with him at the party.

During the party, both he and Starr went to the bathroom together, where Starr cupped the juvenile victim’s buttocks, attempting to pull him toward him, so he pushed him away, which was when Starr lowered his pants and showed his penis. The juvenile victim stated he ran from the bathroom and went to get help.

When officers questioned Starr, he said he had come to the party with his husband. He added that he had gone to the bathroom, and when he came out, people were screaming at him, and he didn’t know why until he was detained by security. Officers asked Starr if he knew the 14-year-old, which he initially said no before telling them he knew him through his father.

He admitted to having “a couple of shots” and stated that he had no idea why the boy would be accusing him. Starr admitted to going to the bathroom with the juvenile victim but insisted that nothing sexual occurred, adding, “I do not like them young; I like them old.” A witness told officers that the juvenile victim approached him after running from the bathroom, telling them, “That guy just touched me and showed me his dick.” He added that when Starr walked out of the bathroom, the boy pointed him out.

Tommie Fiffer grabs a man’s buttocks without consent

63-year-old Tommie Terry Fiffer inappropriately touched Keelan Guthrie while he was working on March 16th. Guthrie alerted the authorities and advised them that while he was engaged in his duties, he was approached from behind by a man, later identified as Fiffer. He further explained that Fiffer placed one hand on his shoulder and, with his other hand, grabbed his buttocks. Guthrie said he had not consented to this and found it highly offensive. Guthrie took a photo of Fiffer as he walked away. The photo showed a man wearing a blue hat, blue shirt, and blue pants with black and white tennis shoes. Guthrie then filed a police report and advised that he did not know the man’s name but had seen him on previous occasions and believed he was homeless.

On March 21st, officers observed Fiffer near 3rd Avenue South and Broadway, wearing the same outfit from Guthrie’s photograph. Fiffer identified himself with his Tennessee Identification card. Guthrie was unable to identify him in a photo line-up, but detectives were able to identify him after reviewing body-worn camera footage. Fiffer was then taken into custody on April 8th for sexual battery.

Veterinarian Michael Copeland charged with sexually assaulting woman from Tin Roof

28-year-old Cookeville veterinarian Michael Ryan Copeland was taken into custody for a sexual battery incident that happened on May 14th, 2022. Copeland and his male friend met two other females at Tin Roof Bar on Demonbreun Street, where they had drinks. While at the bar, one of the females invited his friend to her apartment across the street, so they left. While they were headed there, one of the females was heavily intoxicated, so they assisted her and carried her the rest of the way. Once everyone was inside, the drunk female became “violently ill” and started vomiting, so her friend bathed her, dressed her in clean clothes, and then went back to her room with Copeland’s friend once Copeland volunteered to watch over the drunk female just in case she vomited or aspirated.

Her memory of the events was largely missing due to her intoxication level; however, she clearly remembers waking up in the middle of the night to Copeland touching her vagina, making skin-to-skin contact with his hand in her underwear, asking if she had “liked it,” which was when she told him to stop. She fell asleep and woke up the next morning with Copeland beside her. She added that her shorts were removed, and she woke up only wearing a shirt and underwear. She demanded to know where her clothes were, and Copeland retrieved them from the couch near her feet.

The victim left and contacted the police to file a report of sexual assault. A Medical-Legal Examination, MLE, was conducted, and they drew her blood, where they discovered she still had alcohol in her system several hours after the prior evening. In March 2024, detectives contacted her, and she identified Copeland in a photo lineup, adding that she wished to seek prosecution for the incident. When they reached out to him, he refused to provide a statement, so they spoke with the other individuals who were there that night, who confirmed Copeland was on the couch with the victim. He was booked on March 28th, 2024.

Kyle Bassett indicted by Grand Jury for rape

The Davidson County Grand Jury indicted 25-year-old Kyle Bassett on March 6th after being charged with four counts of rape, a count of aggravated assault, and a count of sexual battery. The indictment alleges that on December 11th, 2023, Kyle Bassett engaged in unlawful sexual penetration by force and strangulation. A judicial commissioner set his bond at $150,000.

Zachary Zytkowski grabs woman’s breast at Nashville International Airport

31-year-old Zachary Peter Zytkowski inappropriately touched a passenger, Kelsey Laflin, near the Gate 27 area in Nashville International Airport on the morning of February 29th. Witnesses pointed Zytkowski out when officers arrived, stating he was the suspect. Then, Officers spoke with Laflin, who said she was walking toward her gate and felt “a single hand cup my left breast and squeeze,” explaining that she did not know him or give him permission for the contact. Officers reviewed CCTV footage, which correlated with Laflin’s statement, and then placed Zytkowski into custody for sexual battery.

Luz Becerra-Quezada jailed after sexually assaulting 13-year-old girl

28-year-old Luz Angel Becerra-Quezada was taken into custody for sexual battery on February 19th. Officers were dispatched to Winston Drive and spoke with the 13-year-old Juvenile Victim/JV’s parents. Her parents advised officers that Becerra-Quezada admitted to going to JV’s room and told them he was sorry for what he did. Detectives talked to JV, who stated she was asleep when she felt someone come into her room and sit on her bed. She said that she felt a hand touch her leg, going up toward her private area. Before the hand could reach her private area, she turned on the flashlight from her cell phone and saw that it was Becerra-Quezada, causing him to stop and leave the room. JV’s parents told officers there was a camera in the house and footage showed Becerra-Quezada deactivating it at 3:20 in the morning. Luz Becerra-Quezada was taken into custody and charged with sexual battery on February 19th.

John Vonkleeck indicted on multiple counts of rape, sexual battery

A Davidson County Grand Jury indicted 25-year-old John Everett Vonkleeck for two counts of rape and two counts of sexual battery on February 7th. The indictment alleges Vonkleeck, between the 29th day of July 2023 and the 30th day of July 2023, in Davidson County, Tennessee, before the finding of this indictment, did attempt to commit the offense of rape. In that he, John Everett Vonkleeck, did attempt to engage in unlawful sexual penetration of JL. In addition, Vonkleeck knew or had reason to know that JL was mentally defective, mentally incapacitated or physically helpless against the peace and dignity of the State of Tennessee. Vonkleeck was taken into custody on February 9th.

Michael Barker charged with Sexual Battery after groping coworker, asks multiple times to “hit it”

43-year-old Michael Barker, a security guard, was overly aggressive with a female co-worker at Bar Continental in the early hours of July 24th. In May, she advised officers that Barker had been sending her sexual messages on Instagram, asking her if he could “hit,” implying sexual intercourse. After she discouraged his behavior, he stated he was “just kidding.” The chat shows Barker talking about returning to work, stating, “I didn’t squeeze your booty like I said I would, so don’t be like that.” She never condoned the messages. Then, on July 24th, she said they were having a normal conversation at work, and Barker started to change the subject to something sexual before squeezing her buttocks, asking if he could “hit it.” She expressed disinterest, and then Barker put his arm around her head, not letting her go, acting like he was trying to kiss her. She told him he was messing her hair up and to let her go, then Barker allegedly grabbed her vaginal area. She pulled away from him, and he drove away from the area. Barker spoke with officers and stated he had been sexual with her in messages, admitting that he grabbed her buttocks but not her vaginal area because he “isn’t into black girls.” The incident was captured on camera, and Barker was taken into custody for two counts of sexual battery on December 14th.

Devotis Shelton jailed for sexual battery incident at West End Avenue 7/11

26-year-old Devotis J Shelton was jailed on October 31st for an outstanding warrant regarding a sexual battery incident that occurred in June 2021. On 6/13/2021, Clara Wyszynsiki-Silva was at 7/11 on West End Avenue to get gas when she noticed Shelton staring at her through her windshield as he walked into the store. Silva had issues with her card at the pump, so she went inside to pay. As she approached the front door, Shelton was exiting, so she nervously moved to avoid him. Then, Shelton moved to reach Silva and grabbed her shirt, tearing it, before grabbing her right breast and fleeing as she yelled at him. Silva then went inside to tell 7/11 employees what happened. Officers received surveillance from 7/11 consistent with this version of events and were given screenshots of Shelton to identify him. Silva was later given a photo lineup and pinpointed Shelton as the assailant.

Brock Gibson jailed after grabbing woman’s butt, another’s vagina, at Tequila Cowboy

40-year-old Brock Gibson reportedly grabbed a woman’s butt and another woman’s vagina outside Tequila Cowboy on August 26th. The woman, Delaina Young, told police after they were flagged down outside Honky Tonk Central that she felt someone grab her butt as she was walking outside the Tequila Cowboy. She turned around and saw Brock standing behind her, then watched him grab another woman “by the v*gina”. Witness Shacarolyn Alexander said that she watched Brock grab Delaina’s butt and the other woman’s vagina. The other woman walked away and was not present to report on the situation. Police made contact with Brock, who showed signs of being visibly intoxicated. He was placed into custody for sexual battery and public intoxication. While in transport, Brock spit on the back window of the patrol car and then vomited in the back seat. Police pulled him out of the vehicle and waited for Brock to feel okay before continuing transport. After they resumed transporting Brock, he puked all over the back of the car again.
