Tyla Griffin backhands boyfriend, records his reaction during argument

20-year-old Tyla Griffin was involved in a domestic incident with Devonte Pentegrass at an Elm Street residence. When officers arrived on the scene, they heard arguing through the door and proceeded to speak with Pentegrass. Pentegrass claimed Griffin had backhand slapped him across the face. Pentegrass also stated that Griffin was slapping and saying offensive things to him the entire night to provoke him and told her she needed to leave but Griffin refused. This is when Pentegrass learned that Griffin was recording his reactions to her slapping him and being offensive.

Officers then spoke with Griffin, who initially claimed she had evidence of Pentegrass strangling her but later retracted her statement when officers asked her about it again. Griffin then admitted to slapping him earlier in the night. Officers deemed Griffin to be the primary aggressor, and while searching through her belongings, they found a small bag of marijuana and a THC vape. Griffin was taken in custody for domestic assault and simple possession of drug paraphernalia.

DUI: Brea Charnae Williams caught with marijuana after letting drunk friend drive her car

23-year-old Brea Charnae Williams rode as a passenger while Braenee Redden-Lee swerved over the center median on I-24 late April 13th. Then, Redden-Lee drifted, trying to return to her travel lane, but drove in both lanes. Officers observed this and initiated a traffic stop, where she was slow to respond and continued driving, disregarding their emergency equipment. Officers then shined their spotlight at the driver’s side mirror to get Redden-Lee to pull over to the right shoulder, which she did after approximately 1.5 miles. Officers approached the passenger side and observed Williams, Redden-Lee, and an unidentified female in the car, reeking of alcohol.

When they advised Redden-Lee why they stopped her and requested her driver’s credentials, she had a bracelet on her wrist like ones used at nightclubs to purchase alcoholic beverages. Officers discovered she had a suspended license and had her exit the vehicle for questioning.  When officers asked if Redden-Lee would take sobriety tests, she said, “No.” Officers searched Redden-Lee and located a black handgun with a loaded magazine. She was detained and placed in the rear of the patrol vehicle.

Then, they asked Williams to exit the car, where she provided them with her identification and told them the vehicle was hers, stating, “Yes, I just bought it, and I am making $1000 payments a month.”  She was then detained and placed into the patrol car. Officers searched the vehicle and found marijuana and mushrooms in a brown purse, which Redden-Lee claimed. Additionally, they found another package of marijuana in the center console, which Williams admitted was hers after being Mirandized. Williams was then taken into custody for simple possession and driving under the influence.

DUI: Michael Givan drives erratically down I-24 East, tells police he was “trying to keep up with his parents”

19-year-old Michael Givan was seen swerving in his lane at Interstate 24 East on April 16th. Officers closely observed Givan continue to do this and rapidly change his speed. A traffic stop was conducted when Givan’s erratic behavior continued. When officers contacted Givan, they noticed two passengers in the back seat and another in the front seat. Givan was questioned about how he was driving, and he stated that he was “trying to keep up with his parents,” who were in front of him. While speaking to Givan, an officer reportedly noticed the smell of marijuana coming from his vehicle. Givan appeared nervous to the officer, so he asked for his license, which he said he left at home. Givan was told to exit the car and was asked if he had any marijuana on him or inside his vehicle. Givan shortly confessed that there was a bag of marijuana on the driver’s side door. Officers returned to the car to seize the bag of marijuana but instead found that Givan’s step-brother, Anthony Allen, climbed across the center console into the driver’s seat. Allen also appeared to be under the influence of marijuana, so he was told to exit the car. Givan was asked if Allen had any marijuana in his possession, and Givan told them that he believed he did.

Officers asked Allen if there was any marijuana on his person, and he admitted that there was. The two other passengers were asked to leave the vehicle so officers could search it. Officers located a plastic baggie containing marijuana and a blue backpack containing a plastic sandwich bag with several marijuana joints inside. During the search, law enforcement found that Givan’s license was suspended in Kentucky for failing to complete traffic school. An officer requested Givan to perform sobriety tests to see if he could still operate his car. Givan consented to the sobriety tests but performed poorly. The total amount of marijuana seized was 19.1 grams.

Michael Givan was taken into custody and charged with simple possession, driving under the influence, and driving on a suspended license on April 17th.

DUI: Braenee Redden-Lee caught with marijuana, mushrooms and a fully loaded handgun

DUI: Zachery Thompson found passed out in car at APlus gas station, tells police he was “shooting up”

20-year-old Zachery Braden Shaun Thompson passed out behind the wheel of his pick-up truck at APlus late April 5th. Officers were leaving the gas station when they observed this, so they approached him and noticed his vehicle was running. Officers noticed the gear was in drive, and Thompson’s foot was on the brake. Officers also saw a used syringe, a spoon with a white, powdery substance, and a lighter. Officers put the truck in park, turned it off, and put the key out of reach before alerting additional police officers. When they arrived, they obtained the drug paraphernalia, which Thompson explained he used to “shoot up” before the incident. He agreed to sobriety tests and performed poorly. Officers Mirandized Thompson, and he explained that he picked his buddy up to take him to buy dope. After Thompson’s friend purchased the dope, he returned to the gas station. Thompson stated his buddy then gave him a little bit and left but was going to return. Thompson then began “shooting up” and passed out before his friend came back to the vehicle. Thompson agreed to provide a blood sample and was taken into custody for driving under the influence and the unlawful use of drug paraphernalia.

Ryland Ford gets into scuffle with woman after snorting cocaine at Luke’s 32 Bridge

21-year-old Ryland Cailis Ford and Olivia Leigh Harris were grabbing and pulling on each other in front of Luke’s 32 Bridge late April 6th. Upon arrival, officers were pointed to the incident and advised that they showed signs of impairment during their scuffle. Officers noticed Ford reeked of alcohol and appeared not to understand them when they questioned him about arranging a ride home. Additionally, he had a bloody nose and a hand twitch consistent with cocaine usage. Ford then became uncooperative and tried to walk away, so officers stopped and detained him. During an arrest search, they located a small bag of cocaine in his wallet. Ford was taken into custody for simple possession and public intoxication.

Marissa Woodall shoplifts at Home Depot, caught with 62 grams of marijuana

30-year-old Marissa Woodall, a Nashville State Community College employee, and her boyfriend tried to exit without paying for items at the Home Depot on Highway 70 South on February 26th. Home Depot Employees observed them putting merchandise under their shirt and trying to leave the store. So, the employees flagged officers down, pointing at Woodall and her boyfriend. The employees told Woodall and her boyfriend they could not leave the store, but they continued walking out anyway. Once they got outside, Woodall tried to run with her boyfriend, who was running across the parking lot. However, Woodall was caught and detained before she could escape. Officers questioned her about the theft, and as she emptied her purse, they found 62 grams of marijuana in a container and a straw with residue. Officers continued searching the purse and located a pack of baggies, four cut straws, and $1 bills with residue, which she stated was Methamphetamine laced with Fentanyl. Woodall was cited for unlawful use of drug paraphernalia and two counts of simple possession on February 26th. Woodall was taken into custody on March 18th.

Douglas Harris drunkenly brings dollar bills containing cocaine to booking

31-year-old Douglas Harris tried to enter a random apartment at the Tampa Drive apartments in the late hours of January 31st. The apartment resident stated Harris was beating on the door and yelling loudly. When the officers arrived, he pointed Harris out to them, so they drove over and called out to him, but he dismissively waved his hands. When they approached Harris, he held his hands together at his waistband, so they drew their pistol in self-defense, ordering him to show his hands, to which he complied. Officers detained him and tried to conduct an interview but noticed he was visibly intoxicated. A subsequent search led to them locating a bottle of Svedka Vodka and a dollar bill folded up with a small amount of cocaine in his front pocket.  During his arrest, he screamed, “Help me!” at the top of his lungs multiple times, annoying the apartment residents. Harris was taken into custody for resisting arrest, simple possession, public intoxication, and disorderly conduct. When they got him to the booking, deputies found two one-dollar bills containing cocaine in his wallet, consistent with the illicit transport of cocaine for use. Additionally, Harris was charged with having contraband in a penal institution.

Porsha Leggs found in stolen vehicle with cocaine, chore boy, Oxycodone

32-year-old Porsha Leggs was in a stolen Kia Sorento at the Discount Tobacco Center on Jenkins Street on January 22nd. Officers followed the vehicle to the alley near Rosa L Parks Boulevard and Garfield Street, where they observed Leggs exiting it. They detained her immediately, found that she had no valid driver’s license, and located the keys to the Sorento. A subsequent search led to them discovering two pipes, a chore boy scrubbing pad commonly used in smoking crack cocaine, some cocaine wrapped in paper, and four Oxycodone pills in a paper towel. Leggs was taken into custody for unlawful use of drug paraphernalia, two counts of simple possession, theft, and driving without a valid driver’s license.

Tyron Dalton drives on wrong side of road, caught with marijuana

20-year-old Tyron Lamont Dalton was driving the wrong way toward oncoming traffic by RiverGate Mall on November 6th. Officers observed this, conducted a traffic stop, and noticed a strong odor of marijuana as they approached the driver’s side. A probable cause search yielded a small blunt in a bag with Dalton’s ID. Dalton was booked on a citation for simple possession on December 11th.
