18-year-old James Trenton Curtis was being disorderly, taking photos in the patient care area at Vanderbilt University Hospital’s Trauma Unit around 6:33 p.m. on April 9th. When VUPD Sergeant Garrett Bennett arrived, he spoke with security, who told him Curtis was asked to leave and placed on a twelve-hour visitation ban. He initially complied and returned to confront security, but Bennett intervened and started speaking with him. Curtis requested to speak with a supervisor, and Bennett told him he was the supervisor and agreed to talk with him while they were leaving the floor. Curtis refused to leave at first, but after Bennett asked him to leave repeatedly, he complied. Curtis then recorded the interaction on the floor and elevator as he accompanied him to the lobby. While in the lobby, Curtis went through the entrance as if he were going to leave, stopped at the doorway, turned around, and started recording the lobby. Then, Bennett approached him and told him to leave the property, but he refused and asked for a supervisor again, even after being informed that Bennett was multiple times. Curtis was then taken into custody for criminal trespass and disorderly conduct.

Williams Cateno follows ex-girlfriend to movie theater after learning she’s with another man
18-year-old Williams Alexander Cateno parked and left his car in the One Hundred Oaks Regal parking lot on March 31st. Cateno started pacing while on the phone and became irate. VUPD officers observed this and conducted a welfare check, asking if he needed assistance. While officers were trying to gather Cateno’s information, he was extremely uncooperative with providing his identity. Cateno told officers he followed his ex-girlfriend to the theater because she was at the movies with another guy. Officers explained to Cateno that he was detained and needed to identify him for more information, but he continued to disobey. Officers went to arrest him, during which Cateno pulled away and took off running. Officers later caught up to him after he dropped his phone on the ground. Officers then ran Cateno’s VIN and spoke with his mother, who confirmed his identity. After they towed his vehicle, Canteno was taken into custody for resisting arrest on April 1st.
Eric Kowalik says he was “where he was supposed to be,” drunk on the ground
37-year-old Eric Kowalik was found on the ground sleeping at the Vanderbilt Clinic in the early hours of Monday morning, shortly after last call. He reeked of alcohol, and officers asked why he was sleeping on the ground. Without hesitation, Kowalik explained he was exactly where he was supposed to be. He admitted to consuming a “few” drinks and was taken into custody for public intoxication.
Petty Vanderbilt Police charge George Woods with marijuana possession in parking lot
Sgt Orlando Dixson of the Vanderbilt University Police Department charged 22-year-old George Woods IV with marijuana possession on January 20. Dixson says he approached an illegally parked vehicle in a Vanderbilt University parking lot and noticed the seats were laid all the way back. Two small bags of marijuana were in plain view, and the driver, Woods, admitted it was his marijuana for personal use. Woods was booked on the citation this week.
Tony Gainous repeatedly kicked out of Vanderbilt Football game after jumping gates to re-enter
41-year-old Tony A. Gainous is charged with public intoxication and criminal trespass after his behavior at a Vanderbilt Football game last week. Vanderbilt Police initially responded to an individual, identified as Gainous, who was sitting in the wrong section. It was soon discovered he did not have a ticket to the game and was escorted outside the gates. A short time later, he jumped the gate and drunkenly ran onto the football field, stumbling and falling. He was issued a criminal trespass warning and again escorted from the property. Still not deterred, Gainous then jumped Gate 2 to get into the stadium. Tired of dealing with his antics, Vanderbilt police took him into custody and transported him to booking downtown.
Christopher Gainous jumps fence into Vanderbilt Stadium, attempts to headbutt Vandy fans
35-year-old Christopher Kyle Gainous was escorted out of Vanderbilt Stadium Saturday night after police say he jumped the fence and didn’t have a ticket to the game. He was told to leave the property and not return while he was screaming and yelling at Vanderbilt fans. After being escorted out, he re-entered the stadium and was part of a group that was attempting to run across the football field at approximately 8:30 p.m. As he was placed into cuffs, he continued to be disorderly and attempted to headbutt another Vanderbilt fan. Officers say he “reeked of alcohol” during their interaction.
William Jenkins charged after sexual incident at Vanderbilt University Parking Lot
Vanderbilt University student Kristen Lambert says she was in a campus parking lot when 34-year-old William Lozelle Jenkins walked up to her car and approached her driver’s side window, blocking her from leaving. He reportedly unzipped his pants, lowered them, and began to pleasure himself while telling Lambert, “I’ll make your ***** wet,” and “my drugs will make you *** faster.” Officers located Jenkins and took him into custody after a brief struggle and the assistance of additional officers. He had an encounter earlier in the day where he was intimidating and following a Vanderbilt employee and was told to leave the property at that time.
Lacey Jaremko charged in assault over 100 Oaks parking space
44-year-old Lacey Jaremko is charged with the misdemeanor assault of Lavontinett Washington after a dispute over a parking spot outside the Petsmart at 100 Oaks Mall in Nashville. The incident occurred just after 10 a.m. on a Monday when shows that Jaremko was physically fighting with Lavontinett Washington over a specific parking sport. She is seen pushing Washington and was cited for assault.
Nancy Kacena, 71, says she took Hyrdocodone hours before crashing into parked vehicle
Vanderbilt University Police responded to a multi-car crash just after 2 p.m. Wednesday on 25th Ave S. near Garland, where a gray BMW struck a red Chevy pickup truck that was parked on the sidewalk as workers were performing maintenance. The driver of the BMW, 71-year-old Nancy Carr Kacena, stated she didn’t know what happened to cause the crash and was unable to locate the “park” button on her vehicle when asked to engage it. She stated she had not consumed any alcohol but did take other medication, including prescribed Hydrocodone. She was unable to stand on her own and performed poorly on field sobriety tests. Kacena was charged with DUI and transported to booking.
Drunk on a lemon drop, Yolanda Matthews causes wild scene at West End Hotel in Nashville
Just after 9 p.m. Wednesday, Vanderbilt University Police responded to the Nashville Marriott Vanderbilt on West End after a guest had reported hearing a domestic disturbance coming from an adjacent room. Hotel staff confirmed the yelling and screaming coming from a third-floor room, and officers spoke with the registered guest, 54-year-old Yolanda Matthews. She advised she and her husband had a verbal disagreement, and she was going to go back inside her room and drink the remainder of her lemon drop as her husband was already outside the hotel.
While police spoke to her husband, Yolanda came downstairs and was irate with hotel staff and patrons. She was advised to return to her room; instead, she turned to her husband and screamed, “You MuthaF**ka, you did this!” and threw herself onto the ground in front of officers. She was collected from the floor and transported to booking.
