DUI: Monica Hopkins caught driving drunk with gun in reach

45-year-old Monica Mae Hopkins was jailed on April 18th after reports of a woman vomiting in the parking lot outside of her white Jeep in the early hours of April 18th. When NFD responded, Hopkins refused medical treatment. Upon arrival, officers noticed she was still in the driver’s seat of her Jeep, which was running, and as they approached, they saw empty alcoholic beverages and a handgun near her glove compartment.

Hopkins appeared confused when officers asked her what today’s date was, so they prompted her with sobriety tests, which she consented to and performed poorly. Hopkins then admitted to having a few drinks and being intoxicated. Hopkins was transported to Nashville General for clearance and then was taken into custody for driving under the influence, possession of a handgun while under the influence, and an open container violation.

DUI: Braenee Redden-Lee caught with marijuana, mushrooms and a fully loaded handgun

25-year-old Braenee Redden-Lee swerved over the center median on I-24 late April 13th. Then, she drifted, trying to return to her travel lane, but drove in both lanes. Officers observed this and initiated a traffic stop, where she was slow to respond and continued driving, disregarding their emergency equipment. Officers shined their spotlight at the driver’s side mirror to get her to pull over to the right shoulder, which she did after approximately 1.5 miles. They approached the passenger side and observed the driver, Redden-Lee, and passenger, Brea Williams, with an unidentified female in the car, reeking of alcohol.

When officers advised Redden-Lee why they stopped her and requested her driver’s credentials, she had a bracelet on her wrist like ones used at nightclubs to purchase alcoholic beverages. They discovered she had a suspended license and had her exit the vehicle for questioning.  When officers asked if she would take sobriety tests, she said, “No.”

During a search, officers located a black handgun with a loaded magazine. Redden-Lee was detained and placed in the rear of the patrol vehicle. The officers then asked Williams to exit the car, where she provided them with her identification and told them the vehicle was hers, stating, “Yes, I just bought it, and I am making $1000 payments a month.”  She was also detained and placed in the patrol car.

Officers searched the vehicle and found marijuana and mushrooms in a brown purse, which Redden-Lee claimed. Additionally, they found another package of marijuana in the center console, which Williams admitted was hers. Redden-Lee refused to provide a chemical sample after being informed of implied consent and was taken into custody for driving under the influence, two counts of simple possession, driving with a suspended license, implied consent violation, and possession of a weapon while under the influence.

DUI: Jacob Hudelston caught with handgun after crashing into rock wall on I-65 South

30-year-old Jacob Huddleston had a single-vehicle accident where he drove off the roadway and collided with a rock wall near Exit 74A on I-65 South in the early hours of April 14th. When officers arrived, Huddleston told them he was unsure which direction he was going or how he had gone off the road, but he believed he was driving onto the I-65 South entrance ramp from Old Hickory Boulevard. They noticed he reeked of alcohol and asked him if he had consumed any, to which he said no. He refused to take sobriety tests but allowed them to check his eyes, where they found indication of intoxication. Hudelston declined to provide a chemical sample and, under Miranda, told them he had three beers a little after midnight. During an inventory search, officers located a half-empty liquor bottle, a couple of beers in his vehicle, and a loaded handgun in one of the pockets of his backpack. When asked about the gun, he said, “Yes, I inherited it,” so it was seized. Huddleston was taken into custody for driving under the influence, implied consent, weapon possession while under the influence, and an open-container violation.

Antonio Rivera caught with 36.4 grams of marijuana at Greyhound Bus Station

42-year-old Antonio Rivera was jailed on March 20th after police responded to the Greyhound Bus Station on Rep John Lewis Way South for a bag containing drugs and a weapon. An employee of the Greyhound found the bag underneath the seat of a vacant Greyhound bus. A search of the bag located a loaded Iver Johnson handgun, a large bag of marijuana weighing approximately 36.4 grams, and two receipts with Rivera’s name. Officers found Rivera and asked him to step off the premises. He was immediately detained and admitted that the bag belonged to him. Rivera explained that he let a fellow passenger from Indiana smoke from his vape and was given the marijuana in exchange. As far as the gun, he stated he carries it for protection. Rivera was taken into custody and charged with having a weapon under the influence, possession with intent to sell, public intoxication, and firearm during a felony on March 20th.

DUI: Jeffrey Degraffenreid refuses sobriety tests because he is already intoxicated

61-year-old Jeffrey Degraffenreid damaged his front right tire, causing his car to break down in the middle of Morrow Ave around 8:16 p.m. on March 19th. Officers observed this and went to assist because it was a safety hazard. When they approached, Degraffenreid did not know why his car was not moving, and they noticed he reeked of alcohol. He told them he was coming from the liquor store and then admitted to drinking before driving there. Degraffenreid had a .380 ACP on the left side of his hip, so officers removed it from the holster and unloaded it for their safety. Officers asked if he would perform sobriety tests, which he refused, asking why he would take them if he was already intoxicated. Degraffenreid agreed to provide a chemical sample after being informed of implied consent and then was taken into custody for driving under the influence and possession of a weapon while being under the influence.

DUI: Justin Kindred defecates on himself after drinking 2 shots of Tequila

30-year-old Justin Kindred was found impaired at Briley Parkway on March 10th. When officers contacted Kindred, he told them he didn’t need medical attention. It appeared that Kindred had vomited on the side of his truck and defecated. Once officers told him to get out of his vehicle, he admitted to drinking two shots of tequila. Kindred consented to sobriety tests but was halted due to safety concerns. When officers conducted a probable cause search, they located a Smith and Wesson 9mm handgun. Kindred was read implied consent and refused to provide a sample. Kindred was taken into custody for DUI, implied consent, and possessing a weapon under the influence.

DUI: Dominic Rivera pops Adderall and drinks beer before driving with fully loaded pistol

25-year-old Dominic Rivera II failed to stop in his black 2016 Lexus at a posted stop sign near 51st Avenue and Indiana Avenue late March 8th. Officers observed this, conducted a traffic stop, and then noticed he reeked of alcohol as they approached the driver’s side to speak with him. They also saw two Coors Light’s, one empty, one a quarter-full, and a Hennessy bottle in the center console. Rivera II told them that he had taken some Adderall earlier in the day, and two hours later, he had two beers with his dinner. He consented to sobriety tests, performed poorly, and was informed of implied consent, which he refused. A search of his vehicle resulted in them locating a Glock Gen5 pistol with one in the chamber and a fully loaded magazine. Rivera was taken into custody for the possession of a handgun while under the influence, implied consent, and driving under the influence on March 9th.

DUI: Christopher Churchwell caught with gun after crashing car

45-year-old Christopher Churchwell had a single-vehicle accident on SR 155 in the early hours of March 9th. When officers arrived, they noticed Churchwell reeked of alcohol as he voluntarily handed them his firearm off his right hip. He consented to sobriety tests, performed poorly, and then denied implied consent. Churchwell was taken into custody for driving under the influence, possession of a handgun while under the influence, and implied consent.

DUI: Country Music Singer Dylan Wolfe crashes car on I-24 West, tells police he “looked down at his phone”

29-year-old Country Music Singer Dylan Wolfe had a single-vehicle accident on I-24 West in the early hours of February 29th. Wolfe spoke with officers when they arrived and told them that he “looked down at his phone,” causing the wreck. Then, Wolfe admitted to having three mixed drinks with Crown Royal Apple before driving. Wolfe consented to sobriety tests and performed poorly before refusing to provide a blood sample. During a subsequent search of his vehicle, Officers located a firearm in his center console. Wolfe was taken into custody for driving under the influence, implied consent, and weapon possession while under the influence.

Youssef Hanna shoots gun outside Larry’s Ultra Lounge, tells police he was “Just having fun”

25-year-old Youssef Hanna was seen shooting his firearm from the backseat of a silver sedan near Larry’s Ultra Lounge in the early hours of February 20th. Jamie Clark witnessed this and alerted the authorities, advising them that after the shots were fired, the sedan went down Murfreesboro Pike. Officers received an update on the vehicle, located it approaching Donelson Pike, and noticed the driver, later identified as Hanna’s father, arguing with Hanna. When officers initiated their emergency equipment and conducted a traffic stop, Hanna was the first to exit the vehicle. Officers also detained his mom, who was in the passenger seat, and his father, the driver. Detectives located a pistol grip in plain view in the pocket behind the driver’s seat, which was later identified as a black Smith & Wesson M&P Bodyguard .380 caliber that was loaded with a round in the chamber. Then, officers found a bag in the backseat containing 174 rounds of .380 caliber ammunition, magazines, and two more empty .380 shell casings. Hanna had an empty silver magazine in his pocket when officers searched him. Hanna admitted to shooting in the air from the car after drinking 4-5 beers and 4-5 shots of vodka at Larry’s Ultra Lounge. Officers tried to explain that shooting your firearm while intoxicated is a crime, and Hanna stated that he was “just having fun.” Hanna then explained that he thought it was okay to shoot it in the air and that he did not point it at anyone. Hanna was taken into custody for possessing a weapon while under the influence.
