DUI: Jodie Simpson crashes car on Lebanon Pike after snorting Xanax

45-year-old Jodie Simpson was involved in a car accident on Lebanon Pike late March 27th. When officers arrived, they observed Simpson in the passenger seat, where she advised that she was turning left when an oncoming car hit her vehicle. Officers noticed she showed signs consistent with being under the influence of an opiate. Simpson then stated she was prescribed Gabapentin and Metoprolol, adding that she had not taken any medication since yesterday afternoon. Simpson consented to sobriety tests, performed poorly, and agreed to provide a chemical sample after being informed about implied consent. Officers detained her and searched her car, during which they located a straw with a blue powdery substance in her purse. The blue powder found in the straw was consistent with her prescription of Alprazolam, a generic version of Xanax. Additionally, officers located her prescription Adderall and discovered that she was not taking the medications as prescribed after checking the date it was filled. Officers obtained a search warrant to obtain two vials of blood and transported her to Nashville General Hospital for the blood draw. Simpson was taken into custody for unlawful use of drug paraphernalia and driving under the influence.

Kathleen Reishtein Cooper — too drunk to fly in Nashville; Xanax into the jail

70-year-old Kathleen Cooper was jailed on April 14th after being kicked off a Southwest Airlines flight. Police responded and saw Cooper walking unsteadily down the jet bridge to board the flight as well as dropping her bags onto her head while trying to put her luggage into the overhead bins. When police asked her to exit the plane, she refused, so they had all the passengers deboard the plane except for Cooper, who they had to escort off of the aircraft against her will. They could smell alcohol coming from her breath when asking her how much she had to drink. She claimed to have had one cocktail at the restaurant 400 Degrees inside the airport. It was later discovered that Cooper was in possession of 4 and 3 half pills of Xanax without a prescription that she took into booking.

Erica Rosa takes Xanax inside holding cell while waiting on breathalyzer for DUI crash

25-year-old Erica Rosa was jailed on March 27th after crashing her 2020 Dodge Charger into several parked vehicles on 16th Avenue and fleeing the scene. Police checked surrounding areas and found Rosa on Buchannan Street matching the description from a witness. Rosa told officers that she was drunk but she wasn’t driving the charger. She didn’t have any shoes on her feet, but she did have shoes in her car. She told officers that she lived on Bell Road which was the destination pulled up on her GPS that was inside the car. When her car was searched, an open container of alcohol was found. Rosa agreed to a breathalyzer and later told police that while inside the breath testing room, she took a Xanax.

Elizabeth Parker Bibb charged in DUI crash with her child in the car

22-year-old Elizabeth Bibb is charged with DUI with a child after a November crash on I-40. Officers arrived to find Bibb and her four-year-old daughter in the Ford Fusion. Bibb was visibly intoxicated and unsteady on her feet as she was taken to an ambulance to be transported to a local hospital. Her stepfather advised he believed she had been drinking earlier in the day, and she confirmed she used both Xanax and alcohol. She reportedly told a doctor at the hospital she “got too drunk,” which was relayed to police. Due to her being admitted to the hospital, she was issued a state citation, which she was booked on this week.

Bobbie Larkin stored drugs in backpack of 7-year-old son; charged under Haley’s Law

35-year-old Bobbie Larkin told her 7-year-old son to grab his backpack as they exited the vehicle during a traffic stop after police had observed her conducting a drug deal just moments before. Inside the child’s backpack, detectives located 4.6 grams of cocaine, Oxycodone pills, and ammunition for the handgun that was stored in the glove box. During the traffic stop, Larkin also gave police consent to search her home, which was 2 miles away. Detectives froze the home, and she was brought to her residence to sign the consent form. A search of the home resulted in the seizure of nearly one pound of marijuana, digital scales, Xanax pills, 2 grams of cocaine, and multiple firearms. Larkins is being prosecuted under “Haley’s Law,” which could result in a 15-25 year sentence to serve just on the child abuse charge.

14 Xanax Bars: Desiree Ivey charged with felony possession with intent after drug transaction

18-year-old Desiree Ivey is free on pre-trial release after Metro Nashville Police stopped a vehicle she was in with Austin Watts, which was observed by undercover detectives at it was involved in a drug transaction at a West Nashville Thornton’s. Though Austin claimed his one-ounce baggie of marijuana from the vehicle, a search of the Tahoe revealed 14 Xanax bars in a blue purse located in Ivey’s seat, along with $140 in cash. She claimed the purse and drugs belonged to her Aunt.

Connor Cunningham pumps gas while friend overdoses, found with Xanax & heroin

19-year-old Connor Cunningham was at the gas pump at a Murfreesboro Pike gas station when an officer observed his front seat passenger appear to be overdosing with their head tilted back and eyes rolling backward. Concerned for their well-being, the officer attempted to initiate a traffic stop; however, Cunningham exited the parking lot, drove on the street, and pulled back into the parking lot while going very slow and attempting to wake the overdosing passenger while exchanging an item hand to hand. As medical arrived to assist, the passenger admitted they were both under the influence of several Xanax bars at the time. A vehicle search revealed 12 grams of a crystal substance in three baggies, believed to be methamphetamine, and a clear baggy with 2 grams of a tan substance believed to be heroin.

DUI: Mark Powell says he may have hallucinated seeing a deer on interstate & crashing into a car

52-year-old Mark Powell was driving on I-24 just before lunch Tuesday as he left his lane and made contact with another vehicle, causing them both to pull to the side of the interstate to file a report. The driver of the impacted vehicle contacted THP, stating that Powell was “not acting right” and was possibly intoxicated. Trooper Priest arrived and Powell claimed there was a deer on the interstate and he swerved to avoid it, but was unable to do so and impacted the deer. However, the other driver stated no deer was present. He then said he ran into the truck and not the deer, then seemed really confused about dates and times, and was holding onto his car for balance. He admitted to taking Xanax and Oxycodone, and states his medicines sometimes cause him to hallucinate.

23-year-old Mira Sean Kloepfel is charged with child endangerment (under eight years of age) and drug possession after police say she overdosed inside of a vehicle while her child was in the back seat. Once revived with Narcan, Kloepfel admitted she was using Fentanyl mixed with Xanax, which police found the remainder of inside her purse. A judicial commissioner set her bond at $27,500.
