DUI: Samantha Payne drinks beer before crashing car at Taco Bell

22-year-old Samantha Payne crashed her car at the Taco Bell on Rosa L Parks Blvd just before 3 a.m. on December 30th. Payne told responding officers she had been drinking beer before driving to Taco Bell for food. She was visibly intoxicated and performed poorly on field sobriety tests. She later blew a 0.201% BAC on a breathalyzer. Samantha Payne was taken into custody and charged with driving under the influence.

Tamia Taylor deemed too drunk for Broadway

23-year-old Tamia Taylor was booked on January 1st after an altercation at Ole Red on Broadway. When officers made contact with Taylor, they could smell alcohol coming from her breath as she slurred her side of the story. Officers determined Taylor to be a danger to herself and others, so officers took her into custody.

Rolly Cartwright too drunk for Whiskey Row after celebrating the new year

24-year-old Rolly Cartwright was jailed on New Year’s Day at 2 a.m. after police responded to a call of a disorderly person on Broadway. When officers arrived on the scene,  Cartwright had been detained by Whiskey Row security. They advised that he had been kicked out of the bar and continued to try to reenter. When officers made contact with Cartwright, they could smell alcohol coming from his breath, and he appeared visibly intoxicated. He admitted to drinking and was determined to be a danger to others if left unattended in his drunken state.

DUI: Terrence Bergbower found passed out in vehicle near Broadway on New Year’s Eve

26-year-old Terrence Bergbower was hanging out of his driver’s side door and slumped over a pile of vomit at the parking lot near Broadway behind Acme Feed and Seed late December 31st. Two concerned citizens noticed this and alerted authorities. They arrived and observed the vehicle was still running. At the same time, Bergbower was found asleep in the driver’s seat, hanging out of the driver’s side door with vomit below him. Officers woke up Bergbower, who advised officers that he was intoxicated and only sitting in the vehicle to stay warm. He consented to sobriety tests, performed poorly, and provided a breath sample, resulting in 0.114% BAC. Bergbower was taken into custody for driving under the influence on January 1st.

Kimberly Sullivan assaults boyfriend for not kissing her at midnight on New Year’s Eve

35-year-old Kimberly Erin Sullivan was involved in a domestic disturbance with her boyfriend, Robert Keith Bruno, at their apartment on Broadway early January 1st. Both parties were visibly intoxicated as they advised officers that they had been drinking before the incident. Bruno stated he and Sullivan argued but could not remember why. Then, he told them there was no physical altercation but that Sullivan threw a ketchup bottle at the wall. He had a self-inflicted wound on his pinky from punching the wall. Sullivan told officers that they argued regarding Bruno not kissing her at midnight. Sullivan also admitted that she threw the ketchup bottle and tried to slap him. Bruno grabbed Sullivan to restrain her after she attempted to hit him, initiating a physical struggle where she accidentally bumped her head. Sullivan was adamant that the bruise was accidental, that Bruno did not intentionally harm her, and that she initiated the scuffle. Bruno did not wish to prosecute. Sullivan was deemed the primary aggressor and was taken into custody for domestic assault.

Zaid Amro drunkenly tries fighting security at Whiskey Row on New Year’s Eve

30-year-old Zaid Hisham-Ata Amro had a scuffle with security at Whiskey Row late on December 31st. Whiskey Row security warned Amro to leave due to him being disorderly and intoxicated. Officers observed Amro resisting and fighting with security while being escorted out of the establishment. The security staff managed to detain Amro at the bar as officers arrived. Zaid Amro was taken into custody for disorderly conduct on January 1st.

Lyle Shipley Jr assaults wife of 16 years during argument

40-year-old Lyle Shipley Jr. had a domestic altercation with his wife of 16 years, Cassidy Shipley, early January 1st. Officers were dispatched to 1st Avenue North and Church Street regarding a call for service. Officers arrived, and spoke with Cassidy, who advised them that she and Lyle argued about her wanting to go home. Then, he took her phone and pushed her to the ground, causing a minor laceration on her right hand. He fled from the scene before the officers arrived. Lyle Shipley Jr. was taken into custody for domestic assault.

DUI: 19-year-old Alec Jacobs found unconscious in his vehicle after drinking 1 White Claw

19-year-old Alec Michael Jacobs blocked a lane of travel lane near Old Hickory Boulevard and Health Park Drive early January 1st. Jacobs drove off the right side of the roadway, over the curb. Officers observed this and noticed the keys in the ignition while the car was still in “drive.” Jacobs was unconscious, drooling in the driver’s seat, with an opened White Claw in his lap. They had to shake the car and yell at him to wake him up. Jacobs was visibly intoxicated as he admitted to consuming the White Claw in the vehicle. Jacobs was also unaware of when he had left Murfreesboro. He consented to sobriety tests, performed poorly, and provided a breath sample, resulting in 0.084% BAC. Jacobs was taken into custody and charged with driving under the influence, an open container violation, and underage alcohol consumption.
