Scott Sanders charged with disorderly conduct after interfering with police investigation

23-year-old Scott Sanders interrupted officers as they investigated a separate incident at 2nd Ave. S on October 29th. Officers were dispatched for a call of service when Sanders began arguing with them and refused as they asked him to move away. Officers placed Sanders in custody due to interfering in an investigation and he attempted to walk up to officers again. Officers observed Sanders to be visibly intoxicated as he was continuously resistive while in custody. Sanders was arrested for disorderly conduct.

Drunken Ireland tourist Niall Brennan punches bouncer in downtown Nashville

24-year-old Niall Brennan returned to Honkytonk Central after being kicked out this weekend. Brennan was seen falling on his back at the entrance of Honkytonk Central by officers as they were patrolling. The security at the bar stood Brennan up and detained him as officers arrived. Officers observed Brennan to be visibly intoxicated as they were advised by security that he was kicked out of the club before returning, and when they were trying to get him to leave a second time, he punched a security guard in the chest. The security guard did not wish to prosecute, and Brennan was taken into custody for disorderly conduct.

Aaron Torres says an “allergic reaction to marijuana” caused him to pass out behind the wheel

27-year-old Aaron Torres was passed out behind the wheel of a truck on Terminal Road in the early hours of Friday morning. Officers approached the truck, which was on and in gear, and noted Torres slumped over. After a few minutes, Torres regained consciousness and spoke with officers. Upon questioning, Torres stated he was having an allergic reaction to the marijuana he had just consumed. He also advised of a handgun in the center console.

Brandon Cruz jailed after fight with strip club manager in downtown Nashville 

23-year-old tourist Brandon Cruz got into a fight with Colby Daniel Lowry, a manager at the Deja Vu strip club in downtown Nashville in the early hours of Saturday morning. He had become aggressive with staff when the manager stepped in to attempt to de-escalate the situation. Cruz, however, balled his fists and punched the victim after the two were at the front of the building. Cruz was detained for police, who took him into custody and transported him to booking. Officers viewed security video of the incident, and the manager suffered a small cut to his face.

Coleman Rutherford jailed on DUI and handgun charges early Sunday morning

22-year-old Coleman Rutherford was jailed in the early hours of Sunday morning after nearly wrecking his black Mercedes SUV. Officer Meskers observed Rutherford driving erratically on I-440 at 3:33 a.m. at a high rate of speed. He continued speeding onto Woodmont Blvd, nearly striking a guardrail. A traffic stop was conducted, and a handgun was visible in the already-open glove box as the officer approached the passenger-side window. Rutherford stated he was coming from his brother’s house in the Nations, where he had consumed beers earlier in the night. Coleman Rutherford performed poorly on field sobriety tests and was taken into custody. He later blew a 0.91% BAC on a breathalyzer.

Nashville songwriter Matt McGinn threatens to kill girlfriend and slit her dog’s throat while kidnapping her

35-year-old Matthew McGinn reportedly lied to his girlfriend of two years, Carly Strickland, about staying in a hotel while she was out of town. She wanted to confront him and asked him to meet her at his multi-million dollar estate, where she was located. He arrived and blocked her car in the driveway. The couple discussed the matter, and Strickland decided to leave. She says McGinn refused to let her leave until she sat down and talked to him more. During the continued discussion, he became irate and called her derogatory names. She gathered her dog and attempted to flee the residence when McGinn reportedly pushed her to the ground and stood in the doorway to block her exit. She says he then grabbed the dog and threatened to strangle it, and told her she needed to “sit the fuck down,” and he wanted her and her dog to die. He is overheard on a recording telling her he would kill her and slit her dog’s throat if she attempted to leave.  A copy of the order of protection is included in the linked story.

McGinn then reportedly removed his shirt and began to wrap it around her shoulders in an apparent attempt to strangle her with the shirt. She was able to call 911, and when she screamed that he would not let her leave, he finally allowed her to exit the residence. He followed her outside, got in his own car to unblock the driveway, and reportedly drove aggressively as if he was going to hit her vehicle with his own. Warrants, including felony aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and kidnapping, were issued, and McGinn was taken into custody.

Jonathan Coward flees from police over license plate light traffic stop

20-year-old Jonathan Coward was jailed on Thursday after police observed him driving a black Chevy Impala with no license plate light. When they initiated their emergency equipment to pull him over near White Bridge Pike and Bugress, he sped off. Air One was above the vehicle, giving the ground unites his active location as he fled. Officers threw out spikes to disable the vehicle, but he continued to flee until he was apprehended on Cowan Street. He was taken to the police station and questioned. He stated that he fled the traffic stop but eventually gave up.

Union City Pastor Ezra Johnson charged with animal cruelty after leaving dog in car while shopping

48-year-old Ezra Johnson, pastor of the Greater Bethel Church of God in Christ in Union City, TN, left his dog inside his car as he went shopping inside the Opry Mills Mall in late September. Officers responded to a call for service regarding a dog locked inside a vehicle. Mall security opened the vehicle, and officers estimated the inside temperature to be over 100 degrees. The dog did not have water, had a muzzle on, and had been inside the car for over 20 minutes. Johnson told officers that he was in the mall shopping. Johnson was cited for animal cruelty and was booked on the citation this week.

Taxi driver Samsor Hajizada refuses traffic ticket, speeds away nearly hitting officer

31-year-old Samsor Hajizada was jailed on Thursday after police pulled him over for a traffic violation on Broadway. He refused to provide a license and registration at the officer’s request, stating that he would not take another ticket. Officers requested once again that he provide information, to which he said, “No, I will not,” and drove off. The officer was in fear he was going to be trucked by the vehicle, but he moved out of the way just before Hajizada sped off.
