Jonathan Coward flees from police over license plate light traffic stop

20-year-old Jonathan Coward was jailed on Thursday after police observed him driving a black Chevy Impala with no license plate light. When they initiated their emergency equipment to pull him over near White Bridge Pike and Bugress, he sped off. Air One was above the vehicle, giving the ground unites his active location as he fled. Officers threw out spikes to disable the vehicle, but he continued to flee until he was apprehended on Cowan Street. He was taken to the police station and questioned. He stated that he fled the traffic stop but eventually gave up.

Union City Pastor Ezra Johnson charged with animal cruelty after leaving dog in car while shopping

48-year-old Ezra Johnson, pastor of the Greater Bethel Church of God in Christ in Union City, TN, left his dog inside his car as he went shopping inside the Opry Mills Mall in late September. Officers responded to a call for service regarding a dog locked inside a vehicle. Mall security opened the vehicle, and officers estimated the inside temperature to be over 100 degrees. The dog did not have water, had a muzzle on, and had been inside the car for over 20 minutes. Johnson told officers that he was in the mall shopping. Johnson was cited for animal cruelty and was booked on the citation this week.

Taxi driver Samsor Hajizada refuses traffic ticket, speeds away nearly hitting officer

31-year-old Samsor Hajizada was jailed on Thursday after police pulled him over for a traffic violation on Broadway. He refused to provide a license and registration at the officer’s request, stating that he would not take another ticket. Officers requested once again that he provide information, to which he said, “No, I will not,” and drove off. The officer was in fear he was going to be trucked by the vehicle, but he moved out of the way just before Hajizada sped off.

Joie Sharpe high on cocaine in downtown Nashville, per police

31-year-old Joie Sharpe was yelling and cursing at security in Wannabe’s Bar on October 28th. Officers responded to a call from security at Wannabe’s Bar regarding a verbal altercation but were dismissed as Sharpe left the area. Sharpe returned to the bar, and officers were called again as she began to yell and curse at security while filming them. Officers observed Sharpe visibly intoxicated and found a cut-clear straw with a bag containing 0.4 grams of cocaine after searching her. Sharpe was arrested for simple possession, unlawful drug paraphernalia, and public intoxication.

DUI: Steven Strickland jailed after passing out behind the wheel of a vehicle

42-year-old Steven Strickland was passed out in his running vehicle on October 26th. When police arrived, the vehicle was off as Strickland spoke with medics. The medics advised officers that Strickland was having difficulty answering questions but was coherent. He was visibly intoxicated and admitted to medics that he had been drinking earlier. He then admitted to officers that he had “three beers a couple of hours ago.” He was hesitant to perform sobriety tests but eventually agreed, performed poorly, and was taken into custody.

Cheyenne Cole jailed after allowing somone to drive her vehicle under the influence of drugs

24-year-old Cheyenne Cole was jailed on Thursday night after police rolled up on a white truck on Dickerson Pike and found the driver passed out, snoring, and unresponsive with his eyes rolled to the back of his head. Cheyenne was the passenger and began to dig in Nathaniel’s pocket, pulling out a small bag of a white powdery substance and attempting to hide it inside of her prison purse. Police grabbed Cheyenne to place her into cuffs as she pulled away and tried to stomp out the small bag that had fallen. Nashville Fire Department transported Nathaniel to the hospital, where he told them that the bag in question contained fentanyl and could be found in Cheyenne’s wallet. Police found a straw that had white powder residue on the inside. It was also discovered that the vehicle was registered to Cheyenne’s father and that she was solely responsible for it, resulting in her being charged with a DUI per se.

Deontae Alexander fires handgun toward MDHA housing complex

19-year-old Deontae Alexander was booked on outstanding warrants from June, which allege that on May 18, he recklessly fired a semi-automatic pistol in the densely populated MDHA housing area near 14th Avenue South & Edgehill Ave. Several citizens were in the courtyard area as he fired toward another building that was occupied at the time. Deontae is under 21 and prohibited from possessing a firearm.

Brittaney Abrons jailed after throwing objects at ex-boyfriend during argument

35-year-old Brittaney Abrons was jailed on Thursday after an argument with her ex-boyfriend turned violent at their home on Double Tree Lane. Joshua Pittman told police that an argument started when she demanded he move out. She began throwing household items at him when he told her he needed more time. Joshua was able to block most of the items thrown, but one hit him on the hand, resulting in a cut to his finger.

India Dismukes: 105 mph in 70 mph zone… “I was late for work”

19-year-old India Dismukes was booked Thursday afternoon on a citation from April 8th when police pulled her over in her black 2012 Chrysler 300 on I-40 after they observed her speeding. Dismukes was going 105 mph in the rain in a 70 mph zone. Her excuse was that she was late for work. She failed to appear on her initial court date to self-book, causing a warrant to be issued for her arrest.

Daekwon Cunningham flees on foot from $2,600 hotel bill in downtown Nashville

26-year-old Daekwon Cunningham ran out of the JW Marriott after being unable to pay his room bill on October 26th. Hotel security advised officers that a male using a fake North Carolina ID charged $2600 for his stay, including $1,400 in charges from food & beverage, and refused to pay after his card on file declined and fled the scene. Cunningham was observed sprinting down the road on 8th Ave. S by officers as they were alerted to the incident by Hotel Security. Cunningham was positively identified and taken into custody for theft.
