EL Mojito Mexican restaurant fails health inspection with dead mouse in kitchen

A state health inspector visited El Mojito Mexican Restaurant on Donelson Pike Wednesday and found a restaurant without any managerial control with multiple priority violations, putting the public at risk. The inspector’s final report, which gave the restaurant a score of 65, notes there is no hand sink in the bar area, milk in the prep cooler was days expired and smells spoiled, and the floor under the drink stand was “extremely dirty,” according to the inspector. Additionally, the restaurant was noted to have a dead mouse found under a shelf near their fryer and mouse droppings on the counter next to the prep cooler.

Flavio Arandi grabs wife by hair, throws her on ground during dispute over phone

46-year-old Flavio Arandi was involved in a domestic altercation with his soon-to-be ex-wife, Kimberly Arandi, at Rolling Mill Road on the night of December 7th. The conflict started with an argument between the couple that became physical. Flavio got into Kimberly’s face and pushed her. Kimberly walked away to grab her phone and belongings to leave, but Flavio grabbed her phone before she could. Kimberly attempted to grab the phone, so they began to wrestle on the floor for the phone. After another attempt to get her phone, Kimberly walked outside, which led to Flavio coming from behind her, grabbing her by the hair, and throwing her to the ground. Flavio was taken into custody and charged with domestic assault on December 19th.

Janique Simpson throws water bottle at brother during altercation

19-year-old Janique Alicia Simpson and her boyfriend, 20-year-old Richard Pearson, had a domestic altercation with her brother, Jaheim Simpson, at Bell Road on December 18th. They advised officers that Jaheim and Janique always bicker, and today, she threw a key at him and missed, prompting him to throw a water bottle at her. She then called for Pearson, and he ran into the kitchen. Jaheim ran behind him while holding a knife in his left hand, causing Pearson to grab him to prevent himself from being stabbed. Jaheim then grabbed a glass cup that ended up shattering, creating shards that he ended up grabbing to try to stab Richard with. Janique and Richard tried to grab the shard away from Jaheim and cut their hands.

Officers spoke with Jaheim, who stated he was cooking when his sister began bickering with him. She opened the refrigerator, hitting him, causing him to bump the door back at her. She left the kitchen, returned with a water bottle, and threw it at him, so he grabbed it and threw it back. She then charged at him to attack, so he grabbed ahold of her in self-defense. Then, her boyfriend, Pearson, ran into the kitchen and grabbed him from behind, pinning him against the counter and ripping two of his dreads out. Then, Richard grabbed a glass cup and tried to hit him in the face with it, and it ended up shattering, turning into shards that Richard tried to stab him with. Jaheim attempted to hold the shard to prevent it from stabbing him, but it cut his hand. He stated Richard threw him to the floor and ended up cutting his left ankle and chin. Officers observed the lacerations Jaheim sustained, lining up with his statements, and deemed Richard and Janique as the primary aggressors. They were taken into custody for aggravated assault.

Jarvale Chesser steals ex-girlfriend’s Mercedes-Benz C300, attempts to break-into her Honda Accord

38-year-old Jarvale Javawn Chesser was driving his at-the-time girlfriend’s, Alexis Hick’s, Mercedes-Benz C300 with expired tags on Lafayette Street in the early hours of May 29th. Officers observed this, conducted a traffic stop, and found Chesser’s license was suspended, so he was cited. On November 16th, Hicks advised officers that they had broken up, but he gained access to her Mercedes-Benz without consent and refused to comply with her demands to return it. Then, on December 17th, officers were dispatched to a domestic disturbance outside of Hick’s residence. She advised them that Chesser attempted to break into her Honda Accord and began to punch the front passenger window repeatedly, causing scratches, and he kicked the front left fender, denting it, and fled the scene. A few hours later, officers located Hick’s Benz and called a towing company. Chesser walked toward the vehicle but ran away after seeing police as they told him to stop. Officers tackled him to the ground, but he was actively restive. Chesser was taken into custody for evading arrest, resisting arrest, vandalism, and theft of property.

Isis Sanchez leaves 8-year old home alone to slash ex-boyfriend’s tires

28-year-old Isis Sanchez was involved in a domestic altercation with her ex-boyfriend, Victor Cardenas, at Andrew Jackson Way on December 18th. Officers arrived to see Sanchez walking away from Cardenas’s Whit Mercedes SUV. Her vehicle was parked in front of his, blocking Cardenas’s car from leaving. Officers observed his Mercedes to have all four of its tires slashed, leaving visible knife marks. Within a search of Sanchez’s car, in plain view, were two kitchen knives in the passenger seat. The estimated damages to the car’s tires would cost around $1000 or more. Upon being taken into custody, Sanchez told officers that she left her 8-year-old daughter at home unattended. Shortly after, officers arranged for the child’s father to pick them up. Sanchez was taken into custody and charged with vandalism.

Deonte Morris caught by Highway Patrol strangling ex-girlfriend

34-year-old Deonte Morris was involved in a domestic altercation with his ex-girlfriend, Renee Kertchaval, at Rep. John Lewis Way North on December 17th. Upon contact with Kertchaval, she stated that Morris strangled her while pushing her against the wall, leaving bruises on her neck. She also communicated that Morris grabbed her by the arm, which left bruises on her left bicep. The Tennessee Highway Patrol sergeant who was at the scene when officers arrived witnessed Morris strangling Kertchaval. The sergeant also provided body cam footage of Morris in the act. Morris was taken into custody and charged with aggravated assault.

Brittany Little sprays husband in face with disinfectant, bites his arm

37-year-old Brittany Little was involved in a domestic altercation with her husband, John Little, at Westchester Drive on December 17th. John had his family members over for the evening. Brittany had a problem with their loudness, so she texted John and told him they needed to leave. This led to John becoming upset and deciding to sleep on the couch. After John went to sleep, she went downstairs to disinfect the house due to his sick family members. She began spraying near him while he was trying to sleep, which upset him, so he approached her. When John approached her, Brittany sprayed him into his face, so he pushed her into the door. While he was holding her at the door, he held one of her arms up so she bit his bicep to get him off of her. When officers questioned John, he said that he slept on the couch due to marital issues, and that was when Brittany started to spray him, which was when he got upset. He then stated that Brittany continued to spray him, and that was when he put out his arms and approached her to get her to stop using the spray. While John was attempting to get the spray from her, she bit his arm, leaving visible abrasions to his arm. Brittany Little was taken into custody and charged with domestic assault.

Tamya Hill refuses to be removed from patrol car, spits in police officer’s face

25-year-old Tamya Hill was involved in an altercation with the first responding officers at West Hamilton Avenue on December 16th. Officers received a call that a woman was waving around a knife inside of a halfway house. Upon arriving, officers spoke with the residents of the halfway house, and they said that Hill had failed a drug test, so they told her that she had to leave. That infuriated Hill, so she grabbed a knife and began waving it around like she was going to use it. The residents of the halfway house produced a video of Hill yelling and waving the knife around. The officers made contact with Hill and detained her. They began to pat her down for any weapon, but she started kicking and screaming. Suddenly, Hill sat down and refused to stand up when instructed to. Officers attempted to lift her off the ground, but she began to pull away from them and resist with force. While placing Hill into the patrol car, she continued to resist and intentionally kicked Officer Nicholas Sloan in the leg. Hill later spit in the back of the patrol car, vandalizing it. In the secure garage at booking, Hill refused to leave the patrol car and violently resisted officers’ attempts to remove her from the vehicle. Hill grabbed onto a seatbelt and trapped her feet underneath the seat to prevent officers from removing her from the car. Hill then spit in the face of Officer Timothy Mclaughlin when he was trying to pull her feet from the seat.
