34-year-old Deonte Morris was involved in a domestic altercation with his ex-girlfriend, Renee Kertchaval, at Rep. John Lewis Way North on December 17th. Upon contact with Kertchaval, she stated that Morris strangled her while pushing her against the wall, leaving bruises on her neck. She also communicated that Morris grabbed her by the arm, which left bruises on her left bicep. The Tennessee Highway Patrol sergeant who was at the scene when officers arrived witnessed Morris strangling Kertchaval. The sergeant also provided body cam footage of Morris in the act. Morris was taken into custody and charged with aggravated assault.
Deonte Montez Morris was booked into the Metro Nashville Jail on December 17th, charged with aggravated assault. A judicial commissioner set his bond at $10,000.
