William Jarrell threatens Kroger security guard with hunting knife during altercation

57-year-old William Jarrell had an altercation with Courtney Phillips, Kroger security, in Kroger on May 7th. When officers arrived, they observed Jarrell standing on a metal rack. He showed his hands, complying with their demands, and was detained for the incident. Phillips told officers that staff called him to remove Jarrell from the establishment, and when he walked up to him, he brandished a knife. Jarrell then threatened Phillips and “made a movement” that placed him in fear of bodily injury. Multiple witnesses said Jarrell was standing on the rack, but they did not see him with a knife. Under Miranda, Jarrell told officers he did have the hunting knife in his hand when Phillips approached him, but he did not threaten him. Jarrell was taken into custody for aggravated assault.

Deontaye Hamer jailed after raping 13-year-old step-sister

18-year-old Deontaye Hamer was taken into custody for rape on May 7th. Officers responded to a North 7th Street residence regarding a sexual assault. They spoke with the 13-year-old victim, who, during their interview, stated her stepbrother, Hamer, entered her room. She stated he started rubbing her back and eventually tried to put his hands down her pants. Then, she said he turned off the lights, bent her over the bed, and pulled down her shorts, during which he licked her vagina and started to penetrate her with his fingers. She said she told him to stop, but he held her down and then forcibly penetrated her with his penis. She said she did not think his penis was entirely in but reiterated that he did insert it in her vagina. Then, she said he rubbed it on her back before receiving a call and leaving the room. Officers interviewed Hamer, and under Miranda, he admitted to having sexual contact with her, adding that it was mutual and that he only penetrated her with his fingers, not with his penis. Hamer was then detained for the occurrence.

Reyn Haun threatens to shoot ex-girlfriend’s current roommate

29-year-old Reyn Tucker Haun had an altercation with Christopher McCall in the parking lot of Fatherland Flats on the night of May 8th. Upon arrival, officers spoke with McCall, who stated that Haun had initially entered the apartment to see his ex-girlfriend, who was McCall’s current roommate, adding that he knew who he was because she told him they had broken up due to domestic violence history. McCall said that Haun then left, went home, grabbed his shotgun, and texted the female that he was coming back to her apartment to confront and shoot McCall.

Haun advised officers he waited in the parking lot, contemplating if he would do it. McCall said he saw Haun outside and approached to speak with him, during which Haun told him to get away from him, and when McCall continued to advance toward him, he retrieved his shotgun from the passenger seat and racked it while demanding he backed away again. Officers could not speak with the female to confirm if either should have been at her residence. Haun was then taken into custody for aggravated assault.

Ashley Rincon kicked out of The Omni Hotel for being too drunk after “3 shots of Casamigos”

35-year-old Ashley Mercedes Rincon caused a disturbance at The Omni Hotel on Representative John Lewis Way South in the early hours of May 8th. When officers arrived, they spoke with the hotel staff, who stated that Rincon was yelling at them and other guests, appearing highly intoxicated. Staff requested Rincon to be removed from the premises, advising that she was a guest and had caused too many issues. Officers located Rincon in the lobby, sitting on a couch, where she told them she had lost her phone. She reeked of alcohol and showed numerous signs of impairment before admitting to having “3 shots of Casamigos” earlier in the night. She did not have an alternate place to stay and was deemed unable to care for herself. Rincon was then taken into custody for public intoxication.

Dequanya McCord indicted after stealing $250,000 from Family Leisure

A Davidson County Grand Jury indicted 25-year-old Dequanya Sade McCord for theft, forgery, and forfeiture on December 7th. The indictment alleges that McCord, from the 6th day of July 2021 through the 4th day of October 2021, in Davidson County, Tennessee, and before finding this indictment, knowingly did obtain or exercise control over certain property, and falsified invoices to wit: $250,000, or more, the property of Family Leisure, without the effective consent of Family Leisure, with intent to deprive Family Leisure of the property. McCord did acquire an interest in, or receive, certain personal property, to wit: $260,050.44. McCord was taken into custody on May 5th, 2024.

William Ratcliffe assaults roommate & her daughter with cane during heated argument

75-year-old William Ratcliffe had a domestic incident with his roommate, Cynthia Newsom, and her daughter, Gloria Drake, at their shared South 5th Street residence around 4:40 a.m. on May 6th. When officers arrived, they spoke with Newsom, who stated that Ratcliffe had become agitated during an argument, during which he swung his cane and hit her left ring finger. Then, Ratcliffe raised his cane and threatened Drake, telling her he would smack her in the head, which placed her in fear of bodily harm. Ratcliffe was then taken into custody for two counts of domestic assault on May 6th.

James Jones inappropriately touches ex-wife, breaks her phone while she calls police

41-year-old James Anthony Jones had a domestic incident with his ex-wife, Jasmine Shadelle McClure, at their Hamlet Hill Drive residence late May 6th. Upon arrival, officers spoke with McClure, who stated she had been living with Jones for a month. Then, McClure said, while she was in the kitchen, Jones came up behind her, trying to make sexual contact with her. In response, McClure told him she did not want to do that, which sparked an argument. McClure said she went upstairs to grab her son’s phone, returned downstairs, and called 911. After she told Jones she was on the phone with the authorities, he took the phone out of her hand and threw it on the ground, causing it to shatter. McClure went back upstairs, called the police on another phone, and then told them she did not wish to prosecute him for the incident. When officers spoke with Jones, he stated there was no attempt at any sexual contact. Then, Jones admitted to getting angry after finding out she was talking to the police. James said he grabbed her phone and threw it on the floor because of this. Jones was taken into custody for interference with a 911 call on May 6th.

Richard Douglas violates conditions of release after refusing to leave his mother’s house

50-year-old Richard Douglas was seen violating his conditions of release on May 6th near Packard Drive. When officers arrived on the scene, they spoke with Peggy Jackson, his mother, who stated that he was not supposed to be there and that she had an order of protection against Douglas. Jackson also claimed that he would not leave and that Douglass had already been served. Officers took Douglas into custody, and he was charged with a restraining order violation.

Korey Hutson speeds down I-40 East at 120 mph in Jaguar F-Pace

31-year-old Korey David Hutson was speeding on I-40 East late April 6th in his Jaguar F-Pace. Officers observed this and initiated a traffic stop, during which he was going 120 mph until they caught up to him near Stewarts Ferry Pike. Officers asked Hutson why he was going so fast, and he replied, “I do not know.” Hutson was then cited for the incident that day. Huston was later booked on the citation of reckless driving on May 3rd.

DUI: Mario Haynes crashes on Briley Parkway while high on Oxycodone

59-year-old Mario Haynes had a single-vehicle accident on Briley Parkway West near Mile Marker 22 in the afternoon hours of April 13th. When officers arrived, medics advised them that Haynes was in and out of consciousness, possibly having a “medical episode,” and needed to be transported to Skyline Medical. Witnesses told officers that he was behind Haynes for about a mile and a half, during which his left signal blinker changed numerous times as he swerved toward the shoulder and back to the middle lane until he hit the guardrail. He added that Haynes was driving as if he was falling asleep.

Officers searched his vehicle before it was towed and discovered a plastic sandwich bag containing a pill bottle with a blue pill, later identified as Oxycodone, three straws with a powdery substance, a pill cutter, and a plastic storage bottle with a single razor blade wrapped in toilet paper and an empty manilla envelope. When they arrived at Skyline Medical, Haynes was being assessed by the staff, and after he returned from getting scans, he admitted to having an Oxycodone pill and being impaired while driving. He was informed about implied consent and agreed to provide a blood sample. Haynes was cited for the occurrence and booked on the citation of driving under the influence, legend drug possession, and unlawful use of drug paraphernalia on May 3rd.
