DUI: David Alex — “my only mistake was drinking”

28-year-old David Alex was charged with drunk driving without a license after police responded to a rollover crash Friday night on Moncrief Ave. Police observed a black Toyota upside down lying in the front yard. While speaking with Alex, it was discovered that he had no driver’s license. He was unsteady on his feet, had bloodshot eyes, and smelled strongly of alcohol. Alex told officers that he had been drinking, and officers found several empty bottles of Corona lying inside the vehicle. Due to a language barrier and injuries from the crash, police did not ask him to perform sobriety tests. However, Alex did agree to a blood sample and was transported to the hospital. While waiting for his blood to be drawn, he stated, “my only mistake was consuming alcohol.”
