18-year-old Markese McCutcheon caught with stolen police equipment, tells police “That’s my brother’s firearm”

18-year-old Markese Andrew McCutcheon had a white Altima parked next to Building D near a dead end at Sterling Nashville West Apartments in the early hours of March 20th. Officers patrolled the apartment complex, an active crime area known for people breaking into and stealing vehicles, especially in the early morning. Officers noticed McCutcheon crouched by other parked cars. Officers noticed his Altima was parked to the left of the vehicles but not in a parking spot, and when he stood up, they turned around. When officers turned around, McCutcheon had driven away, so they got behind his Altima. Officers located him walking in front of building D and spoke with him, during which he told them he stayed in that complex. McCutcheon stated that the Altima was his and approached them with his hands in his hoodie pocket. Officers noticed a bulge in his pocket, so they searched and asked him what he had in his pocket, to which he replied, “That’s my brother’s firearm.” Further investigation revealed that the handgun was stolen. During a subsequent search of McCutcheon’s Altima, they found a Cheatham County Sherriff heavy vest and plates. Officers also found a handgun holster, three fully loaded handgun magazines, two knives, .40 caliber ammo, .223 caliber ammo, ear protection, and a seatbelt cutter. Officers were notified that the items were reported stolen by Deputy Salas on February 24th. Additionally, they located a bag of marijuana, scales, and burglary tools in his car. McCutcheon was taken into custody for theft of a firearm, possession of burglary tools, and simple possession.

18-year-old Jaymarion Brand jailed after sending police on high-speed chase

18-year-old Jaymarion Brand was jailed on January 4th after reports of individuals getting out of a silver car and pulling on car door handles in the area of Benay Road. Officers searched the area and observed an individual wearing all-black clothing, pulling on the handle of a parked car in a driveway on Riverbend Drive. The individual saw the marked police car and ran to a stationary silver Toyota in the center of Riverbend Drive, with the engine running and the lights cut off. Brand entered the passenger’s seat, and the vehicle turned its lights on and accelerated toward the police before turning away right before hitting them and getting off the road. A traffic stop was attempted, and the police decided not to pursue. Moments later, the vehicle was spotted speeding over 100mph on Briley Parkway before fleeing into an apartment complex on Elm Pike. The vehicle’s occupants ditched the car behind the complex and fled on foot. A citizen flagged down officers and pointed toward the building where Brand was located. He was detained, and a bag containing approximately 22 grams of marijuana was found on him. He admitted being in the vehicle but denied being the driver. Inside the vehicle, a well-used window punch was found along with a gun holster, distal scales, and an additional 6 grams of marijuana. Brand’s cell phone was also located inside the vehicle. He told police that two other people were in the car and repeated that he was not the driver. The vehicle owner was contacted, who advised that she did not know either of the defendants and never permitted them to drive her car. Jaymarion Brand was taken into custody and charged with reckless endangerment, possession of burglary tools, unauthorized use of vehicle, possession or casual exchange, drug paraphernalia, and three counts of evading arrest.

19-year-old Tristan Williams jailed on multiple charges including vehicle theft, domestic assault, and evading arrest

19-year-old Tristan Williams had a domestic altercation with Natasha Lynette Simmons-Crutcher and her juvenile daughter at Revels Drive on December 11th. Her daughter stated that Williams came to her house, trying to fight her brother in the front yard, regarding an earlier incident at Wal-Mart. She stepped outside, told him to leave, and had to get in between him and her mom, who told him that he was not going to fight her son and to leave. Williams was coming at them aggressively, putting them in fear.

Then, in an unrelated incident, on December 20th, Williams was driving a white Hyundai Elantra that was seen in multiple vehicle break-ins on Oakwell Farms Lane. Andrew Smith reported that the vehicle was stolen. Officers observed the Elantra-at-large traveling down Donelson Pike, initiated a traffic stop, and pursued it until it stopped at the MDHA housing between S. 7th Street and S. 6th Street. Willams and a co-defendant exited the vehicle and fled, causing officers to chase them. Officers ran in front of the building and saw Williams on the steps without the hoodie he originally had on. They later found the hoodie by Building 19 that he threw away as he walked toward South 7th Street. They reviewed MDHA camera footage, which confirmed that Willams was the driver and was running away from the vehicle. He was Mirandized and admitted to knowing the car was stolen. A subsequent search of the vehicle yielded a window-breaking device on the floorboard and a Taurus Handgun that was reported stolen by Jameson Calloway regarding a burglary on October 15th. Williams had three outstanding warrants in Davidson County and one in Rutherford County. He was taken into custody for evading arrest, theft of a firearm, vehicle theft, possession of burglary tools, assault, trespassing, and domestic assault.
