Jacob Young kills deer with arrow, booked for hunting deer with bait

33-year-old Jacob Ryan Young, an employee at Propel Insurance, was cited by the Tennessee Wildlife Resource Agency for hunting with the aid of bait at Eastland Avenue on November 13th. TWRA received a complaint from a resident on Eastland Avenue regarding a deer killed with an arrow in their front yard. An investigation revealed Young to be the one who harvested it, and a bait block with grain and whole kernels of corn was found near the 7-point white-tailed deer. Young was booked on the citation on December 4th.

Pennsylvania State Trooper Joseph Yingling starts a fight in Downtown Nashville

42-year-old Joseph Francis Yingling, a Pennsylvania State Trooper, was involved in a scuffle with Liam Leyden at Bakersfield restaurant on 3rd Avenue South in the late hours of November 11th. Leyden spoke with officers and advised them that he and Yingling were arguing when he attacked him, putting him in a chokehold and throwing him to the ground. They began to fight, but their friends broke it up. Officers reviewed security footage, and it shows Yingling getting up and walking to Leyden before putting his hands on his neck, lifting him out of his seat, and throwing him to the floor. Yingling was taken into custody for aggravated assault.

DUI: 18-year-old Jameson Hayes drinks “two bottles of fireball” before crashing into several vehicles

18-year-old Jameson Decker Hayes crashed into several parked vehicles on 16th Avenue South in the early hours of December 7th. Hayes was in the back of the ambulance, refusing medical treatment, when the officers arrived. Officers asked him what had happened, and he told them he had fallen asleep while driving. Hayes was visibly intoxicated but denied drinking any alcohol, stating the two empty fireball containers inside his truck were old. Hayes consented to sobriety tests, performed poorly, and was taken into custody for driving under the influence and implied consent.

Deven Buckner assaults officers in the midst of a mental breakdown

26-year-old Deven Buckner was harassing people at Mapco on Smith Springs Road on December 6th. Buckner was rambling and making nonsensical statements when officers arrived and could not answer basic questions. Officers attempted to take Buckner to his home on Waterford Way with the help of an individual who knows his family, but no one was present at the residence when they got there. They were able to contact Buckner’s mom via phone to inform her of what was going on, and she advised them that he appeared to be going through a mental health crisis. The crisis counselor evaluated him and determined that he needed to be “6404’d” and taken to the hospital. Buckner became irate when they told him he was going to the hospital, punching the window in the back of the patrol car twice. Officers stopped at Smith Springs to take the individual who knew Buckner’s family home and attempted to handcuff Buckner when they got to the parking lot, but he refused to cooperate. Buckner pulled his arms away from the officers and pushed his way through them to get out of the back seat, and then they grabbed him, guided him towards the grassy area, as he continued to resist, and eventually took him down to detain him. Officers had to force him back into the patrol car, and he was taken into custody for assaulting an officer and resisting arrest.

Brian Melvin strangles girlfriend during argument over separation

39-year-old Brian Melvin had a verbal altercation with his girlfriend, Lacey Keller, at InTown Suites on November 23rd. Keller stated the argument escalated when she started to gather her belongings and go through the laundry since she and Melvin planned on separating. Then, Melvin got in her face, pushed her, got on top of her, and placed his hands around her neck. Keller began kicking and fighting back before she was able to get out and call the police. When officers spoke with Melvin, he confirmed that he was on top of Keller but that she came at him first and hit him. Officers offered Keller counseling services, order of protection, prosecution, and shelter. Keller accepted counseling and shelter and refused all other services. Keller did not want to prosecute. However, officers observed the visible injuries she sustained and are prosecuting on her behalf. Officers placed Melvin into custody for aggravated assault.

Victoria Martin attempts to steal $65 Puma shoes from JCPenney

35-year-old Victoria Martin was at JCPenney when officers conducted a business check on the afternoon of November 28th. Kenneth Payne, the loss prevention manager of JCPenney, advised officers that he witnessed Martin put on one of their beanies, tear the tag off, and put it back. Then, she put on a pair of shoes, placed her shoes into the shoebox, took off those shoes, and put on a Pair of Puma shoes before trying to leave the store without paying. Martin claimed that she was going to get her stepdad, who was outside, to pay for the shoes. Payne wanted to prosecute for shoplifting and provided officers surveillance confirming his version of events. Officers discovered Martin was previously charged with shoplifting in Sumner County in December last year. She was taken into custody for shoplifting.

Joshua Spears bites his girlfriend’s foot during argument

31-year-old Joshua Spears had a domestic disagreement with his girlfriend, Allison Eidson-Breckey, at Aberdeen Road on November 26th. Eidson-Breckey stated that she was looking through Spears’s phone, found some things that upset her, and confronted him, which started an argument. Then, she said that Spears began to strike her in the head and mouth, leaving her with a swollen upper lip. She then complained about having knots on the top of her head. Eidson-Beckey advised them that after this, they began fighting on the floor, and she kicked him off herself in self-defense; spears then bit her on the foot. Officers observed the blood on her injured left foot and the blood on Spears’s face as they placed him in custody for domestic assault.

Emily Dueease pulled over, caught with over 50 grams of marijuana

24-year-old Emily Dueease was on I-40 East when she was pulled over for using her cell phone while driving on November 26th. Dueease had a strong odor of marijuana coming from inside her vehicle as officers approached and asked for her driver’s credentials. Officers asked her if there was any marijuana inside the car, and she reached for a light purple backpack sitting on the passenger’s side floorboard containing 59.8 grams of marijuana, a black scale, a container with pre-rolled papers, a couple of lighters, a grinder, and a manilla envelope with cash in it. Dueease was asked if she was selling the marijuana, and she responded yes. She was taken into custody for possession with the intent to distribute.

James McGee found drunk, unresponsive on State Property

45-year-old James McGee was found unresponsive in the Legislative Garage on State Property on the afternoon of May 12th. The building staff found McGee, called the ambulance and transported him to Centennial Hospital. McGee had a black bag that contained a loaded firearm and an alcoholic beverage. Pictures on the security camera show him drinking alcohol with the black bag on his cleaning machine. He was taken into custody for having a weapon at a posted meeting and being in possession of a firearm while under the influence.

John Beres jailed after collapsing on Commerce Street

57-year-old John Michael Beres was walking down the bike-travel lane on Commerce Street in the early hours of December 6th. Officers observed Beres move onto the sidewalk and collapse onto the ground, so they approached him for caretaking purposes. Beres was visibly intoxicated when he spoke with officers and was deemed unable to take care of himself, so he was taken into custody for public intoxication.
