39-year-old Brian Melvin had a verbal altercation with his girlfriend, Lacey Keller, at InTown Suites on November 23rd. Keller stated the argument escalated when she started to gather her belongings and go through the laundry since she and Melvin planned on separating. Then, Melvin got in her face, pushed her, got on top of her, and placed his hands around her neck. Keller began kicking and fighting back before she was able to get out and call the police. When officers spoke with Melvin, he confirmed that he was on top of Keller but that she came at him first and hit him. Officers offered Keller counseling services, order of protection, prosecution, and shelter. Keller accepted counseling and shelter and refused all other services. Keller did not want to prosecute. However, officers observed the visible injuries she sustained and are prosecuting on her behalf. Officers placed Melvin into custody for aggravated assault.
