DUI: James Mannix “I’m not getting caught in the driver’s seat of this car!”

36-year-old James Mannix Jr was found asleep in his SUV in AllSouth Appliance Group’s parking lot. He woke up, then showed signs of impairment, refused a sobriety test, demanded medical attention, and told medical staff that he was suffering withdrawals from alcohol and “benzos.” On July 26th, MNPD responded to AllSouth Appliance Group’s parking lot and spoke to a complainant who said that a gray Ford Escape almost struck a mailbox while entering the parking lot. Then, the complainant said, the vehicle stopped in the middle of the parking lot. Police approached the vehicle and found James Mannix asleep with the keys in the ignition and the engine still running but in park. The fire department arrived on the scene and woke James up; he slurred his words while saying, “I am not getting caught in the driver seat of this car.”

During the investigation, police described him to be uncooperative and unsteady on his feet when asked to exit the vehicle. James refused to do a sobriety test and asked for a lawyer, so he was placed into custody. A search of his vehicle yielded a half-empty bottle of Irish whiskey, an empty pint of vodka, other open containers, narcotics, and other prescription medication. While James was in the back of the police vehicle, an officer noted that it newly smelled of alcohol. James demanded medical attention after he was placed into custody; once they arrived at the hospital, James told the staff that he was suffering withdrawals from alcohol and “benzos” (which is a colloquialism for “Benzodiazepines.”)

Catalan Salvador pulls gun on DCSO Officer executing eviction orders

18-year-old Catalan Salvador was charged with aggravated assault and resisting with a deadly weapon when DCSO planned to evict him, and he pulled a pistol, then ran when MNPD attempted to place him into custody. On July 24th, MNPD arrived at Nolensville Pike to assist DCSO, who was at the residence to evict Catalan. DCSO Deputy Lugg said that he went to an upstairs room in the residence and found a doorway covered with a blanket. When Deputy Lugg pulled the cover back, he saw Catalan standing in the room brandishing a pistol at Deputy Lugg. He then instructed Catalan to drop the pistol and go outside; he obliged. MNPD Found Catalan outside when they arrived and told him that they were placing him into custody; he then ran on foot from them. With the help of DCSO, Catalan was brought to the ground and continued to resist the arrest by not putting his hands behind his back and refusing entry to the police vehicle. He was taken to the general hospital for the injuries he sustained during the resistance before being transported to jail.

Raisbel Gil charged with pushing roommate during argument

24-year-old Raisbel Gil pushed her roommate, Karin Martinez, during an argument about Karin talking behind her back, resulting in a domestic assault charge. On July, 24th MNPD came to an apartment on Edmondson Pike and spoke to Raisbel’s roommate, Karin, who said that she and Raisbel argued earlier. She said that the argument started due to Raisbel accusing Karin of talking badly behind her back. During the argument, Karin said that Raisbel grabbed her by the shirt and pushed her. Police spoke to Raisbel who said that they did argue and she did push her in the kitchen before leaving.

George McCutcheon jailed after violating an order of protection from girlfriend

63-year-old George McCutcheon knowingly violated an order of protection from his girlfriend, Carol Swimmer, by showing up at her house intoxicated and arguing with her. On July 21st, Carol Swimmer, George’s girlfriend, told police that he was intoxicated at her house when she had an order of protection against him. MNPD confirmed that there was a temporary order of protection at that time before they arrived and spoke with Carol. The two were separated and told police that they were arguing; police reported that George was unsteady on his feet and had slurred speech. They also noted that there was a cut on his eye which he told them while en route to the jail was a result of Carol assaulting him. He told police he knew of the order of protection and refused medical treatment. Carol was not placed into custody due to George’s level of intoxication and his changing his story to the assault, not allowing police to have probable cause.

Gabrielle Bailey assaults boyfriend who smacked a girl “on the booty”

36-year-old Gabrielle Bailey arrived at her boyfriend’s house drunk after being gone a couple of days, became mad at him for smacking another girl’s booty, and struck him in the face with an unknown object, resulting in a domestic assault charge. On June 26th, MNPD arrived at Nathaniel Reed’s residence and spoke to him. He said that Gabrielle had been in a relationship with him for three years, and she showed up at his house drunk after being gone for three days. He said, “I smacked another girl on the booty in front of her, attempting to make her mad,” which did, in fact, make her mad, per report. Gabrielle began arguing with the woman whose booty was smacked by Nathaniel and he told them to take it outside. Once they were outside, Nathaniel tripped in a large hole and while falling he said that Gabrielle struck him in the face with an unknown object. Police noted a laceration on Nathaniel’s lip.

Henry Frasier bruises fiancée’s buttocks during argument over him having a job

34-year-old Henry Frasier was charged with domestic assault when his fiancée, Sariah Alsobrook, showed cops her bruised buttocks from when he pushed her into a desk during an argument about him not having a job. On July 22nd, police arrived at British Woods Dr. and spoke to Henry’s fiancée, Sariah, who said that she and Henry had been arguing about him not having a job. She said that she was irritated with him due to him not paying any of the bills. While arguing, she told police Henry tried to take a pillow from her, which she did not allow, so he responded by pushing her into a desk. Police observed serious bruising on Sariahs left buttocks, and she said that she wanted to prosecute.

Jeanne Anderson blows 0.203% BAC after crash, claims she didn’t drink any alcohol

67-year-old Jeanne Anderson was placed into custody after MNPD found her at the scene of a single-car accident after she told police she had not consumed any alcohol, performed poorly on a sobriety test, then blew a 0.203 BAC. On July 23rd, MNPD responded to Edmondson Pike for a single-car accident and found Jeanne. They described her as smelling strongly of alcohol with glossy, bloodshot eyes. She told the police that she did not drink any alcohol that day, then performed poorly on the sobriety test administered. Again, she told police that she had not consumed any alcohol that day, then they transported her to perform a breathalyzer test. Her first test did not have a sufficient sample, but the second test showed that she had a 0.203 BAC.

Brian Dominguez charged with underage DWI after crash on Briley Parkway

18-year-old Brian Dominguez was found off the Briley Parkway exit onto I-24 next to his car on the shoulder of the road with alcohol on his breath, a gun, and an “electric rig to inhale live THC resin” in his vehicle. On July 23rd Nashville Fire Department requested MNPD to respond to a possible driver under the influence on Briley Parkway. When they responded, they found Brian next to his car that had a wheel missing and described him as smelling strongly of alcohol. Through slurred speech, he told them that he was heading home after three shots of alcohol and admitted to owning the THC electronic rig, Glock 19, and a jar of THC resin found inside his vehicle. After performing poorly on his sobriety tests, he was placed into custody and transported to booking.

Robert Stone charged with slamming girlfriend’s head into kitchen table

33-year-old Robert Stone woke his girlfriend, the victim, Ashley Smallman, up and slammed her head into a kitchen table, per a police report. On July 23rd, MNPD officers were dispatched to 3rd Ave. for a domestic disturbance when they spoke to the victim, Ashley. She told the police that Robert woke her in bed and slammed her head into a kitchen table. Police noted a cut on her ear as well as other visible injuries on Ashley. When police spoke to Robert, he said that Ashley woke up and began attacking him. Police observed bruises on Robert’s arm but deemed him the primary aggressor due to the severity of the injuries on Ashley.

Kevin Brown indicted on rape and harassment charges

29-year-old Kevin Brown of Mississippi, on July 21st, bonded out of jail on an $85,000 bond after being indicted for two counts of rape and one count of harassment. It is alleged that the two counts of rape were committed on June 29th of 2022, and the harassment was on the same day and October 11th of 2022. The indictment was filed with the Davidson County Criminal Court Clerk on May 31st, 2023, and he was booked on July 14th.
