Brandon Cruz jailed after fight with strip club manager in downtown Nashville 

23-year-old tourist Brandon Cruz got into a fight with Colby Daniel Lowry, a manager at the Deja Vu strip club in downtown Nashville in the early hours of Saturday morning. He had become aggressive with staff when the manager stepped in to attempt to de-escalate the situation. Cruz, however, balled his fists and punched the victim after the two were at the front of the building. Cruz was detained for police, who took him into custody and transported him to booking. Officers viewed security video of the incident, and the manager suffered a small cut to his face.

Jalana Gift serves fists to her family after serving food to the homeless

18-year-old Jalana Gift reportedly assaulted family members after serving meals at the Nashville Rescue Mission on October 21st. Officers were dispatched to a parking lot near 6th Ave. S regarding a domestic disturbance. Danielle Brown spoke with officers as they arrived and told them that her stepdaughter, Gift, punched her in the jaw, causing her glasses to fly off as they were leaving the Nashville Rescue Mission. After the blow, Julianna Hobbs, a friend of the family, attempted to restrain Gift and was struck in the neck during the struggle. Gift’s stepbrother, Jason Patterson, sustained a hit in the head before he was able to subdue Gift. Brown stated that Gift fled the scene after being told that the police were being called. Gift was taken into custody on October 24th for two counts of domestic assault and one count of assault.

Ni’Chee’La Johnson charged with assault at Minerva Avenue

25-year-old Ni’Chee’La Johnson was involved in a fight at Minerva Avenue on September 10th. Officers were flagged down by security for service regarding a physical altercation. Johnson punched Kanette Campbell on the left side of her face as officers attempted to break up the fight. Minerva Avenue had a camera outside of the establishment that recorded the incident. Johnson was taken into custody for assault on October 24th.

Cassandra Thomas slaps boyfriend in face as he deescalates an argument

32-year-old Cassandra Thomas slapped her boyfriend during an argument Friday morning. Jamaal Finkley stated that he and Cassandra had gotten into an argument at their home on 14th Avenue, and she had been aggressively following him from room to room and demanding that he didn’t leave. He then went outside and sat in his car to calm down, but Cassandra followed him out front and slapped him in the face. Jamaal provided police with video evidence of the assault, and Cassandra was taken into custody.

Cody Bearden assaults bouncers, uses racial slurs at Kid Rock’s bar in downtown Nashville

32-year-old Cody Bearden was with a friend at Kid Rock’s Bar in downtown Nashville late Friday night when his friend fell. Security advised Bearden to take his friend outside of the bar due to his level of intoxication. Bearden, who was visiting from Illinois, then assaulted two bouncers when they attempted to remove him from the bar, and was overheard calling them racial slurs. Bearden was taken into custody and charged with disorderly conduct. 

Conrad Cannon, 84, strikes grandson in forehead with metal broom handle

84-year-old Conrad Cannon was jailed Thursday afternoon after hitting his grandson with a broom. According to Matthew Walker, as he was getting ready for work, his grandfather told him to clean the house. He stated that he told his grandfather he was getting ready for work and didn’t have time to clean the house when Cannon became angry and hit him in the forehead with a metal broom handle. When Cannon was questioned, he told police that his grandson was threatening him and admitted that he hit him with a broom. He explained that the threats Matthew made were “hit me, hit me” and cussing at him. Matthew wished to press charges, and his grandfather was taken into custody.

Jayleen Franklin charged with assault of another student at Hillsboro High School

18-year-old Jayleen Franklin was booked and charged with assault on October 16th. Shonta Woods, the mother of Marcel Burnett Jr., is pressing charges on Franklin for a physical altercation that occurred at Hillsboro High School. Burnett Jr. stated that during class change, Franklin reportedly came from behind and hit him in the side and back of his head. Officers were told that the physical altercation ended after Burnett Jr. defended himself. Burnett Jr. had a bump on the back and side of his head because of the scuffle.

Elleisha Bryant charged in assault at Dunkin’ store

22-year-old Elleisha Bryant was booked this week on an outstanding warrant from July 6th when she failed to appear to be booked on a citation. Officers were initially dispatched to the Dunkin’ store on Briley Parkway regarding an assault on June 11th. When officers arrived, they were told that Bryant entered the restaurant with another party that went behind the counter to assault the victim after being told to leave multiple times. Bryant joined in with the other party and began to hit the victim as well. The victim sustained injuries from the assault.

Charlesheika McWilliams “I’m not afraid of police” as she assaults another woman

18-year-old Charlesheika McWilliams was issued a citation on September 3rd after a verbal dispute turned physical at the bus station downtown. The report states that she was “postured up” trying to fight another female in the lobby near Dunkin Donuts. McWilliams stated that she was going to fight Adriana Smith and wasn’t afraid of the police. Officers and MTA security were standing in between both parties to keep them separated but McWilliams lunged past them and struck Ms. Smith.
