Laniece Gethers charged after punching husband in face as kids overheard while playing video games

45-year-old Laniece Gethers was jailed on April 8th after beating up her husband at their home on Summercrest Court and spoke with Jeffrey Gethers, who said he and his wife got into an argument while he was heading upstairs to go to sleep. The argument escalated, and Laniece punched him in the face, just above his left eye, causing visible injury. Officers spoke with two juveniles who were present during the incident. Jeffrey’s son told police he was playing a video game and heard both parties fighting and his dad yelling, “STOP HITTING ME, GET OFF ME!” Jeffrey’s daughter told police that she heard her dad yell for her to come help, and she witnessed Laniece punching him.

Jake Stevens caught selling Fentanyl in Walmart parking lot

21-year-old Jake Stevens was driving a green Scion into the Walmart Neighborhood Market on Gallatin Pike on April 13 when he parked near a Toyota Sequoia, which was being surveilled by Metro Nashville Police. A person from the Toyota got into Stevens’ vehicle and conducted what detectives believed to be a hand-to-hand drug transaction. Detectives approached the vehicle and found Stevens to have a scale in his lap with white powder on it. Inside the vehicle, a bag of 2.4 grams of Fentanyl was located between his seat and the center console, and Stevens alerted officers he had a firearm in his waistband. Another bag of 1.6 grams of methamphetamine was also located. Stevens admitted to being a “drug dealer” and stated he was also addicted to drugs.

Farren Oliver kills boyfriend’s dog; attacks boyfriend with Swiffer Sweeper; destroys his car

32-year-old Farren Oliver is free on a $17,500 bond after admitting to killing her boyfriend’s dog, attacking him with a Swiffer sweeper, and taking a pry bar to his car. Police say she told Joseph Donald she was going to poison his dog, and later that evening texted him photos eating, stating she “gave him something.” He got home and took his dog to the emergency vet, where it died. He provided police with an audio recording of Oliver admitting to giving the dog Xylitol. When he was then gathering some of his things from the home to leave she hit him on the head with a Swiffer sweeper, leaving significant injury to his head, and she attacked him, leaving scratches on his body. She ran into the house and locked him out, so he then climbed through the window to continue retrieving his belongings. While he was doing that, Farren went outside with a flat pry bar and smashed his windshield, windows, and tail lights. A ring video doorbell captured the incident; however, Farren would not allow police to view it.

Kathleen Reishtein Cooper — too drunk to fly in Nashville; Xanax into the jail

70-year-old Kathleen Cooper was jailed on April 14th after being kicked off a Southwest Airlines flight. Police responded and saw Cooper walking unsteadily down the jet bridge to board the flight as well as dropping her bags onto her head while trying to put her luggage into the overhead bins. When police asked her to exit the plane, she refused, so they had all the passengers deboard the plane except for Cooper, who they had to escort off of the aircraft against her will. They could smell alcohol coming from her breath when asking her how much she had to drink. She claimed to have had one cocktail at the restaurant 400 Degrees inside the airport. It was later discovered that Cooper was in possession of 4 and 3 half pills of Xanax without a prescription that she took into booking.

Morghan Smith charged with DUI after rear-ending car at traffic light

27-year-old Morghan Smith was jailed on April 13th after rear-ending another vehicle at a yellow light while intoxicated. Police responded to Old Hickory Blvd and 24th Street and spoke with Smith, who explained that the car in Infront of her slammed on its brakes for a yellow light, and she didn’t have time to stop. While officers were speaking with her, they could smell alcohol coming from her breath and asked her if she had anything to drink; she said she had two beers at Hooters. Smith agreed to sobriety testing and performed poorly. She blew a .158% BAC on a breathalyzer and was transported to booking.

Carlos Romano Mejia charged with drag racing in Antioch

24-year-old Carlos Romano Mejia pulled up alongside another vehicle near Bell Road and Harris Lane on March 13 as they both stopped at a red light. As the light turned green, a Metro Nashville Police officer observed the two cars accelerate at high rates of speed in neighboring lanes as they raced along the roadway. An officer caught up to the 2015 Infiniti G37 driven by Romano Mejia and during the traffic stop he admitted to racing “a little.” He was issued a citation for drag racing and was booked on that citation this week.

DUI: Tourist Scott Nobles crashes scooter into cop car in downtown Nashville

41-year-old California tourist Scott Nobles was jailed on April 13th after crashing his scooter into the back of an unmarked Metro Police vehicle near 5th and Demonbreun in downtown Nashville. Officers saw Nobles unsteady on his feet and smelled alcohol on him. They asked him if he had anything to drink, and he admitted to drinking a couple of beers and refused to answer any more questions. Nobles refused all testing, and was transported to booking.

Tyshon Bailey screams “I’m not going!” before punching and kicking officers during skirmish

19-year-old Tyshon Bailey was jailed on April 14th for trying to fight officers when they responded to a call for service on Zermatt Avenue. They witnessed Bailey being irate and aggressive in the house. He repeated to the police, “I’m not going,” and tied a purple bandana around his fist. He then approached officers aggressively and got into a fighting stance. The officer used his arms to create distance, and Bailey lunged forward. Another officer tried to grab Bailey, but he resisted, and they tussled on the couch. Bailey was swinging his arms, hitting one officer in the head and kicking the other. Finally, the officers were able to gain control of Bailey and place him in cuffs; he continued to resist while the officers put him in the patrol car.

Traffic stop turns into a whole ordeal as Rick Stellick isn’t going to cooperate today

48-year-old Rick Stellick was jailed on April 10th after refusing to comply with police commands during a traffic stop on Northgate Drive. Police pulled over Stellick driving his Lexus for failing to stop for a red light. Once they were able to identify him, they asked him to pull into Cracker Barrel so that he would be off the roadway, but Stellick said that he would not move his vehicle. Police then instructed him and the passenger to step out of the car. The passenger complied, but Stellick said he would not leave his vehicle. The officer approached the driver’s side, and Stellick started driving forward. An officer finally got him to stop his vehicle and reached into the driver’s side window to open the door; he took hold of Stellick’s arm to remove him from the car. Stellick pulled away, but the officer was able to place him in handcuffs and transport him to booking.

Tourist David Call kicked out of Losers Bar in Nashville

42-year-old David Call was jailed on April 6th after squaring up to fight at Losers Bar. The security guard told police that he was in the process of asking Call to leave the bar when he got out of his seat and quickly got into a fighting stance. He cocked his right arm back to throw a punch but was quickly detained by other security personnel. The manager had video evidence of the incident.
