Eric Baczewski found passed out drunk in parking garage, tells officers “I’m not that drunk!”

41-year-old Eric Steven Baczewski was found sleeping in the corner of a parking garage on 11th Avenue North in the early hours of May 9th. Officers reported that he was “hard to wake up” and showed signs of impairment, appearing to be confused about what they were telling him. Baczewski had to brace himself against a wall to stand. Officers then spoke to Baczewski, during which officers noticed he had an empty Voodoo Ranger can in his pocket. Baczewski then told them, “I’m not that drunk!” Baczewski was deemed unable to care for himself and then was taken into custody for public intoxication.

Amy Coggins attempts to jump off bridge during argument with husband

29-year-old Amy Monts Coggins had a domestic altercation with her husband, Zackary Nix Coggins, near Church Street and the Railroad Overpass around 12:01 a.m. on May 4th. Officers were advised that they were walking back to their hotel room from the bar, where some gentleman looked at Amy. She did not like this, and the couple argued over the occurrence on the way back to their hotel. During the argument, Amy said Zackary started verbally degrading her and calling her profanities. This prompted her to slap him in the face, then run to the bridge to jump off it. She told officers that Zackary did not assault or threaten her before admitting to slapping him, which he corroborated. Amy was transported to the hospital and then was taken into custody for domestic assault.

Melvin Lang strangles wife during argument, threatens to kill her

52-year-old Melvin Lang was involved in a domestic altercation with his wife of 12 years, Julia Lang, at their residence on 1st Avenue North on April 5th. Julia stated that Melvin choked her before he left and informed officers that Melvin left her on Broadway the previous night, so they had an argument about it today. Julia advised that one second, she was standing up, and then another, she was on the ground, mounted by Melvin before he began strangling her. Julia stated that the strangulation lasted around one minute, so she thought that her husband was going to kill her. Melvin proceeded to tell Julia, “he didn’t care, and he would her.” Julia fought Melvin off by scratching and biting him while crying frantically. Melvin was then taken into custody and charged with aggravated assault.

Kyle Bassett charged with DUI when vehicle gets stuck on railroad tracks after drinking in downtown Nashville

25-year-old Kyle Bassett was found in the driver’s seat of a vehicle that was stuck on the railroad tracks on Church Street in downtown Nashville just after 3 a.m. Saturday. He admitted to drinking “some beers” at a bar in downtown Nashville, along with his female passenger, who was the registered owner of the car. Bassett was reportedly confused about where he was and how the vehicle became stuck on the tracks. He reportedly reeked of alcohol and performed poorly on field sobriety tests. He later claimed that the passenger drove the vehicle to the tracks and then swapped places, but she would not answer any questions and remained silent. Bassett and the passenger were taken into custody and charged with DUI-related charges.

Soldier Rico Brennan charged with DUI after leaving PLAY Dance Bar in Nashville

23-year-old soldier Rico Brennan reportedly drove through a flashing red light without stopping at 7th & Commerce in downtown Nashville on Saturday. Nearby officers observed and eventually caught up with the vehicle. During a traffic stop, officers noted visible signs of intoxication, and had to brace himself to stand once he exited the vehicle. He admitted to drinking “a couple of beers” at PLAY Dance Bar prior to driving. Once in custody, Brennan fell asleep multiple times and was transported to booking.

DUI: Cory Wood drinks 3 Michelob Ultras at Pantera concert before crashing car

30-year-old Cory Wood was reportedly in a car accident on Shelby Avenue and Interstate Drive in the early hours of February 10th. Officers noticed Wood attempting to change a flat tire on his vehicle with front-end damage consistent with a collision. Officers asked Wood if he was involved in an accident, and he replied that he didn’t think so. Wood was visibly intoxicated, bracing himself against his car to stand up before consenting to sobriety tests, which he performed poorly. Officers then asked him for his license, and Wood immediately forgot what officers asked him about. Then, Wood admitted to drinking three “big” glasses of Michelob Ultra at the Pantera concert and one more glass sometime after. Wood was transported to the hospital, where he fell asleep before being taken into custody for driving under the influence.  

Jacqueline Mccowan pushes security guard at Elizabeth Duff Transit Center

57-year-old Jacqueline Michelle Mccowan pushed a security guard, Jonathon Cortez Henderson, at the Elizabeth Duff Transit Center at WeGo Central on Martin Luther King Boulevard in the late hours of January 31st. When officers arrived, Mccowan was yelling at the transit center’s security officers and getting in their faces. Officers tried to get her to stop, but she continued as she walked to another location employee. Mccowan began interfering with officers attempting to detain another individual in an unrelated incident. She was visibly intoxicated and deemed a danger to herself, so they detained her. Officers were told that Henderson attempted to get her to leave repeatedly and stop interfering with the police. Then, she walked up and pushed him, causing him to stumble backward. The incident was caught on camera, so officers reviewed it and were told that Henderson wanted to prosecute. Mccowan was taken into custody for assault, disorderly conduct, and public intoxication.

Gitae Park attacks man in downtown Nashville while intoxicated

28-year-old Gitae Park was seen on video footage following and punching someone outside of a Hotel on 5th Ave in downtown Nashville. The footage and the victim’s, Zach Ragsdale’s, account showed Gitae pushing Zach first before Zach walked away. Gitae followed Zach, pushed him again, and punched his right shoulder. After Gitae missed a punch aimed at Zach’s face, he attempted to punch him again despite receiving help from hotel staff. Gitae told police with alcohol-smelling breath that he had been drinking that day. His pants were covered in urine, and he attempted to open random cars in the parking lot. He told police he thought they were his Uber, so police took him into custody for assault.

Daisy Galeno punches boyfriend who brought two women to their hotel room

26-year-old Daisy Galeno told police that she and her boyfriend had recently gotten back together after a brief breakup and were drinking downtown. While out drinking, she said she left the bar after seeing Jonny Serrano, her boyfriend, flirting with other women. When she was gone, Jonathan stated that he tried calling Daisy several times to ask if it was okay for him to bring two other females to their hotel room at Placemakr Premier SoBro on Demonbreun St. Daisy did not answer and arrived back at the hotel to find Jonathan with the other two females. The two females left, and Daisy began to argue with Jonathan about the situation. Daisy said that they only argued and nothing physical happened. Jonathan said that Daisy slapped him in the face close to his eye where he recently had LASIK surgery. He told police that he did not wish to prosecute Daisy. But police noticed redness around Jonathan’s eye consistent with his account of the incident.

Zachary Skelton pulls front door off hinges at Moxy Hotel in drunken rampage

23-year-old Zachary Skelton was drinking at the bar inside the Moxy Hotel in downtown Nashville late Monday night when he reportedly pushed a drink at the bartender and began to act aggressively. Hotel security advised he had to leave the property and walked him out the door. Once outside, Skelton began pulling on the door to get back inside and eventually pulled it off the hinges, causing the staff to set off the burglary alarm to alert the police. Offices arrived and spoke with Skelton, who initially said he had four shots of liquor, but later revised the amount to “six or seven.” Due to his level of intoxication, he was taken into custody and transported to booking.
