Andtrayvin Stewart caught with 92 grams of marijuana in his Camaro at TSU

20-year-old Andtrayvin Stewart and his passenger, Keivein Kelly, were sitting in his black Camaro, smoking marijuana in the Boyd Hall parking at Tennessee State University on the afternoon of February 13th. Officers observed this, initiated a traffic stop, and as they walked up to the car, which reeked of marijuana, they observed Kelly holding the blunt. Officers asked the men what they were doing, and they both stated they were smoking a blunt. Stewart consented to a search of his Camaro, where officers found 92 grams of marijuana, a half-burned blunt, a Glock holster, an open box of clear plastic baggies, and three black bookbags. Neither of the men claimed ownership of the items found in the search. Officers searched Stewart and found $2,860 in $20-dollar-bills in his pockets. Officers then asked Stewart if he had a gun, and he replied, “I have a Glock 9 under my bed,” which they could not locate. During the search, Stewart and Kelly seemed nervous, pacing back and forth until Kelly suddenly grabbed a black bookbag on top of the Camaro and ran off. While Kelly ran away, a large bag of marijuana and a pair of tennis shoes fell out of the backpack. Kelly refused to stop when officers ordered him to. Stewart was taken into custody for felony possession on March 13th.

19-year-old Makenzee Martinez punches cousin in face repeatedly during argument

19-year-old Makenzee Martinez had a domestic incident with her cousin and roommate, Mayah Delarose, on the night of March 13th. Delarose spoke with detectives when they arrived, advising them that she and Martinez had been arguing on and off for the past few days. Delarose explained that the argument turned physical when Martinez lunged at her and started punching her in the face repeatedly, leaving bruises on her upper lip and left cheek. Delarose responded by delivering several strikes in return in an attempt to defend herself. During the fight, Martinez and Delarose fell to the ground, where Martinez got on top of Delarose and began pulling her hair. Then, two other residents, including Martinez’s mother, intervened and separated them. Martinez spoke with officers, provided a similar statement to Delarose, and admitted to starting the scuffle when she lunged at her. Afterward, officers talked to Martinez’s mother, who confirmed that her daughter had started the fight. Officers then spoke to the other witness, who advised them that they did not know how it started but added that they had seen Martinez pulling her hair. Martinez was deemed as the primary aggressor and then was taken into custody for domestic assault.

Javon Smith attacks man in chapel at Nashville Rescue Mission

21-year-old Javon Smith and an unidentified individual attacked Robert Lee Russel Jr. in the chapel at the Nashville Rescue Mission on Lafayette Street around 8 p.m. on March 13th. Medical personnel advised officers as they arrived that Russel Jr. was knocked unconscious, his left eye was swollen shut, and he sustained a fractured orbital bone. Russel Jr. was transported to the hospital, and officers reviewed footage from the security cameras. The footage showed Smith initiating a fight with Russel Jr. by punching him and then being joined by the unknown attacker. The unknown attacker also punched Russel Jr., which knocked him down to the floor. While Russel Jr. was on the ground, both of the men struck him repeatedly until he lost consciousness. Then, Smith bent down to him and moved off-screen for about five seconds, during which the other assailant punched Russel Jr. multiple times. Detectives observed Smith at the scene, walking into the Mission. Smith was detained and taken into custody for aggravated assault.

Maria Rondon Valbuena caught driving stolen car, tells police she was renting it from “A guy on WhatsApp”

26-year-old Maria De Los Angeles Rondon Valbuena drove a stolen Mazda CX-9 down Terminal Drive on the afternoon of February 8th. Officers observed this and conducted a traffic stop. During the stop, Valbuena stated she was “renting the vehicle from a guy on WhatsApp for $150 a month.” She added that she only had the car for a month. Valbuena was cited for the incident. Valbuena was booked on the citation of theft on March 11th.

Jeffrey Musick crashes his car, walks home like nothing happened

29-year-old Jeffrey Tyler Musick had a single-vehicle accident in his Jeep Gladiator near Stewarts Ferry Pike and the I-40 West Entrance on the night of February 22nd. When officers arrived, they noticed the Jeep on the center median divider with damage to the front windshield and the driver’s side airbags deployed. Officers ran the registration and found that the owner, Musick, lived about five minutes from the scene on Boulder Park Drive, so they went to his residence. Officers met with Musick, who answered the door, officers immediately noticed Musick had visible injuries to his forehead consistent with him hitting it on the windshield in the Jeep. Musick also had chest injuries consistent with car airbags deploying. Musick told officers that he had gone to the bar earlier that evening, where he had a few beers, and then walked home after leaving the scene. However, Musick denied that he had driven from the establishment. Musick declined medical treatment, was detained, and then cited for leaving the scene of an accident and failure to report an accident. Musick failed to book himself on the citations, so a bench warrant was issued, which he was taken into custody for on March 14

William Bryant threatens to assault man, tells him “I will beat your ass”

40-year-old William Bryant threatened Kelly Palmer near Anthes Drive on February 14th. Palmer spoke with officers, advising them that Bryant told him, “I will beat your ass,” adding that he was placed in fear by this statement and wished to prosecute. Officers spoke with Bryant, who admitted to threatening Palmer. Bryant was cited for the incident. Bryant failed to book himself on the citation of assault and had a bench warrant issued for his arrest, which he was taken into custody for on March 11th.

Larry Banks Jr. attacks roommate in parking lot

43-year-old Larry Banks Jr. and Jessica Pickett had an altercation with their roommate, Steven Johnson, in a parking lot near Murfreesboro Pike on March 13th. Officers were called to their Cedarcreek Trail residence and spoke with Johnson and Daniel Evitts, a witness. Both advised that all four of them were in the car traveling on Murfreesboro Pike and that Johnson was driving. Johnson stated that he pulled over in a parking lot, and when he stopped the vehicle, Pickett and Banks Jr. started attacking him. Evitts further explained that Banks Jr. put Johnson in a headlock and punched him repeatedly. Evitt also stated that Pickett punched him in the face, which left visible injuries to his face. Banks Jr. was taken into custody for domestic assault.

DUI: Johnnetta Penrose caught with marijuana in car, congratulates officers for finding her “$20 bag of weed”

46-year-old Johnnetta Penrose sped in her white Buick SUV and ran through the red light, nearly colliding with a U-Haul truck on Fesslers Lane in the early hours of March 13th. Officers observed this and conducted a traffic stop. As Officers approached the driver’s side, they noticed a small bag of marijuana on top of an ashtray in the center cupholder near a Patron Bottle, which was almost empty. Officers questioned Penrose, and she admitted to drinking, adding that she had just left a friend’s house, where they celebrated and consumed the Patron. Detectives asked if Penrose would be willing to take sobriety tests, which she consented to and performed poorly on. Before Penrose took the field tests, she tried to hide the bag of marijuana while getting out of her SUV. Penrose was detained, and officers tried to explain implied consent to her, but she was unwilling to listen, interrupting them repeatedly. Officers located an open bottle of Pinot wine behind the driver’s seat during a subsequent search of her Buick. On the way to booking, she continuously congratulated officers on finding her “$20 bag of weed.” Penrose was taken into custody for driving under the influence, implied consent, an open container violation, and simple possession.

Steve Midgett Jr. and brother threaten neighbors with AR Rifles during argument

23-year-old Steve Midgett Jr. and his brother, Stevarius Midgett, had an altercation with their neighbors, Aiyana Barnes and her mother, Brittany Martin, at the Charter Village Apartments on Rio Vista Drive on February 26th. Barnes argued with Midgett Jr., during which he came out of his apartment unit into the breezeway with an AR-style rifle wrapped in black/white camouflage. Midgett Jr. pointed the gun at her abdomen and threatened to kill her. Martin added that Stevarius Midgett also came out with a black AR-style rifle and pointed it at Barnes. Detectives spoke with witnesses, who corroborated Barnes’s and Martin’s statements. This altercation occurred the same day Midgett Jr. was taken into custody on an outstanding warrant regarding a prior May 2020 incident where Midgett Jr. started a fight at a funeral inside Mt. Ararat Baptist Church. Midgett Jr. was taken into custody for aggravated assault on March 12th.

Milton Morocho-Zhunio drunkenly wanders onto Nashville International Airport airfield

32-year-old Milton Morocho-Zhunio was stopped by TSA in front of Gate D3 at Nashville International Airport on March 12th. When officers arrived, they located and noticed him showing numerous signs of impairment. Morocho-Zhunio admitted to drinking, and when officers asked him how he was able to access the secured movement area of the airfield, he replied, “Uber” and “The bus.” Officers then reviewed footage of Morocho-Zhunio taking the elevator to the ramp level and wandering through the secured area until TSA stopped him. Morocho-Zhunio was taken into custody for public intoxication and an air security violation.
