24-year-old John Imaniriho was seen swerving in his white Nissan Sentra and nearly collided with multiple vehicles on Lafayette Road near Lewis Street on the afternoon of February 15th. Officers observed this, initiated a traffic stop, and noticed a half-empty, open bottle of Stella Artois in the center cup holder as they approached the driver’s side. Imaniriho was asked to step out of his car and showed numerous signs of impairment, stumbling as he exited and reeking of alcohol. Imaniriho admitted to drinking “one bottle” before consenting to sobriety tests, where he performed poorly. Officers ran his information through NCIC and were notified that he had no valid driver’s license. Then, Imaniriho failed to provide insurance for his Sentra. Imaniriho was taken into custody for driving under the influence, failing to comply with financial responsibility, an open container violation, and not having a driver’s license.

Aura Ambrocio Garcia assaults husband after confrontation over text message
33-year-old Aura Ambrocio Garcia was booked on February 15th for assaulting her partner on McMurray Drive. Aura told officers that she and her boyfriend, Jonatan Gomez, had gotten into an argument because he was drunk and wouldn’t leave her alone. Garcia admitted to becoming frustrated and slapping Gomez in the face. Garcia stated that Gomez retaliated by pinning her to the bed by her arms, slapping her, and strangling her.
Officers then spoke with Gomez, who advised that he saw a text message on Garcia’s phone that bothered him. When Gomez brought it up to Garcia, she became frustrated and slapped him in the face. Gomez said he reacted by slapping her back in self-defense. Due to Garcia assaulting Gomez first, officers determined Garcia to be the primary aggressor and taken into custody.
Nygia Noble assaults boyfriend, causes $2,400 in damage to his property during argument
19-year-old Nygia Noble was booked on February 15th for assaulting her boyfriend on Sonya Drive. Noble told the police that she and her boyfriend, Devonte Harris, were supposed to go on a date for Valentine’s Day, but he never answered his phone. So, Noble went to his apartment and knocked on the door. While at his apartment, Noble checked his phone and noticed another woman messaging him, which upset her. Noble admitted to knocking items over in the kitchen in anger. Noble told police that when she walked into the parking lot, Devonte grabbed her by the collar of her shirt and pushed her to the ground. Officers noted that Noble had no visible injuries.
Officers then spoke to Devonte, who stated when Noble got to his apartment, she began pounding on his apartment door, causing $200 in damage. Devonte opened the door, and Noble entered his apartment as they began to argue. Noble then threw a glass bottle at Devonte, which grazed him before falling to the ground and causing a two-inch dent in the wood floors. The estimated cost of the damages to the floor was $200. Noble then left his apartment and keyed the driver’s door of his Lexus. The estimated cost of damages to the vehicle was $2,000. Devonte admitted that to stop Noble from keying his car, he grabbed her by her shirt and pushed her to the ground. Noble was taken into custody for domestic assault and vandalism on February 15th.
DUI: Shawnna Haymon drinks two mixed drinks before crashing into pole, tells police “You tell me what happened.”
25-year-old Shawnna Haymon had a single-vehicle accident where she collided with a utility pole near the Harding Pike and Vossland Drive intersection in the early hours of February 16th. Officers arrived, noticed the extensive front-end damage to her car, and asked if she was injured. Haymon responded by telling officers that she had to talk to her mother and would not answer any questions due to legal reasons. Haymon refused medical services after NFD medics evaluated her, and when officers asked what had happened, she said, “You tell me what happened.” Haymon later stated she was unaware of how she had crashed. Then, as Haymon remained uncooperative, she advised officers that she was coming from work but did not know what time it was. As they interviewed her, they noticed her showing numerous signs of intoxication, using her phone to call her mom repeatedly and demanding a lawyer. She was taken into custody and placed in the back of a patrol car when her friend, Taylar Jacobs, told officers what happened. Jacobs explained that she, Haymon, and her friends came from Kung Fu Saloon near Division Street, where she had two fruity mixed drinks. Officers informed Haymon of implied consent and requested a breath sample, to which Haymon responded by demanding a lawyer. Officers conducted an inventory search of Haymon’s vehicle and located a Glock 42 handgun in her center console with six rounds in the magazine. Haymon was taken into custody for driving under the influence, implied consent, and possessing a firearm while under the influence on February 16th.
Ryan Sosa charged with child abuse after infant daughter sustains life-threatening injuries
33-year-old Ryan Manuel Sosa was taken into custody for aggravated child abuse on February 15th. On February 12th, officers arrived at Sosa’s residence on Dodson Chapel Road, responding to reports of a 5-month-old female infant not breathing. CPR was attempted before the child was transported to Centennial Children’s Hospital, where she was diagnosed with multiple internal injuries. The injuries include diffuse cerebral edema, subarachnoid and subdural hemorrhages on her head in multiple places, a fracture to her distal tibia, and retinal hemorrhages in both eyes. Dr. Turner advised officers that the injuries were consistent with non-accidental trauma and are life-threatening. On February 15th, they interviewed Sosa, who stated he was home alone with the child while her mother was at work. Initially, Sosa told officers he went to pick the child up from her bassinet after noticing her head in the pillow. He then blew in her mouth and carried her into his bedroom. After explaining the injuries to Sosa, he told detectives that she also fell off the bed, which may have caused them. Sosa was taken into custody and charged with aggravated child abuse on February 15th.
Artavia Henderson booked after stealing $900 from Walmart in 2021
28-year-old Artavia Henderson was booked on the citation of theft on February 13th, 2024. In June 2021, officers responded to the Walmart on Nolensville Pike and spoke with Kyle Kloes, a loss prevention officer. Kloes advised officers that Henderson, an employee at the time, had been stealing from the store. Kloes stated that Loss Prevention located two suspicious transactions from her employee ID and reviewed footage from June 19th, 2021, and June 21st, 2021, showing her loading $400 and then $500 onto pre-paid Visa cards without depositing cash into the register. When Kloes spoke with Henderson, Henderson admitted to the thefts. Henderson was booked on the citation of theft on February 13th.
19-year-old Devareous Smith assaults ex-girlfriend during argument over towel
19-year-old Devareous Smith was jailed on February 14th for assaulting his ex-girlfriend over an argument about a towel at America’s Best Value Inn on Rivergate Parkway. Amanda Diaz told police that she and Smith got into an argument over a hotel towel, which caused Smith to become angry. Smith then grabbed a towel and threw it at Diaz’s face. Diaz walked to the bathroom while they argued. As Diaz walked in Smith’s direction, she noticed he had his fist balled as if he was going to hit her. Smith told Diaz to hit him, so she pushed him away in self-defense. This prompted Smith to swing at her multiple times and shove her to the floor. Smith admitted to throwing the towel in Diaz’s face but insisted that she was the one who swung at him first. Officers didn’t observe any injuries to Smith’s face and determined him to be the primary aggressor.
Mercedes Cole punches boyfriend during argument on Valentine’s Day
26-year-old Mercedes Cole was booked on February 14th for assaulting her boyfriend during an argument on Foster Place. Tariq Samad stated that when he was trying to talk to Cole, she shut the door on him. Samad then forced the door open, so Cole punched him. Officers observed a red mark on the side of his face. According to Cole, she was trying to get away from Samad so he would leave her alone. As Cole tried to close the door, Samad pushed it open, causing the door to hit her. In response to being hit by the door, Cole punched Samad. The officers asked Cole why she was trying to get away from him, but she couldn’t give a consistent answer and repeated that they were arguing. Cole could not provide evidence of threats or violence from Samad. Cole was taken into custody for domestic assault on February 14th.
Sayva Phillips caught stealing $45 worth of merchandise from Nordstrom
20-year-old Sayva Phillips was issued a citation on January 13th for shoplifting at Nordstrom on Abbott Martin Road. The asset protection officer reported that Phillips walked into the women’s changing room with her selected clothing and a green bag. When she left the changing room, she only had some of the selected items in hand. Phillips then paid for an item and went into the bathroom. Phillips put multiple items she did not pay for in the Nordstrom bag with her purchased item. The asset protection officer stopped Phillips as she attempted to leave the store. $45 worth of merchandise was recovered from her bag. Phillips was booked on a citation on February 5th.
Henrietta Umeh assaults Lea Avenue Apartments employee over mail
30-year-old Henrietta Umeh was issued a summons for an incident on December 15th, 2023, at Lea Avenue Apartments. Kendra Kirksey, an employee at Lea Avenue Apartments, stated that Umeh aggressively confronted her. According to Kirksey, Umeh was very rude throughout their encounter and demanded to get a package from the mail room. As Kirksey tried to get to the mail room, Umeh demanded to speak to the upstairs leasing office staff. After Umeh received her package, Kirksey tried to go upstairs to explain the situation to the leasing staff. Kirksey stated this was when Umeh then stepped out of the elevator, called her a “bitch” and got very close to her face. Umeh also slapped Kirksey’s hands away from the elevator buttons. Kirksey returned to the front desk, where Umeh followed her and knocked over her water bottle before walking off. Umeh was booked on a citation on February 5th.
