DUI: John Ledford crashes Jeep Grand Cherokee after having “one beer and one shot” at Joe’s Place

26-year-old John Ledford was involved in a car accident on Harding Place in the early hours of May 8th. When officers arrived, they located his unoccupied 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee in a ditch with all airbags deployed and found a bottle of Casamigos Tequila. Ledford’s friend, Austin Crow, alerted authorities, advising them that Ledford was the driver and was being treated at Saint Thomas West Hospital on Harding Pike. Officers went to the ER and spoke with Crow, who stated that Ledford called him around 2:30 a.m., telling him he had been in a car crash. Then, Crow told officers he drove and transported Ledford to the hospital. Crow added that Ledford did not want to call the police because he did not have health insurance. The police interviewed Ledford in the ER room, during which they noticed he reeked of alcohol as he stated he did not have much recollection of how the crash occurred. Ledford said he was driving back from Joe’s Place and drank “one beer and one shot.” Officers administered a sobriety test, and Ledford showed signs of impairment. After being informed of implied consent, he refused to provide a chemical sample. Ledford was taken into custody for driving under the influence and an implied consent violation.

DUI: Paul Armstrong swerves between lanes in pickup truck after leaving Waffle House

57-year-old Paul Landon Armstrong swerved in his GMC pickup truck near White Bridge Pike and Woodmont Boulevard around 10:44 p.m. on April 24th. After he crossed the double yellow line, officers conducted a traffic stop, where they approached the passenger side and noticed he reeked of alcohol. Armstrong then stated he had drank two beers at an unknown location on Centennial Boulevard before going to Waffle House. Armstrong consented to sobriety tests and showed multiple signs of impairment. Then, after being read implied consent, he did not tell officers if he refused or agreed to provide a sample and requested to call an attorney. Armstrong was taken into custody for driving under the influence on April 25th.

DUI: Kevin Cascante nearly collides with unmarked police vehicle on Charlotte Pike

38-year-old Kevin Cascante drove his 2023 Nissan Rogue through a red light near 51st Avenue and Charlotte Pike in the early hours of April 24th. He nearly collided with Lieutenant Joshua Lefler’s unmarked metro vehicle. Lefler honked at Cascante, who put his hazards on and stopped in a travel lane. After Lefler passed by, Cascante got behind him and tailgated his vehicle closely, swerving back and forth as if he were going to hit him. Then, Lefler conducted a traffic stop near White Bridge Pike and I-40 East, where he advised additional officers that he believed Cascante was impaired. When officers spoke with Cascante, they noticed he reeked of alcohol and transported him to the Chic-Fil-A on Charlotte Pike for sobriety tests, but he refused to take them. After being read implied consent, Cascante declined to provide a chemical sample. Cascante was also previously arrested in Nashville for a 2022 public intoxication incident where he spat on people in downtown Nashville. Cascante was taken into custody for driving under the influence and an implied consent violation.

DUI: Kyle Thompson crashes car into utility pole, tells police he “just saw the pole and hit it”

36-year-old Kyle William Thompson crashed his car into a utility pole near The Temple on Harding Pike late March 26th. When officers arrived, they observed that the pole was split in half and that the vehicle had sustained significant damage. Bystanders pointed at Thompson, sitting in an embankment beside a tree without shoes. Officers approached him, during which they noticed he reeked of alcohol, showing signs of intoxication. While in the NFD ambulance, he said, “Just saw the pole and hit it.” Thompson added that he was driving from his Bellevue apartment to pick up a friend from the bar. Thompson admitted to drinking two Budweiser Beers about an hour and a half before driving. He consented to sobriety tests, performed poorly, and refused to provide a chemical sample after being explained implied consent. Thompson was taken into custody for driving under the influence and implied consent.

Kristina Sandgren slices boyfriend’s hand during argument

35-year-old Kristina Sandgren had a domestic altercation with her boyfriend, Ryan Glass, at her Maudina Avenue Apartment on March 5th. When officers arrived, they located Glass in the hallway outside of the unit, lying in a large amount of blood. Officers discovered a trail of blood spanning nearly three units from her apartment to Glass’ current location. Glass suffered a severe laceration to his left hand and was transported to Vanderbilt Hospital. Glass received a blood transfusion and is scheduled for plastic surgery to repair his hand. Detectives spoke with Glass, and he advised them that Sandgren cut his left hand with a pocketknife following an argument. Officers executed a search warrant for her apartment, where they located a significant amount of blood splattered on the walls and floors. Additionally, they discovered a pocketknife near Sandgren, who admitted to causing the injury to Glass but claimed that it was an accident after being Mirandized. However, Sandgren repeatedly changed her story and even told detectives she lied to them. Sandgren was deemed as the primary aggressor and then was taken into custody for aggravated assault.

DUI: Shawnna Haymon drinks two mixed drinks before crashing into pole, tells police “You tell me what happened.”

25-year-old Shawnna Haymon had a single-vehicle accident where she collided with a utility pole near the Harding Pike and Vossland Drive intersection in the early hours of February 16th. Officers arrived, noticed the extensive front-end damage to her car, and asked if she was injured. Haymon responded by telling officers that she had to talk to her mother and would not answer any questions due to legal reasons. Haymon refused medical services after NFD medics evaluated her, and when officers asked what had happened, she said, “You tell me what happened.” Haymon later stated she was unaware of how she had crashed. Then, as Haymon remained uncooperative, she advised officers that she was coming from work but did not know what time it was. As they interviewed her, they noticed her showing numerous signs of intoxication, using her phone to call her mom repeatedly and demanding a lawyer. She was taken into custody and placed in the back of a patrol car when her friend, Taylar Jacobs, told officers what happened. Jacobs explained that she, Haymon, and her friends came from Kung Fu Saloon near Division Street, where she had two fruity mixed drinks. Officers informed Haymon of implied consent and requested a breath sample, to which Haymon responded by demanding a lawyer. Officers conducted an inventory search of Haymon’s vehicle and located a Glock 42 handgun in her center console with six rounds in the magazine. Haymon was taken into custody for driving under the influence, implied consent, and possessing a firearm while under the influence on February 16th.

DUI: Musician Alec Dockery drinks two Moscow Mules before flipping car in crash

31-year-old Alec Dockery, singer in 12 South Band, flipped his car after colliding with a parked car on Nevada Avenue in the early hours of February 9th. When officers arrived, Dockery was standing outside his vehicle, and then he advised them that he was unaware of how the crash occurred. Dockery was evaluated by medics and refused medical services. He stated that he was coming from a friend’s house in east Nashville and had two Moscow Mules about two hours before the accident. Officers observed Dockery to be visibly intoxicated during their interview. Dockery then consented to sobriety tests, performed poorly, and provided a breath sample that resulted in 0.169 BAC%. Dockery was taken into custody for driving under the influence.

DUI: Liset Quesada Mendoza speeds down Charlotte Pike in BMW

32-year-old Liset Quesada Mendoza was speeding on Charlotte Pike in the early hours of December 2nd. Officers observed this and conducted a traffic stop. The BMW stopped in the roadway, and passenger princess Robert Koch stepped out of the car and approached officers aggressively, so he was detained. Then, officers spoke with Mendoza, who was visibly intoxicated and admitted to speeding and consuming alcohol. Mendoza refused to do sobriety tests, sign implied consent, or provide any information regarding her identity. Officers located her passport in her purse and were able to identify her. Mendoza was taken into custody for driving under the influence, implied consent, and not having a driver’s license.

Tuan Le too drunk to escape flipped vehicle

59-year-old Tuan Le was involved in a car accident on James Street in the early hours of November 23rd. Officers arrived and noticed a black Toyota sedan, upside down, blocking the roadway. The car collided with the cement drainage area by the residence’s front lawn. Residents came out and found Le in the driver seat of the rolled-over vehicle, and as they cut the seatbelt to release him from the car, they could see he was visibly intoxicated. Le spoke with officers and told them that he had one beer, that he was coming from a friend’s house, and that he was on the phone when he crashed into the cement drainage system. He consented to sobriety tests, performed poorly, and was taken into custody for driving under the influence.

Robert Koch, passenger princess, drunkenly assaults officer after wife’s BMW is pulled over

43-year-old Robert Barry Koch was riding as a passenger of a BMW speeding on Charlotte Pike in the early hours of December 2nd. Officers observed this and conducted a traffic stop. The BMW stopped in the middle of the road, and Koch, the passenger, exited the vehicle after being told to remain in the car and began to rapidly advance toward Officer Mercado, causing him to draw and aim his taser at him. He was detained by another officer who arrived for assistance. They noticed Koch and the driver, Liset Quesada Mendoza, were visibly intoxicated as Koch began to curse and yell at them. Officers searched the BMW and located a Beretta PX4 Storm .40 handgun in the back seat with seven rounds in the magazine, which Koch claimed. Koch was taken into custody for possession of a firearm while under the influence, public intoxication, and assault on an officer.
