26-year-old John Ledford was involved in a car accident on Harding Place in the early hours of May 8th. When officers arrived, they located his unoccupied 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee in a ditch with all airbags deployed and found a bottle of Casamigos Tequila. Ledford’s friend, Austin Crow, alerted authorities, advising them that Ledford was the driver and was being treated at Saint Thomas West Hospital on Harding Pike. Officers went to the ER and spoke with Crow, who stated that Ledford called him around 2:30 a.m., telling him he had been in a car crash. Then, Crow told officers he drove and transported Ledford to the hospital. Crow added that Ledford did not want to call the police because he did not have health insurance. The police interviewed Ledford in the ER room, during which they noticed he reeked of alcohol as he stated he did not have much recollection of how the crash occurred. Ledford said he was driving back from Joe’s Place and drank “one beer and one shot.” Officers administered a sobriety test, and Ledford showed signs of impairment. After being informed of implied consent, he refused to provide a chemical sample. Ledford was taken into custody for driving under the influence and an implied consent violation.
