21-year-old Figueroa Gabriela Serrano was one out of a group of individuals who were fighting inside Whiskey Row around 12:06 a.m. on April 28th. Staff from Whiskey Row flagged officers down, advising them of the altercation. Officers then arrived and observed several people scuffling in front of the establishment. When the police started breaking up the large group, they struggled with two of them, one being Serrano, who ran away from the scene. While escorting one of the involved individuals, he pointed out Serrano as the person he was fighting with. Officers went to detain Serrano, and he became resistive, even after numerous instructions to “Stop resisting,” causing them to take him to the ground to arrest him safely. Serrano was then taken into custody for disorderly conduct and resisting arrest.

Gregory Middleton resists arrest after not paying his tab at Kid Rock’s Honky Tonk
46-year-old Gregory Middleton could not pay his tab at Kid Rock’s Bar in the early hours of April 26th. Officers were flagged down and advised of the situation. Upon arrival, officers spoke with the staff, who stated the patron, later identified as Middleton, had an outstanding tab of $201.18, and his card kept declining. Middleton told them he had another card in his wallet, which was in his vehicle, so officers escorted him there. Then, he said his name was “Patrick Garvis,” despite the credit card he tried using at the bar having the name “Paul E. Valente” on it. Officers also noticed his vehicle was registered to a “Gregory Middleton.” He could not find his wallet, so he entered the driver’s seat and started the car as if he were leaving. Officers talked him into getting out of the car and walked him back to the bar.
At the bar, Middleton stated he could pay using Apple Pay, but his phone was dead. The bar employees stated the business did not accept Apple Pay as a form of payment. Middleton could not cover his tab, could not order a way home, and was too intoxicated to drive or be alone, so officers detained him. As Middleton was detained, officers located 1.1 grams of marijuana in a yellow bag in his pocket. While trying to arrest him, he stiffened his arms and tried to push his body backward toward officers until they placed him into their patrol car. Then, Middleton refused to give officers his name or social security number, and they could not verify his identity with the names he provided. Middleton was taken into custody for theft of service, resisting arrest, and simple possession. Officers later discovered his name was Gregory Middleton.
DUI: Joshua Martin nearly hits two pedestrians after drinking “two beers” before driving
35-year-old Joshua Henry Martin drove through a red light and almost struck two pedestrians near the 3rd Avenue North and Broadway intersection in the early hours of March 24th. An APS Security employee, William Fenton, observed this, demanded Martin to stop, and notified officers. Officers told Martin to turn off and exit his vehicle when they arrived. Officers then asked if he had been drinking, to which Martin admitted to having “two beers,” adding he was on his way home. He consented to sobriety tests, performed poorly, and then refused to provide a sample after being explained implied consent. Martin was taken into custody for driving under the influence and implied consent.
Richard Thorpe harasses bystanders after being kicked out of Kid Rock’s Honky Tonk
47-year-old Richard Thorpe was escorted out of Kid Rock’s Honky Tonk by security at around 9:50 p.m. on March 24th. After this, officers observed Thorpe harassing bystanders outside of the bar. Officers approached him and attempted to provide him with a safe ride to his hotel. Thorpe showed multiple signs of impairment and could not give officers an address of where he would be staying for the night. So, officers deemed him a danger to not able to care for himself. Thorpe was taken into custody for public intoxication.
Alabama Tourist Carson Willingham resists arrest during fight involving multiple men on Broadway
22-year-old Alabama tourist Carson Daniel Willingham was one of numerous males observed fighting on the ground near Rep. John Lewis Way South and Broadway around 2:30 a.m. on March 17th. When officers arrived, they tried to detain Willingham but became resistive, disregarding their commands to stop. Willingham was taken into custody for disorderly conduct.
Catholic High School President J. Marshall Hyzdu jailed after harassing women in Nashville bar
45-year-old Catholic school president James Marshall Hyzdu was jailed in Nashville Saturday after reportedly following women around a Nashville bar, making them feel uncomfortable. Security at The Twelve Thirty Club says Hyzdu came into the bar and began to follow women around, making them uncomfortable and annoyed with the behavior. Hyzdu was escorted out of the location, only to return and continue the behavior. According to security, he was escorted out of the building six times and continued to return, even changing his clothing once to change his appearance. He was eventually detained until Metro Nashville Police arrived and took him into custody. They noted his extreme level of intoxication and had no one to contact to retrieve him or assist him back to his hotel. J. Mississippi tourist Caden Zaremba jailed after being kicked out of Kid Rock’s Bar
22-year-old Caden Zaremba was escorted out of Kid Rick’s bar at 1:30 a.m. Sunday due to his disorderly behavior. Zaremba then made contact with Metro Nashville Police officers outside of the venue, stating he had been kicked out of the bar and his phone was dead. Officers attempted to assist with a way to charge his phone and offered to call a taxi. Zaremba then refused all assistance and walked away. A short time later, Zaremba returned and re-entered Kid Rock’s Bar. Security detained him, and officers then took him into custody for criminal trespassing.
Vanderbilt Nurse Hannah Hooper berates cops with derogatory slurs during drunken arrest
23-year-old Vanderbilt Nurse Hannah Hooper refused to leave Luke Bryan’s Bar on Broadway in downtown Nashville early Saturday morning. Security initially located her on the steps leading to the rooftop, where she was overly intoxicated and causing a disturbance. Officers had arrived to assist security, and she informed them she was not leaving the bar and attempted to return to enjoying her evening. Officers attempted to guide her outside, but she refused to cooperate and pushed officers. She was taken down and into custody. She became combative and kicked officers, eventually having to be placed into a wheelchair to be transported outside safely. Police say that during transport to booking, Hannah Hooper berated officers by calling them derogatory slurs. Her friends informed officers that she was a nurse at Vanderbilt during the arrest. She is charged with assaulting an officer, resisting arrest, and criminal trespassing.
Marris Jones wrecks yellow Corvette in DUI crash
61-year-old Marris Jones rear-ended a white Chevrolet at the intersection of Elm Hill Pk. and Murfreesboro Pk. on the night of October 20th. Officers arrived and noticed a damaged, yellow Corvette and three people, including Jones, on the sidewalk. The two others were a couple who witnessed the accident and told officers that Jones rear-ended the Chevrolet at a red light, and then the Chevrolet fled shortly after. Officers asked Jones what happened and observed him to be visibly intoxicated. Jones consented to sobriety tests and performed poorly before being placed under arrest for driving under the influence.
Jacoby Rippy charged in assault of mother and younger brother
20-year-old Jacoby Rippy hit his little brother, who tried to break up a fight between him and their mother. On June 21st, MNPD officers arrived in West Nashville and spoke to Mia Rippy, the victim of a domestic assault. Mia told police that she was assaulted by Jacoby, who was her son, and he lived at the residence. She said it started when they argued and told him to leave the residence. When Jacoby refused, she said, he grabbed and pushed her. At this time, his younger brother saw him push their mother, so he stepped in to defend her. The little brother said Jacoby grabbed him and punched him. Police noted scratches and bruising to the younger brother’s face, chest, and pinky finger. Mia did not have any visible injuries but wanted to prosecute and place an order of protection against Jacoby.
