Ashley Guntherm assaults girlfriend’s ex-husband in Vanderbilt Children’s Hospital

39-year-old Ashley Guntherm was being aggressive towards Robert Snyder, her girlfriend’s ex-husband, at Vanderbilt Children’s Hospital on the afternoon of November 15th. Snyder advised officers he was up there for a follow-up visit for his son when he noticed Guntherm enter the double doors. Then, Snyder stated that Guntherm shoulder-checked him up against the doors, causing him to injure his right shoulder and his left arm. Officers were able to confirm this through footage, and Guntherm was taken into custody for assault.

Kevin McDowell assaults girlfriend, says he would “shoot her and anyone else who came to the apartment”

30-year-old Kevin McDowell was booked on an outstanding warrant from October 16th when his girlfriend went to the police department to report that a few days prior, she was assaulted by him. Heidi Martin advised that McDowell had slapped her across the face and strangled her so she couldn’t scream for help. She stated that they had argued about a credit card earlier in the day. McDowell then lunged for her phone, knocking her to the ground and the glasses off her face. She added that he then placed her in a headlock, once again taking her breath for trying to call 911. The assault didn’t stop there; McDowell dug his elbow into her neck before strangling her with both hands while she begged for him to let her go. McDowell told Heidi that if she called the police, he would “shoot her and anyone else who came to the apartment.” Heidi secretly texted her friend to arrange an Uber for her to get to the airport and to call 911. When Kevin realized what Heidi had done, he threw a laptop at her. Authorities advised Heidi to go to the police station to make a report. She told officers she feared for her life and was flying to a different state in the morning to get away from McDowell. While speaking with officers, McDowell sent her a message saying he was sorry. Heidi explained that she had been dating him for six weeks and was interested in an order of protection.

Edie Bjerstedt breaks boyfriend’s glasses during argument

32-year-old Edie Bjerstedt was jailed on Tuesday for vandalizing her boyfriend’s property after an argument on Lea Avenue. Edie stated that she and William McPeak had been dating for about six months. They argued after a night out, and Williams began throwing her personal items around the room and threatened to throw her cell phone in the toilet. Officers observed personal items scattered throughout the home. William told officers that during the argument, Edie twisted up his glasses and broke them. The officers observed the broken glasses, and Edie admitted to destroying them and being the cause of escalating the altercation.

DUI: Julian Kim drinks “A Beer and a shot” before driving

21-year-old Julian Kim was seen swerving lanes and crossing into oncoming traffic by officers on November 13th. When Kim was pulled over and questioned, he immediately admitted to drinking. Kim told officers that he had just come from a bar and had consumed a “beer and a shot.” Officers conducted a field sobriety test, and Kim showed multiple signs of being drunk. Kim was taken into custody and charged with DUI.

Joshua Taylor bitten by wife during infidelity dispute

21-year-old Joshua Taylor was jailed on November 11th after assaulting his wife at their home on Brentridge Place. Joshua advised that he and his wife, Hannah Burton, were arguing due to ongoing marital issues when she tried to leave the apartment. Hannah had the keys to Taylor’s car, and he told her to return them. When she refused, he tried to grab the keys from her hand. She then tried to knee him but missed and was shoved away. She swung her hand at him but missed again. When Taylor tried to take the keys again, Ms. Burton bit his hand. Officers observed the fresh bite mark on his hand. Ms. Burton told police that she caught her husband cheating, and that’s why they started arguing. According to Ms. Burton, her husband was on the phone with his mother, who was telling him to stop her from leaving. She showed the police the missing skin from her fingers as a result of Taylor trying to rip the keys from her hand. She also explained that she bit him because he wrapped his arms around her to restrain her. Due to the injuries and the fact that Taylor initiated the physical altercation, he was taken into custody.

18-year-old Charles McKinney steals vehicle during party

18-year-old Charles McKinney was taken into custody on November 9th for the theft of Ashley Davidson’s car in October. Davidson advised officers that she had guests over when her keys came up missing, and when she questioned them, nobody knew where they were. Her guests left, and she found her keys without her car keys attached before realizing that her vehicle was no longer in the parking lot. She believed that McKinney was responsible for this. Davidson called her dealership two days later, where they called for an officer to recover the vehicle from Sylvan Street, where it was parked the night before. Officers retrieved footage from the recovery and incident locations showing McKinney matching Davidson’s description. She was also able to identify McKinney in a photo lineup.

27-year-old Jonathan Enrique Aleman Herrera was involved in a domestic scuffle with his brother, Jefferson Eleazar Aleman Herrera, at Turfway Court on the afternoon of November 12th. Claudia Martinez Morales, Jefferson’s girlfriend, spoke with the officers and told them that she and Jefferson had kicked Jonathan out of their house the day before. His girlfriend, Karla Lara Cartagena, came by to collect the rest of his belongings as Martinez advised her that only she could come in, not Jonathan. Jonathan pushed his way into the house, shoved his brother, and punched him multiple times in the face as they fell to the ground. Then, they were both transported to the Southern Hills Emergency Room.

Jefferson confirmed Martinez’s statements, adding that he felt unconscious after Jonathan punched him. He said he remembered picking up “something” and swinging it but missing Jonathan. He had visible injuries on his eyebrow and collarbone.

Cartagena told officers that Jefferson shoved Jonathan and punched him twice in the face when he stepped into the house. Then, she stated Jefferson picked up a knife, swung it, missed Jonathan, picked up a pan, and then hit him on the head.

Jonathan confirmed Cartagena’s statements, adding that he sustained a cut on his hand from defending himself from the knife. Officers noticed a cut on his hand with dried-up blood around it, two scratches on his midsection, and swelling on his brow.

Both parties were taken into custody for domestic assault.
