Sharmaneke Wilson strangles boyfriend after he takes her phone

29-year-old Sharmaneke Wilson was involved in a domestic altercation with her boyfriend, Roger Johnson Jr, at her Pierce Road residence on April 29th. When officers arrived, they spoke with Johnson, who stated that he and Wilson had argued. Johnson said the argument was regarding his daughter and occurred 30 minutes before the police arrived. He also claimed that while they were arguing, he took Wilson’s phone, prompting her to put her hands around his neck and try to choke him. Johnson notes that Wilson did not restrict his airflow but scratched his neck as he was trying to escape from her. Johnson called the police immediately after Wilson put her hands on him. Officers observed the scratches on Johnson’s neck before speaking to Wilson, who admitted that she did put her hands around his neck. Due to Johnson’s injuries, officers deemed Wilson to be the primary aggressor, and she was taken into custody for aggravated assault.

Nya Nelson breaks her ex-roommate’s fingers during confrontation over eviction

24-year-old Nya Nelson was taken into custody for aggravated assault on April 26th. On April 24th, at around 10:30 p.m., officers were dispatched to a Claiborne Street residence, where they spoke with Kyndrea Olawumi, who advised them that, on April 23rd, around 11:00 p.m., she encountered one of her ex-roommates, Nelson, outside of her home while she was heading to her uncle’s house. Olawumi said Nelson confronted her about having her evicted from the residence in January and blamed Olawumi for having her child taken by the Department of Child Services shortly after. Olawumi said Nelson followed her to her uncle’s residence, where the confrontation continued. Olawumi’s uncle attempted to de-escalate the argument, during which Nelson tried to punch him, one of Olawumi’s cousins, and Olawumi. Nelson then began attacking and striking Olawumi in the face repeatedly. Olawumi said she acted in self-defense and punched Nelson back. During their altercation, Olawumi stated that several of her fingernails were removed and that Nelson had broken her left pinky and ring finger. Olawumi said her uncle pulled Nelson off her and convinced her to leave the premises. Olawumi was transported to St. Thomas Midtown Emergency Room for X-rays and had a cast placed on her left arm. She advised officers that she would like to pursue prosecution and getting an order of protection on her own time. However, due to the visible injuries Olawumi sustained, officers were obligated to prosecute on her behalf. A warrant was then issued for Nelson’s arrest.

Nicholas Francisco strangles daughter, tells police he “disciplined” her

43-year-old Nicholas Francisco was taken into custody for aggravated assault on April 28th. Francisco called the police, and when they arrived at his Patricia Drive residence, he told them his daughter, Gabriela Lucas, had gone missing around 5:30 p.m. on April 27th. Francisco said she ran away after he “disciplined” her and told him that she would kill herself. Francisco said she got into the car, drove away, and never returned. After officers searched for her, they returned to Francisco’s home, where they located Lucas in her car. Then, she told them her father “beat her,” not “disciplined,” so she ran away in fear. Lucas had a black eye, bruising on both sides of her face, and a red marking around her neck. She was then transported to Vanderbilt Pediatrics. Francisco was detained for the occurrence.

Joshua Wafford bumps security guard with his truck at St. Jude’s Rock ‘n’ Roll Nashville Marathon

37-year-old Joshua Wafford was involved in an altercation with Jobiel Alexander at the intersection of South 9th Street and Woodland Street on April 27th. Alexander and another individual working security for St. Jude’s Rock ‘n’ Roll Nashville Marathon, Ms. Macgregor, told law enforcement that they observed a truck driver drive around a barricade onto Woodland Street. The two went over to stop him from going any further. Alexander stood in front of the truck, and Macgregor went to the driver’s side to talk to Wafford. Wafford told them he worked on Woodland Street and needed to get through traffic. Alexander and Macgregor reiterated that Wafford couldn’t go that way, so Wafford proceeded to bump into Alexander with the truck’s front bumper. After bumping into Alexander, Wafford made his way onto Russel Street. When confronted by law enforcement, Wafford stated that he did not hit any security guards but that one of the guards jumped on the front of his vehicle. This contradicts the statements of a witness of the incident, Ms. Bates, who advised that she was sitting across the street from the incident and observed Wafford bump into a security guard with the truck. Joshua Wafford was taken into custody and charged with aggravated assault.

Logan Thompson threatens man with knife, tells him “I’ll cut your throat if you don’t move!”

22-year-old Logan Tyler Thompson threatened Tyler Worden with a knife near The Musicians Hall of Fame Museum around 7:42 p.m. on April 25th. Upon arrival, officers spoke with Worden. Worden stated that a male, later identified as Thompson, who was wearing a black hoodie and green pants, approached him, demanding that he move. Then, he said that Thompson pulled out a knife and stated, “I’ll cut your throat if you don’t move!” Officers searched the area and located a man who matched the description, identified as Thompson, near the WeGo Central Bus Station on Martin Luther King Boulevard with a large machete in his waistband. Officers detained him and conducted a “show-up,” where Worden identified him. Kimberly Lanham, a witness, spoke with officers and corroborated Worden’s statements. Thompson was then taken into custody for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.

Michael Moore strangles baby-mama during argument over cleanliness

30-year-old Michael Moore had a domestic altercation with the mother of his children, Naketha Moore, at their Bell Road apartment on the afternoon of April 10th. When officers arrived, they spoke with Naketha, who was sweating profusely and had minor scratches on her face. She advised them that she had asked Michael about the cleanliness of their apartment, expressing her frustration about the mess. Then, Naketha said she grabbed a vacuum cleaner and slammed it on the ground as they argued. Michael responded by pushing her against the wall, “strangling” her multiple times and compromising her breathing. Naketha told officers that she feared for her life, so she called 911, which was when he left the scene. A warrant was issued for his arrest that day. 53-year-old Rubin Lemont Miles had a domestic incident with his girlfriend, Yvonne Wescott, near their Pepperwood Drive residence late February 22nd. Wescott alerted the authorities, advising them that she pulled into the neighborhood and observed Miles having an issue with his Ford Explorer in the middle of the road. She stopped to assist him, using her vehicle to get his SUV to their house. Wescott stated she was upset because her car sustained minor scratches after pushing his Explorer and wanted him to apologize for being careless. Miles refused and became irate in their front yard, so she grabbed a baseball bat underneath the bench by their front door and put it under her arm. She added that she feared for her safety once the argument escalated.

Wescott said Miles saw the bat and “lost control of his anger,” punching her in the face repeatedly, causing her to lose her balance. During this, she said he grabbed the bat and hit her on the right side of her abdomen. Officers noticed she had swelling to the left side of her cheek, with her eye nearly swollen shut, and bruising to her stomach. Wescott provided officers with camera footage from her ring bell, which showed him removing his dark-colored jacket and changing into a red Detroit Red Wings hoodie before fleeing. A warrant was issued for his arrest. Miles was taken into custody for domestic assault on April 22nd.

Dayton Unger strangles girlfriend, tells police “whatever she says happened is what happened”

25-year-old Dayton Unger had a domestic altercation with his girlfriend, Ivy Cook, at his Terry Place residence in the early hours of April 22nd. When officers arrived, Unger walked up to speak with them, holding his hands out, knowing he was about to go to jail. He stated while at the Tequila Cowboy, he and Cook argued because he was upset for “unknown reasons,” adding that he was feeling intoxicated at this point.

Unger said he went to the parking garage, where bystanders calmed him down before he and Cook drove to his house. When they arrived, he advised another argument ensued, where he picked up a chair and hit her windshield, destroying it. Unger admitted to placing his hand around her throat and squeezing for approximately 5 seconds. He said that during this, he let go of her, causing her to fall to the ground. The neighbors observed this and confronted Unger, telling him he would attack him if he continued to assault her.

Officers spoke with Cook, who corroborated Unger’s statements, adding that he could not get inside when they arrived at his house. Then she said they argued, and he went around the back, where she heard a loud noise, which she later discovered was him shattering her windshield with a chair. She said that he pushed her to the ground and strangled her, leaving visible marks. Ring camera footage showed Unger grabbing a chair, but it didn’t capture Unger strangling Cook. He repeatedly told the police that whatever Cook says happened is what happened . She was then transported to Summit Hospital for medical treatment, and Unger was transported to booking.

Devin Jackson threatens to kill girlfriend after she discovered he cheated

20-year-old Devin Jackson had a domestic altercation with his girlfriend, Nia Kendall Robinson, at his West Heiman Street apartment around 2:00 a.m. on April 15th. Robinson called the police to the Radisson Hotel on Airport Center Drive. When they arrived, she told them that she and Jackson argued after she found out he had been cheating on her. He threatened to kill her if she told his mom and started destroying her belongings, so she tried to get between him and her suitcases, where he struck her on the side of the face. After Jackson hit her, he mounted her and put his hands around her neck, attempting to strangle her. Robinson told officers she started kicking and fighting to get from underneath him, and he spit on her repeatedly and squeezed her arms, leaving visible bruises. She added that he stood in front of the door, hindering her from leaving his room, until she got away and had a friend give her a ride to the Hotel. Jackson was then taken into custody for aggravated kidnapping and aggravated assault.

Christa Tull pulls knife on security at Tootsie’s Orchid Lounge after refusing to pay tab

37-year-old Christa Tull tried to leave without paying her tab at Tootsie’s Orchid Lounge around 2 a.m. on April 22nd. When officers arrived, they noticed Tull was detained, and they met with Brandon Schneider, a security guard for Tootsie’s, who stated that after she refused to pay, he asked her if they could keep her ID so she could come back and handle the balance when she sobered up. He said Tull took a deep breath and reached in her purse, looking back and forth at him multiple times before telling him, “I just want to go home.” Tull then pulled out a black pocket knife, so he grabbed her and took the knife away, fearing she would use it on him. After this, he handcuffed her and waited for the police. Matt Mosely, a witness, told officers that he saw the entire incident take place and corroborated Schneider’s statements. Tull admitted to pulling the knife from her purse but stated it was an accident. Tull was taken into custody for aggravated assault.
