Alex Swader charged with DUI on his birthday

29-year-old Alex Swader was jailed on his birthday, May 4th, after running a red light on Dickerson Pike, almost hitting a police patrol vehicle. Police were on an unrelated call when Swader barrelled toward them and then cooperated with a traffic stop in a parking lot a short distance away. Swader opened his door and gave them his car keys, when police asked why he was giving up his car keys, he shrugged his shoulders. He had no driver’s license to show officers when they asked for it but instead handed them a state ID. Police saw a nearly empty bottle of patron on the floor of the backseat and he told police he had a long island iced tea before driving. Swader had slurred speech, his eyes were glassy and he was off balance when exiting his vehicle. He was slow when answering questions, and at some points of the investigations, he didn’t answer at all. He agreed to sobriety tests and performed poorly.

When officers were placing Swader into the patrol vehicle, police grabbed his belongings that he had left on top of the car and saw a green leafy substance in plain sight, and he refused to answer what it was. Swader vomited on himself several times on the way to booking and now faces DUI, driving on a revoked license, drug possession, implied consent, and open container charges

Leslie Rodgers charged with DUI after flipping car on I-40

57-year-old Leslie Rodgers was booked this week on a citation after he hit the median on I-40 and flipped his car on April 4. When police responded to the crash, they saw a half-empty plastic container of Vodka on the roof of the vehicle that was placed there by the fire department. Rodgers was transported to Vanderbilt before officers could conduct a DUI investigation. Police spoke with Rogers at the hospital, where he said he didn’t know how the crash happened, but he openly admitted to having three shots of Vodka a few hours before the crash. Rogers was not asked to perform sobriety tests because medical staff had recently administered fentanyl. However, based on his admission of drinking and the container of vodka, he was charged with DUI.

Kathleen Daschbach smashes vehicle through BNA security gate

34-year-old Kathleen Daschbach was jailed on April 20th after she drove drunk through the entry gate arm of the BNA employee lot in her black Suburban. Police responded to the parking lot, where they were told by on-site security that Daschbach smashed through the gate arm and was driving erratically around the parking lot. If that wasn’t enough, she came back and smashed through the entrance gate arm a second time. Security tried to stop her, but she drove around them. She was instructed verbally by an officer to exit her vehicle, but she refused and had to be physically removed. When backup arrived, Daschbach was leaning up against her suburban, urinating on herself.

She had to be helped to the curb so she could sit down without falling over. She smelled strongly of alcohol, police asked if she had been drinking, and she said that she refused to answer any questions or say anything. During the vehicle search, officers noticed her rear bumper hanging off. Police also saw an open container of Strawberry Daquiri ClubTails spilled on the passenger’s side floorboard. There were three grams of marijuana scattered on the passenger’s side floorboard, a pipe in the center console, and a grinder in the ashtray. Daschbach had the title of the vehicle from the original owner, but it was never registered under her name. She also did not have car insurance. Daschbach refused sobriety tests, blood tests, and breath tests when asked. She was placed under arrest and refused to answer any questions from police.

Erica Rosa takes Xanax inside holding cell while waiting on breathalyzer for DUI crash

25-year-old Erica Rosa was jailed on March 27th after crashing her 2020 Dodge Charger into several parked vehicles on 16th Avenue and fleeing the scene. Police checked surrounding areas and found Rosa on Buchannan Street matching the description from a witness. Rosa told officers that she was drunk but she wasn’t driving the charger. She didn’t have any shoes on her feet, but she did have shoes in her car. She told officers that she lived on Bell Road which was the destination pulled up on her GPS that was inside the car. When her car was searched, an open container of alcohol was found. Rosa agreed to a breathalyzer and later told police that while inside the breath testing room, she took a Xanax.

DUI: Alexandra Vinson charged after early morning crash near Vanderbilt

27-year-old Alexandra Vinson was jailed early Sunday Morning after crashing her SUV into a utility pole and power line while intoxicated at the corner of 28 Avenue and Vanderbilt place. When police arrived, Vinson had watery eyes and a slight odor of alcohol coming from her. During the investigation, she was slurring her words and needed assistance to walk as she was unsteady on her feet. She agreed to sobriety testing and performed poorly. During the vehicle search, an open bottle of alcohol was found in the passenger side door.

Avery Matthews charged with DUI in Airport Center Drive parking lot

39-year-old Avery Matthews was charged with DUI late Thursday night after parking his white Kia Sedan into a no-trespass zone at Airpark Center Dr. – where officers were patrolling for street racers. Officers saw the car parked with exhaust coming from the back and later confirmed keys were still in the ignition. When officers approached Matthews, he had extremely slurred speech and bloodshot watery eyes. Officers could smell the strong odor of alcohol coming from him. Matthews told police he was in the parking lot to drop off a female partner before going home. He denied drinking any alcohol, although there was a half-empty bottle of Vodka on the passenger floorboard. Matthews refused sobriety tests and the blood sample. During the vehicle search, police discovered a half-empty bottle of Vodka, a completely empty bottle of Vodka, and a Corona bottle. After running Matthews’s name, it was discovered that he was arrested twice before for DUI in Illinois.

DUI: Nathan Harrell charged after admitting to drinking before driving on interstate

32-year-old Nathan Harrell was driving on I-24 late Wednesday night when he nearly struck the front end of a Kentucky State Trooper’s patrol car that was also traveling in the area. The trooper contacted Metro Nashville Police, who responded to the scene and found Harrell visibly intoxicated and smelling of alcohol. Harrell stated he had two drinks and lunch and had also been drinking at a client’s home prior to driving. He refused field sobriety testing and was transported to Nashville General for a blood draw and then to booking. An inventory search of the vehicle revealed an open bottle of alcohol that was a quarter empty and a Yeti cup with an alcoholic beverage inside.

Mark McCormack, 67, charged with 2nd DUI after West Nashville crash

Police say 67-year-old Mark McCormack could not stand up on his own and had to be propped up by officers during questioning after he crashed his car into a tree Thursday evening in West Nashville. He refused all medical treatment and sobriety testing but did admit to drinking “five large mixed drinks” prior to driving. A search of his vehicle revealed an open bottle of Skol vodka, partially consumed. McCormack was previously convicted of a DUI in 2017 in Dickson County.

DUI: Molina Wilson charged after near crash with a police patrol car

31-year-old Molina Wilson was jailed for DUI on Sunday morning when he almost hit a police officer while running a red light at the intersection of Nolensville Rd. and Wallace Rd. The officer could smell alcohol while approaching the vehicle. There was a box of Corona beer in the backseat with some containers open. Wilson never admitted to drinking alcohol but agreed to do a sobriety test and performed poorly. When he was asked for his driver’s license, he told police that he didn’t have one.

DUI: Julio Reyes-Rodriguez runs over traffic cone, causing ‘catastrophic’ oil leak

21-year-old Julio Reyes-Rodriguez was arrested after driving into a prohibited area and causing a catastrophic oil leak to his vehicle. On Mar 4th, a tree knocked down power lines onto the road. Officers created a road closure with crime scene tape and cones. Mr. Reyes-Rodriguez drove his car through the cones and tape getting one of the power lines wrapped around his car, and a cone stuck under it, causing a massive oil leak. Despite all the visible warnings Reyes-Rodriguez only stopped when an officer approached him. Instead of speaking with the officer, Reyes-Rodriguez started backing up his car, getting further tangled up in debris. When he finally stopped and spoke, officers saw several opened and unopened beer bottles in the car. Officers observed alcohol on his breath, bloodshot watery eyes, and a lack of balance. He admitted that he had five drinks and agreed to a sobriety test which he performed poorly on, with several indicators of impairment.
