DUI: Andrew Mannella drives into head shop, high on Whippets

When police found 29-year-old Andrew Manella on Tuesday afternoon, he had crashed into the side of a head shop on Gallatin Road with a Whippet canister in his hand. He initially claimed his brakes failed as he pulled into the parking lot; however, security video showed him sitting in the parking lot for twenty minutes before pulling over the curb and driving into the building. He admitted to “doing Whippets” but claimed it was several hours ago. A search of the vehicle yielded a large Nitrous Oxide tank, and a total of four canisters, totaling 4.35 liters of the gas.

William Wright jailed after selling $5 Nitrous balloons at Phish’s Nashville show

On October 7th, 27-year-old William Wright was observed walking through the parking lot in the area just outside the Phish concert in Downtown Nashville. Officers described a sea of fifty to one hundred people who were all partaking in inhaling nitrous oxide via inflated balloons. Officers noted some were talkative; some were talking about how high they were; some were quiet, while others vomited. Wright began to walk in the other direction upon seeing the police before being detained. Wright admitted to selling balloons inflated with nitrous oxide for $5 and was placed into custody for inhaling fumes-sale or delivery.

Marquael Clinger sold $10 Nitrous Oxide balloons outside Phish Concert in Nashville

23-year-old Marquael Clinger was observed walking with multiple inflated balloons in the area of the Walk of Fame Park just outside the Phish concert in downtown Nashville this weekend. Officers described a sea of fifty to one hundred people who were all partaking in inhaling nitrous oxide via inflated balloons. Officers noted some were talkative; some were talking about how high they were; some were quiet, while others vomited. Clinger admitted to selling balloons for $10 each.

Ronald Knott had shrooms on him while selling Nitrous Oxide balloons at Phish

21-year-old Ronald Knott was observed in the area of the Walk of Fame Park just outside the Phish concert in downtown Nashville this weekend. Officers described a sea of fifty to one hundred people who were all partaking in inhaling nitrous oxide via inflated balloons. Officers noted some were talkative; some were talking about how high they were; some were quiet, while others vomited. Knott admitted to selling balloons for $10 apiece and, during a search, was in possession of 20.5g of mushrooms containing psilocybin separated by three baggies. Knott was taken into custody.

Matthew Landan faces felony after filling Nitrous Oxide balloons at Phish concert

On October 7th, 51-year-old Matthew Landan was observed in the area of the Walk of Fame Park just outside the Phish concert in downtown Nashville. Officers described a sea of fifty to one hundred people who were all partaking in inhaling nitrous oxide via inflated balloons. Officers noted some were talkative; some were talking about how high they were; some were quiet, while others vomited.  While patrolling, officers witnessed two of them actively filling balloons as one fled on foot; the other, Landan, was detained after resisting and then taken into custody.

Justin Wiseman jailed after selling $10 Nitrous Oxide balloons outside Phish Show

35-year-old Justin Wiseman was observed in the area of the Walk of Fame Park just outside the Phish concert in downtown Nashville this weekend. Officers described a sea of fifty to one hundred people who were all partaking in inhaling nitrous oxide via inflated balloons. Officers noted some were talkative; some were talking about how high they were; some were quiet, while others vomited. Wiseman admitted to selling balloons for $10 each and was arrested.

Raasheem ‘Raa Da Jeweler’ Queen jailed after selling Nitrous Balloons at Phish Show in Nashville

22-year-old Rasheem Queen (Raa Da Jeweler) was jailed early Saturday morning after officers observed him filling balloons with laughing gas in the area of the Walk of Fame Park just outside the Phish concert. Police watched as Mr. Queen filled balloons from metal containers labeled Nitrous Oxide and exchanged them for money. Once the balloons were handed over to the consumer, they immediately inhaled the contents inside. As officers attempted to place Mr. Queen into handcuffs, he began to run toward 6th Avenue. He was eventually detained and searched. Officers recovered $520 cash, a large quantity of unfilled balloons, and two metal cylinders full of Nitrous Oxide.

Rhonda Cain jailed after filling nitrous oxide balloons in downtown Nashville #Phish

35-year-old Rhonda Cain of South Carolina was seen near the Walk of Fame Park near the Phish concert in downtown Nashville. Officers described a sea of fifty to a hundred people all filling and inhaling inflated balloons filled with nitrous oxide. Officers noticed that some were talking about how high they were, others were quiet, and some were even actively vomiting. 

Cain was noticed by officers allegedly filling balloons for people out of the back of a black wagon before handing them off to multiple individuals. Upon noticing officers, Cain reportedly dropped a balloon and removed her hand from the nitrous oxide canister. Although she attempted to distance herself from the canister, officers brought Cain in on the charge of distributing toxic vapors.

Roy Hastings faces felony for passing out nitrous balloons at Phish concert in Nashville

31-year-old Pennsylvania tourist Roy Hastings was observed in the area of the Walk of Fame Park just outside the Phish concert in downtown Nashville this weekend. Officers described a sea of fifty to one hundred people who were all partaking in inhaling nitrous oxide via inflated balloons. Officers noted some were talkative; some were talking about how high they were; some were quiet, while others vomited.

Hastings was wearing a multi-colored shirt and blue jeans while holding a nitrous oxide tank between his legs as he passed out balloons. He claimed the tank wasn’t his when officers approached him. Police found balloons and determined them to be drug paraphernalia. Hastings was taken into custody and charged with a felony toxic vapors offense.

Nashville Police arrest Zatrion Williams for giving away Nitrous Oxide ballons in downtown Nashville

21-year-old Zatrion Williams was jailed this weekend by Metro Nashville Police on a $10,000 bond after he was found to be giving away balloons filled with nitrous oxide in downtown Nashville. Officers report observing a “large gathering of individuals with balloons in a festive state” and went to investigate their happiness. They found Williams freely distributing the balloon, which he was filling from a large Nitrous Oxide canister. He stated he tours with bands and gives the ballons away as it was “part of the culture.” Metro Nashville Police seized two tanks and took Williams into custody, charging him with felony sales/delivery of toxic fumes.
